i've brought up https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Asmodeo050214 before, he's STILL adding lyrics 1b1 and has made over 700 points almost exclusively on them... have you notified him?

This user is doing updatings with wrong English capitalization:

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Holy_Moses/1541
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Haemorrhage/2556

Well, he should be definitely notified.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Kald%20Algide

This user makes completely unnecessary logo updates with no improvement in pixels/background cleaning or anything. In fact, ecen replacing in my view better looking colorful logos with otherwise identical black and white ones.

For example:
2022-01-22 16:30:11
2022-01-22 15:21:57

Not to mention making the word "contact" bold without any other update:
2022-01-22 15:21:57

Also, is there any point in updating Bandcamp links to just add "/music"?

He's done it again.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Dr ... 3540500853

wojty666 had added the logo in a pretty neat way and he's replaced it with a modification of the logo in monochrome.

It also happened here too: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Eliptic/3540500788

While certainly not acting in ill-faith, such modifications are not necessary.

Looking at his modification history, it's one of the most common things he does. He doesn't improve the logos whatsoever, just changes them into white... Wether he's point whoring or believes the site prefers white logos (for whatever reason) is difficult to tell.

I sent a message to Kald Algide. Have noticed him making meaningless edits, as well. Hopefully this will help.

Is this rule still in effect?

"You must show us where ANY album is hosted; acceptable distribution methods include any legitimate music portals that offer full downloads, be they global or more local (most prominently iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, Bandcamp...)."

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=132973&hilit=You+must+show+us+album+is+hosted

I am finding way too many cases where a digital version has no host. The tracks differ from another digital version already on MA, or on another downloading site. I cannot check to see if the MA listed version is correct without any host, yet MODS are telling me to use CTRL U, which is not possible unless there is a host to check.

Dembo needs a "Friendly reminder" since I have had to deal with several of their non-hosted releases they posted this week alone, on submitted reports by others, like this one where their non-hosted digital release was missing most of the tracks. So how do I know if it should be deleted or revised? https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ra ... 3540499686
Another one with no host and diferent track lengths:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/L ... A9/1010197

I saw on the forum that Hellblazer mentioned last Fall 2021 that no host is needed if the release appeared on many downloading sites. This needs to be qualified IMHO with the version field saying somthing like Most Download Services, or we cannot determine if the rellease is accurate or has errors for release dates, track lengths, etc. When we get a report, how do we know it was released on several downloading sites if the version field is blank? My reports have so many contradictions from several MODs that I cannot fix errors on reports without the host field filled in.

I am swimming in cans of worms everyday with many of the above issues on several reports so can only X them out and leave them unassigned, unfixed, etc. Perhaps it is because I fix around 50% of the unassigned MA reports every day that I am the only one with this problem, but I need to know what to do and somehow see version fields filled in with hosts more than I see them.

Good point, things are not clear regarding this issue. I personally don't agree with your point of view and prefer to keep the field empty. I guess the version description "digital" is more than enough to represent the situation and what you are calling "hosts" are useless redundant information. As long as the album was officially digitally released at some point, then it was digitally released. Some hosts are "linked" in a way, that even the band members don't have a clue that their album was "hosted" on them.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Mole666 (who has already racked up a coupla mentions on this thread), is adding compilation appearances 1b1. I know he's doing it "per album" (predictably from discogs), and not "per band", but if you look at the BG edits page for.ex https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /band/id/3 thats quite a few points. he's also very sloppy when doing it https://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/782619 . I know he's not breaking any rules, but perhaps he could be doing what he's doing with a little more diligence. at the very least to avoid getting reports for duplicate entries filed.

While I could see it being considered that by the letter of the law, I'm fine with these edits for several reasons.

1. He's already at max rank and has no privileges to gain from this.
2. This info isn't necessarily all found together, although it may be on a site like Discogs.
3. These edits are almost all hours apart, across different days.
4. The pattern as a whole looks like someone who is researching stuff on a band over a long period of time and making valid and previously missing contributions to MA, which makes these valid and valuable.

Good eyes on the edit history, but these are definitely good contributions and not abuse to gain rank, which is what point-whoring really is.

His edits are sometimes wrong (capitalization) or incomplete as he corrects only one word, see his last actions.

The user Wilytank (https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Wilytank) systematically vandalizes certain pages by removing without reason functional links such as Homepage, Official Merchandise etc. A few examples:

Imdistro: https://www.metal-archives.com/users/imdistro
- from January 3-10, added a lot of compilation appearances with horrible formatting, including leaving raw links to pictures of the compilations in the additional notes/bio sections. I've already explained to them how to format compilation appearances correctly, and have now sent another message. If anyone feels like helping to clean up the slop that was entered in during the time period mentioned above, and possibly to check out some of their other edits to see if there are other issues, it would be appreciated.

You're not a mod, so stop doing that shit. I will be restoring those working links that you're removing. Go be sofa justice warrior somewhere else.

I've started removing links to NS blogs, labels and distros from band pages too. Hoping it's ok to go for it across-the-board. Would rather be honest and say I am doing this so if it's wrong I can know rather than make a huge mistake days later and have to have staff revert stuff.

This user (who seems to be involved somehow with the band he's editing) has added many versions of this album, probably because he doesn't know how to properly add the info:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/M ... ka/1016478

ATTENTION, this last version I've linked is the one that has all the lyrics, it's the previous versions that need to be deleted otherwise the lyrics will be lost.

Thanks

I don't know why the first version of the album had only six tracks.

The guy who added the band is now trolling. Probably another one of those entries that need to be done away with along with the submitter.

Hey
This person has added a few more identical versions:

They definitely should be warned or something.

Maybe my suspicion is wrong, but It's a bit strange that this band has quite a lot of upvotes for certain bands that mostly come from accounts with zero point.
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/To ... 3540471511

For example, 7 votes for "Bathory" were all from 0 point accounts, and the same goes for a few other bands.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm suspecting this might be vote rigging.

Speaking of vote rigging, this guy has up-voted tons of bands for his own one, Rhythm of Fear:

Not sure what the limits are on upvoting your own band, but 13Candles did so 106 times for Rhythm of Fear (Florida, US), and just 7 for another band that he plays in, Talk Sick Earth. Other than 2 exceptions, his only votes have included one of these 2 bands.
