Volbeat - staying on site.

Seol (plagiarism claim) -
https://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/802704

Pending:
- Excruciate - discography is 1:36, format of sole release unknown:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hiG-_19giE
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Excruciate/2217

- Broken Autonomy (US) - listened more to it today. Vote for them to be removed - the most non-metal thing about them is the vocals, but the music/riffing probably isn't enough that they should stay on the site. Could use an additional opinion.

- OverSoul (France) - could use an additional opinion. At times the audio that's available sounds like groove metal, but there are plenty of breakdowns and nu-metalisms. Their earliest releases weren't added to their M.A. discography until 2019, so were not a factor in Oversoul being accepted onto the site in 2005. Would be fine with getting rid of them.

- Wahn (Ger) - were brought up in a report. Their only release has in the additional notes: "This tape was not for sale. Only a few copies were made." Note added by still-active user 'uglur' in 2015 - maybe could be contacted about further detail.

- Cleanse - new single has same artwork as demo that they were added based on.

In cases where a band quickly changes their name or deletes their (exclusively) digital discography but have been accepted to the site, is there a particular window of time in which they should either have the page renamed (including a note of the previous name), or be removed?
Example: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bo ... 3540491746

Deleted Scarvxs (Brazil) - Only discography so far is a 2-song Nocturnal Obscurum re-release, and they're already on the site.

Cleanse is okay to stay on the site, I've heard from other moderators (they put out a digital single with artwork that was the same as the demo that they got accepted to the site based on). The single shouldn't be added to the discography, just mentioned in additional notes if anyone sees a similar case come up later.

I always had the impression that these cases are rightfully valid. Should we report them for deletion or for what specifically? There is a couple of them on the site already (multiple releases with the same artwork where at least one of the releases has more than one song).

GraveWish - to the best of my understanding, when 2 or more digital singles have the same artwork they're not valid to add to the discography, but if an EP or album has the same artwork as a digital single, the single isn't valid for adding, but the EP or album is. If 2 digital releases each with more than one song but different from each other have the same artwork, not sure.

I honestly think some bands just don't know how to operate bandcamp.

Yea I have the same impression. Typical example: https://highkarateboston.bandcamp.com/ read the information here: http://www.highkarateband.com/music.html
I don't know what to do with the band.

Edit: Someone just added the band to the queue.

Yes, there are many examples of bands talking about how their EPs are released and you go on bandcamp and it's 7 separate songs/releases of singles with the same cover art.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Vathr/3540511211

Everything is fine with this submission; however I would like to raise the submission question (probably) once again. I added Vathr for submission on 2022-09-16 00:00:02; the release date is officially 16th of September (trusted information by the label). However, at 2022-09-16 06:02:12 it was rejected, because the album had not been available at that moment yet (still at Pre-order status), and that's fine by me. However, just several days ago almost identical situation with Retador had different outcome:

https://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/804470

I'd like to point out, what PiotrB stated in the report. Don't want to look like bitching here, but it would be great to constantly apply equal decisions, and know, if we submit bands ONLY when the album is available for disposal, or submitting on 00:00:00 (site) time on the official release date is also acceptable.

Yes, this shouldn't have happened. PiotrB didn't do the right thing at all and now he's been made aware of his mistake. The submission should've been rejected. Also, the user who engaged in this practice has been told now not to submit stuff before it's officially released. However, since it's approved already it has been decided that the submission will stay. But for clarity's sake, don't submit bands before the release is actually released. That is valid for each and every submitter.

Storm Surge
Spoiler: show
- might need to be deleted, unless the Norwegian band has a valid release. Pending mod attention at the moment, just placing here as a reminder:
https://www.metal-archives.com/report/v ... /show/mine

- taken care of

Deleted Blackhole (UK) - riffs aren't metal.
https://open.spotify.com/artist/1yqdmVm2OQl4otyvIKLXA6

Deleted Halcón (Mex) (Rock/Pop) and Rito Inicial (Mex) (Rock/Punk).

Deleted Broken Autonomy (US) - lack of metal riffs.

Deleted OverSoul (France) - Nu-metal.

- Black from the Pit - https://www.metal-archives.com/report/v ... 7/show/all - okay to keep. Have changed genre to Southern/Groove Metal, since it's definitely not straight thrash as the genre had originally stated.

Deleted Isiul (Aus) - minor name change to Isiulusions.

MDL: The first Jennie Tebler release had all music written/played by Quorthon. The first post-Quorthon release was under her name (like the first), and the music was composed by Kent Jädestam. Both artists and both songs appeared on the album released by Jennie Tebler's Out of Oblivion. I'd say they would be okay all on the same page, unless you want to separate the first 2-song release and compilation appearance (band active 2004-2005) from the second 2-song release and album with Out of Oblivion in the title. Could use another opinion or two.

Wondering if this bare-bones, possible mistake entry should stay on the site -
Spoiler: show
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Na_Name/111403
A link from version 1 of the site led to the expired StrilloStrano page. Here is an archived version of it from the month after the band was added in November '07:
https://web.archive.org/web/20071209220 ... m/home.htm
I haven't been able to locate where the information about 'Na Name' came from here, but have only searched around here a little bit.
4 months earlier than Na Name was added, the band Noname, also from Italy (listed as heavy/power metal instead of thrash) was added. Alt. spelling No Name and 'not to be confused with' note weren't added until this year.
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Noname/98167
Leaving it here for more opinions before deleting.

- Deleted / moved to research thread.

Deleted "Black Scepter", "Brunhilde" and "Eöl"
(this guy's bands: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Ulv/880316)

as well as "Katharos" from Germany.

For all of those the bandcamp page was deleted shortly after getting accepted on MA, likely within a day after their albums got "released".
Therefore none of them have VR.

Another case where merging both pages makes more sense:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ol ... 3540494514
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ca ... 3540496252
There is no logo whatsoever on the releases, besides the name was previously modified from Old World Vulture to Old World Viper on MA.

Also this one https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bo ... 3540491746

Simulation Defect
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Si ... 3540513341

Music sounds more like technical djent... is this really allowed on here? I would think there isn't enough death metal in this to be allowed on the database (otherwise I dont see why Vildhjarta isn't here because this isn't too far from what they play)

Simulation Defect - since I accepted it, going to wait for other moderator's opinions. It still sounded okay to me after another listen, but if the consensus is for deletion that's totally fine here.

GraveWish, I haven't heard anything back from the August 28th post where I asked for clarification, but could take care of changing the pages to the new name if there is a moderator that can verify that it should be done.

There's a plagiarism claim for Omega (Mexico) - haven't checked it out yet.
