Yeah pretty sure we were nudging 700 reviews as a group at one point. I did 41 in a week for one of them.. sucked a huge amount really, haha.

I thought you meant let's push for 100 as a group, not for a single reviewer! Anyway, I've compiled my list and will be ready to start rolling once it's the 24th according to the M-A clock.

Yeah, I definitely mean 100 as a group, haha. I've got about 10 albums that I'll definitely review and a few others that will hopefully get ticked off to. Not going to kill myself trying to do it, though.

Guess I'm in this time around.

Time to go write up a virgin list.

I intend to never miss one of these, as long as I have brain functions, working ears, and fingers. So EPs are OK? Cool, I have some weird stuff available...

I'll be watching the review queue this week like Chris Hanson at a 4chan convention, and we'll all try to keep it squeaky-clean for the week. :)

Just to clarify, are only virgin album reviews counted? Or are all reviews included?

It's in a day? Shit, that creeped up quickly. I'm more or less ready, think I can get 15 or so out of me. At the very least I think I can do better than I did last time. I am very excite!

I'll managed to write between 10 or 12 reviews, I think. Funny that the challenge starts during the Québec national day and ends during the Canadian national day haha!

ticked one off. Was a bit average, but I'd wanted to express my love for the album at some point. I think the torrential rain and general wintery-ness we've got at the moment makes me hard not to find it completely perfect.. had to fight myself from making it 100% :)

First review sent. I can probably write a couple more today but damn, people really can write 100 reviews in such period of time?

Might I suggest that you read the rules of the challenge? Well, "rules", there's only one and it's "review virgin albums" and you reviewed Hate's latest release so it doesn't count :)

I wrote a short one yesterday, I'll be busy today but I'll continue tomorrow.

'K. will work on other albums then ;). I guess there a bunch of chilean extreme metal albums that no one has reviewed yet and I own.

Popped out three last night after the opening bell. I came up with a list of 40 or so possible virgins and didn't think I'd come anywhere close to reviewing all of them, but who knows?

I only have a list of about 20 or so, most of which I'll probably be able to tick off. I won't go too hard, 2-3 a day starting today.

Already popped off two this morning for Burst. I feel like 1-2 a day until Friday will hold me over for this contest.

Just hit Crystallion's latest album, might do one or two more tonight before turning in. I'm working from a fairly short list this time, but if I feel particularly inspired and end up completing it, it'll be somewhere around 20 albums.

Pretty good turnout for the first day. If things keep going like this, this will be a hell of a lot better than the last reviewing challenge. Personally, I've already done half of what I did last challenge in one day.

Edited for stupid brainfart

Yeah, same. I've gotten five albums done on day 1 alone, going to try to go for six or seven before the night's over. The turnout for this challenge is promising. :)

I wrote one review for the last challenge, albeit one that seems to have entertained a lot of people... though I don't think anyone has listened to the band based on it :P

I have written four so far, though a few of the Ebony Tears ones may be marked with asterisks for shitty old reviews that I deleted, and some more if anyone cares about reviews that Tony deleted a while ago, if anyone cares. The reviews were shit and the band deserved a fair description, so I don't think it matters when we're simply writing to offer quality coverage of more material as a goal.

Okay, just managed to chalk up a review for Astronomikon's debut a few minutes before midnight, so that makes 2 for me for the first day. I'm tempted to hit Amon Amarth's new album given that it just got unlocked, even though probably 6 or 7 others will hit it soon after if not a couple before me.

Ah yes, just checked my counter again and I've only got 6 more to go before I hit the 2,000 mark. I'm contemplating doing a particularly in-depth review to mark the occasion, which will involve me delving into an album that I'm surprised hasn't gotten a review on here, though admittedly the band hasn't been heavily reviewed to begin with. I've also noted that I'll most likely end up reaching 800 reviews for power metal albums according to the empath page. Despite my best efforts to diversify my reviews sub-genre wise, I'm still sticking pretty close to the territory I was in back in 2005 when I joined this site.

Considering that the album is a late 90s power metal album that exclusively deals with fantasy themes, I'd argue that is a virtual impossibility. ;)

Also, I wouldn't count the reviews for the new Amon Amarth, that's not exactly the point of the challenge :)

Amon Amarth just new it was coming, and planned accordingly!

I'll accept whatever the consensus is on this, I was going to review that album regardless to there being a challenge, though this would be a change in policy from every review challenge done previously.

It was just a joke, obviously. It does kinda go against the initial idea of the challenge, but it doesn't break any rule. Where would we draw that line?

That line is quite easy to draw: nothing released *during* the challenge week counts as a virgin in need of reviewing.

This. The challenge for me is to deflower albums without reviews that need some, not the freaking new Amon Amarth album which will get 20 reviews in less than 4 days from fanboys and veteran reviewers alike. This goes against the definition of a Review Challenge for me.

Gonna go back to the first page for my official opinion:

This.

We're fine how we are, no need to fuck with it, it just so happened that a very big and popular band released an album during the challenge, oh well.
