What is user Hazardous_Waters doing? He's been updating a million well-known bands: Nevermore, 1349, Black Label Society, Cradle of Filth, Hypocrasy, Stormtroopers of Death, etc.

User gynecologo_clitoral keeps adding a track time to just one track on an album.

Some of the bands:
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=60605
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=52245
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=24668
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=79367

I'm guessing he's downloading a free track from each bands official website then adding that single track time, not the whole album times?

wrong thread + you did not add the COUNTRY TAG (Ltu) if I correctly remember

I'm FED UP to have to add them for you all, so now, no country tag = rejected

You can use the search "Bands by letter" to see if there are bands with the same name already and add the country tags

All right, but have in mind it's still up to us to add the country tag to the bands that are already in the archives!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see anything about adding country tags in the help section. Maybe instead of having "If you can't figure that one out, you may shoot yourself now." in the adding bands part you should put something like "Before submitting a band, check to see if there is another band with the same name from a different country. If there is, add a 3 letter country tag after the band name". This might take care of some of the instances of bands that should have a country tag.

I didn't know how country tags worked (I actually thought they might have been added automatically when needed) and now I have a band in the queue which should have a country tag. (Which I apologize for.)

I would second this. I recently added Blackwitch and I was aware that there were already other bands with the same name added to the MA, so I was not 100% sure what to do. The first thing I did was added the Country Tag, but then deleted it again, because I though that I would recieve a message or that sort before adding it to the MA. It did not happen and so the band is in the MA without the tag. In a way I expected it to be added somhow automatically or that sort if there were already other bands of that same name. On the "adding site" are informations missing regarding this problem.

Now you'll know and this is mainly directed towards REGULAR/OLD submitters who have contributed to the site for years and who should be aware of this.

I don't mind adding it from time to time but a guy who adds ALL his bands without country tags, I can't support it anymore.

Ask Sadomatic_Slaughter, I did it with him and it worked, now he systematically adds the country tags

Didn't want to make a whole new thread for this, but this smelled like point-whoring to me. It appears that someone is adding the personal Myspaces of the musicians in various well known bands under the Official link section (see Dark Funeral). Seems like bullshit to me. Should I remove that as soon as I see it? Just letting all the other members know to keep an eye for it.

My first actual report of a pointwhore! :P

Well, sort of. I can't exactly see what he changed, but a slew of updates on about a dozen famous bands have been made by Jesusbathe, all within 2 or 3 minutes. If someone could point out what he's doing, that'd be useful.

Edit: It's reached a startling amount of bands now, all with almost certainly useless updates.

Different story with "obscure or long forgotten" bands. Personal myspace.com pages of ex-musicians are often The ONLY source to generate sufficient information of lesser or unknown metal formations of the past. Such important sources need to remain part of the band documentation.

Yeah, I know. But this is Dark Funeral, so I wasn't sure if I should be deleted.

This is common now.... I complained in 2006 about releases already added for 2007 and I was told "OK if the tracklisting is confirmed"...

Some bands already complained for that because some people try to order albums that are not yet out

but here, nobody listens to me :oh shit:

Or Dimmu Borgir or Dream Theater or ...
There were reviews added weeks before the CD was out.

Not sure if this is considered pointwhoring, but CIAO666 keeps adding links to many bands (like blackdeath, ...in the woods, darkthrone, ect.) all to the same website http://www.metalformaniacs.com/, just under different link names

as far as i noticed he stopped for now, he got a pm or a clue. Saw him from the beginning though, accumulated all current points with that link alone. Most if not all are useless, they're well known bands
