Trying to list sympho-BM bands in advanced search:
Genre = *Symph*Black*, which lists only 17 bands.

Bands like Dimmu Borgir won´t be listed, although their Genre says so (Symphonic Black Metal).
How come?

The asterisk * that comes before the word Black in the search performs a search for bands whose genre has the letters 'symph' prior to and attached to the word 'black' (by the / symbol, the case with all of those results). Try this one:

Alright, I see wildcards are interpreted in an unusual way.
Second you´re assuming to know that a simple blank (or a slash) is used for seperating words, which is also quite unusual - but user-friendly(!), only I did not know this.
Thanks to your example I found out about the full logic behind.

So in my case the search phrase "Symphonic/Black" would lead to the expected results (1307), while the usage of "Symphonic/Black*" would also include a few more Blackened bands (1331).
Thanks for your help, KingSpooky! - Topic can be closed.

Furthermore, the enumeration order of search phrases (separated by blank or slash) does not matter.
Also very unusual, but *fantastic*, if only one knows.
So "Black*/Symphonic" leads to the same results as "Symphonic/Black*".
