i tried to add Bob Mitchell as a "band", and it was rejected bcs his sole release under his name was already added as a "split".

https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/S ... ed/1158833

i'm not disputing the rejection, more the reasoning. its obvious to me that the only listed artist for this release is Bob Mitchell, as only his name appears on the cover, not any of the bands names... unlike in most "proper" split releases.

i have come to realise that m-a has been cutting corners as of late, merging band pages, etc. and perhaps it saves storage not to include Bob, but i dont think any of this is advantageous to a website claiming to be the world's/net's most comprehensive metal database. just my two cents.

That was marketed as Bob Mitchell on the front cover, but is a collection of recordings from bands listed on M.A. that he happened to be the vocalist on rather than something like his solo project.

"This is a rare collection of demo bands that the Attacker singer played on after he recorded the legendary album "Battle At Helm's Deep." This CD features the 86 Blackstarr Demo with Bruce Gatewood of Ether Breather and Sneak Attack fame. Also included are 3 of the 4 tracks recorded as Nighthunter in 89 with Attacker guitarist Jim Mooney and Sleepy Hollow drummer Tommy Akel. These tracks were never released or even mixed back then and will be heard for the first time in their full glory. Speaking of Sleepy Hollow this Cd will also feature the 89 Sleepy Hollow Demo as well as the Wycked Synn demo from 2000 and the Mind Assassin demo from 2015."
Most or all of those recordings were released separate from this collection with the respective bands that exist on the site. It's a CD that spans parts of his career and marks his retirement.
(note: the Nighthunter songs were first available on both this release, as well as the Nighthunter "87" CD that was released by this label on the same day.
Just adding additional information to consider. As I'm not a moderator, not making a decision.

i am aware of that, but elsewhere such releases appear as compilations, not splits...

actually i just realised that listing such releases as splits has become a trend (the norm?) on m-a...

https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/C ... 3-99/32070

but still, at least here "Candlemass" appears on the album cover. the bands on bobby's split do not.

Yeah, that's just a collection of songs from the bands he was a part of. Not his solo album by any means. So listing this as a standalone band would be massively inaccurate.
