^ Despite it wasn't me: It does sound pretty programmed, etc. Almost makes you wonder why you added 4 members to the band, when it kinda sounds like work of one person.

Hi
I wanted to submit the band Dawn Of Eternity from australia but it was rejected
because of the not working facebook link and unsure valid releases:
here is the right FB-link: https://www.facebook.com/DawnofeternityDoe
he uploads his tracks on mediafire & you can obtain physical copies via this page

(well I might as well try)

So, I know that Arsonists Get all the girls used to be on MA before the purge. Today they just released their latest album, (http://arsonistsgetallthegirls.bandcamp.com), which seems to add on some Grind influence. It sounds like their most Metal album, but I'm just wondering if it is metal enough to have an un-blacklisting?

Hi, tried to submit the band M.A.I.M. from Italy, but a dialog box opened stating that the band was blacklisted. This fact seems quite awkward to me, since the band I mean, though little-known and very underground, plays a mixture of NWoBHM and folk metal (heavily influenced by Ensiferum, the early Elvenking, and Korpiklaani), has released an EP on bandcamp in 2011, is about to release a second one, and plays around northen Italy.

Here is a sample track from their upcoming EP to acknowledge its metalness.

And here is the link to their first release

so this is a site only for fancy bands who can afford recording in studios. the original tracks was recorded with all members but that was the demo with a much lower quality and this is all we can afford now since war fucked us up. anyway i get it now never mind

This doesn't meet the criteria for a valid digital release. There doesn't appear to be proper cover artwork, the recording quality is abysmal, and I'm not sure I'd even call it metal.

Huh? Not metal, fewer traces of metal than their first two. I thought they had finally done away with the shitty Rorschach wannabe singer and he's back?

Absolutely not - for digital-only releases, we do have a standard of quality. A reasonable amount of effort is required on the part of bands - availability/distribution of physical releases (demos included), or a quality recording if the release is digital-only. You can find a lot of information about recording in the musicians forum on this site, including how to use a free DAW (Reaper) with free guitar amp simulators (read user mattp's posts) as well as guides to mixing and recording by a pro: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=34863

Greetings, my band "Hurakan" was reject.

My EP is available online and physical release

Here the bandcamp:

http://hurakanfolk.bandcamp.com/album/pixanoob

Here the oficial flyer, with information, logo, review. The label is "CHIVO NEGRO PROD"

"Descenso de las almas" and "Q'umarkaj", yes, are not metal songs because are "Intro" "Outro", but the tracks "Hunahpú e Ixbalanqué", "Yum Kimil" "Odio Maya" and "Espíritus" are metal songs, and are mine :)

Is not equal to the "Thänatos 616/Thänatos"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVnBk0QSvyk

In youtube is the complete album of "Thänatos 616"

In the bandcamp are different and have voice!!

Thanks and greetings!!

Hurakan seems to be predominantly ambient. No guitar riffs, can barely hear the guitar most of the time. Dark ambient with breakdowns?

Thanatos 616 seems to be predominantly ambient too. Half of the track you linked is just ambience, the next track I clicked on was all ambient. No riffs, not metal.

I've (valiantly) listened to those songs and I agree with Zodijackyl's assessment.

Covers don't count since they're not the band's original output.

You reposting the same links is not going to make any difference. The album doesn't sound predominantly metal.

So let's pick "Pixanoob" apart song-by-song.

Quote:
1. Descenso de las Almas (Intro) 01:30

Non-metal intro.

Quote:
2. Hunahpú e Ixbalanqué 06:06

Rudimentarily black metal, drumming-wise, but basically just noisy shrieking with almost inaudible guitars. No riffs.

Quote:
3. Yum Kimil 04:58

Ambient.

Quote:
4. Odio Maya 04:08

See track 2.

Quote:
5. Espíritus 03:12

Ambient.

Quote:
6. Q'umarkaj (Finale) 01:44

Acoustic outro. Not metal, obviously.

Quote:
7. The Crying Orc (Burzum Cover) 05:31

A cover version and thus of no consequence to the evaluation process of this band's original material.

And to answer your question, metal as defined by this site is containing an abundance of metal riffing. That's the key point here, the lack of metal riffs.

No, we don't have any sort of record/list of bands that are not on MA other than the blacklist. Do they have a valid release? Is it a metal band?

Sorry, but I quite disagree with you since their sound includes massive amounts of double bass, heavily distorted guitars, occasional tremolo picking, scream and growl vocals. The production of the "Frozen pass" ep was, indeed, horrible and sounded quite poppy at some points with way too much emphasis on violin and vocals(expecially on the first track) and an overall lacking rhythm section, but, if you listen to it, you will realize that all the metal elements are in place.
In order to support the above statements, here is an excerpt from one of their live performances
http://youtu.be/e2wA9edkzbs?t=30m40s
And here is the rip of the promo cd they distributed ad MetalDays 2013 (from which is taken the youtube track link of the previous post)
http://www.speedyshare.com/2Q6XY/Hosteria-2013-EP.zip

Moreover, bands such as Skyclad, Elvenking, Folkstone, Spellblast, Skiltron and Mago De Oz are in the M.A. listed as folk metal and I, personally, don't think that M.A.I.M. are softer then them.

Just my opinion.

Next time if you upload something for us, please rip in an acceptable format so it's not almost 300 mo :( Anyway, I'll listen to it and I'll give my opinion as well.

I've listened to the 2013 album once and I'm not sold. It started out somewhat acceptable with nods to metallic sludge and black metal and whatnot, but on an album level I get more an impression of a pissed-off dark hardcore band than anything based in extreme metal. That's the first impression, at least.

EDIT: Another moderator agrees.

Hi

I'd like to appeal the rejection of my band Fear Of The Deep Blue from EM. The reason I was given was that it isn't a metal band. FOTDB is a brutal death metal / gore grind band along the lines of cock and ball torture and the day everything became nothing. The debut album came out in 2011 on grindhead records, an established death and grind label from Sydney Australia. There are some samples of FOTDB on MySpace.com/fearofthedeepblue. Please reconsider your decision.

It's blacklisted for being "Industrial-ish noise". And comparing it with Cock and Ball Torture won't help, it's blacklisted, too.
Grindcore and goregrind are borderline cases, some are on the metal side of the spectrum, other on the -core or noise one, and seems like your project was decided to belong to the later one.

Bit of an odd request. I had a band rejected until September when their new album is released. Problem is, there was a report filed on it while in the queue from the bass player of the band, filling a bit of information about their formation that I had not been able to find online. I could not add the info to the page, as it had been submitted to the queue, but now that it's been rejected, the report has vanished. I'm curious if there's a way to find it again so that I can add in the proper info.

Band in question is http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Cleric/3540367640

EDIT: Found the two reports on the band in my browser history. One will be a report from me, the other from the band member.
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/437948
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/438219

Disregard all of that.

I've restored the submission, thus also the reports.

Quote:
We formed late 2006, went inactive late 2008, and became active again in 2010. We have an LP coming out this September entitled "Gratum Inferno"
Source/Evidence:
I play bass in the band, and am a founding member.

However, to get rid of it again now, I have to outright delete it (i.e. not reject it). Let me know if I should send you any info in order for you to make a new draft.

IN VICTORY shouldn't be rejected.

- Proof of metalness.
Did you hear "Kill The Traitors" in that link? That's kick-ass metal !!! \m/

- You said "proof of physical release".
I agree. By now there's only one digital single out.
But there's a EP on the way!
You'll say: "But its not released yet so... no"
However! Its already recorded and there's evidence about that and photos. In a month it will be out (just mixing-mastering-artwork left).

Furthermore... do you think IN VICTORY wont last long?
Look at the musicians involved: from Nekrogoblikon, from Omnium Gatherum, soon from Týr...

Come on! I hope you reconsider it! :)

^ It doesn't matter what we think about the band's lasting capabilities. That line has to be drawn somewhere, and having a release that is already released is a logical place for that line. I haven't listened to the band personally, but they'll be accepted once they have a valid release, if it's metal. According to yourself, that happens in a month.
