I have a problem with Firefox (Gecko/20070312 Firefox/1.5.0.11) which does not appear with IE5.5 or Netscape 4.73 or Netscape 7.

When scrolling down to the discography of a band and clicking on a release, everything works fine. Clicking on "back" should return me again to the position where I clicked on the release. But all the time the page starts again on the top. So I have to scroll down again (incedibly nerve-wrecking on e.g. Nunslaughter's page).

On other pages (like ebay) when I click on an item, and there I press back, I'll get returned to the position where I had clicked the link. It doesn't start again with the top of the page.

Do any other users have this problem ?
Is there any workaround possible ?

EDIT: It works without problems when "browsing by country". When I clock in Germany, scroll down like hell, click on a band, click "back", then I am on the same position down on the page as before.

I think that is a quite common problem; I had it with the 1.5 and 2.0 line of the Fx.

It is indeed a bug... goddamit...

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215405

anyway... here is the solution:

http://www.gozer.org/mozilla/extensions/
gozer wrote:
Restore Scroll Position v0.4 (Firefox 0.9-2.0.0.*):
Restore page scroll position for pages with no-cache and related headers. (see bug 215405)

News: Version 0.4+ can restore the scroll position on reload if restorescrollposition.reload is enabled, and on shift+reload (no-cache) if .forceReload is enabled.

http://www.gozer.org/mozilla/extensions ... sition.xpi
(Download and then install, just move the XPI into the extension "browser")
Right-click on link and then "save target as"

tested it and it WORKS! :metal:
for The Fx 0.9 to 2.0
