Just a thought for consistent site policy.

Tony Iommi recorded two solo albums, one with Ian Gillan, one with Glen Hughes, and the label in both cases told him to name them as Black Sabbath to better sell them. Xasthur is releasing albums of his Nocturnal Poisoning project as Xasthur.

What exactly is the official reason why Tony Iommi solo albums force-renamed to Black Sabbath by the label to boost sales are valid but a guy using his old band name to boost sales is not?

At least in the Xasthur case, if I recall correctly, Malefic considers the "black metal" Xasthur to be dead, and this new Xasthur, renamed from Nocturnal Poisoning, as something entirely different. Note that he still re-issues material for the old "black metal" Xasthur on occasion, but keeps the new Xasthur separate. When the break is deliberate and sustained, with some level of difference between the projects, we do consider that in our decisions on band pages.

That's different from a band wanting to restart a now disbanded project, or with a band that officially considers their new music to fall under their old name (as I imagine may be the case with Black Sabbath here).
