It appears that I'm not getting any emails from the site, and I have the right box checked in my profile. First, I wrote a review to Electric Wizard's Come My Fanatics..., and it was approved, but I never got an email informing me of that. Now, I've written a review for Hellhammer's Apocalyptic Raids (the EP), and it appears that it got rejected (I hadn't got any emails). First, I got one point added to my account for no several reason, so I guess it's for "trying" to write a review. Second, now when I click "add review", my saved review isn't there, which means it was deleted. My assumption is that it was deleted for containing the name "Sarcófago", as was one of my other reviews rejected for containing "détente" (I was told specifically of that). So, I tried to submit the review again, but I still need to know how to get emails from the MA. My email works just fine, and I receive other letters.

While I'm on it, does anybody have an idea why when I wrote in a review "–" (and not the shorter hyphen "-") it was shown after its submission as " – "?! On another review it worked just fine.

E-mails have always been a problem around here. I do not receive themn, too lately. If you search this particular forum for the topic 'e-mail' you will find several threads discussing this problem. There is not much you can do, except for waiting and hoping that it might work fine again in the future.

The second problem might something I'd categorize under the topic special typos and therefore I'd suggest that you change the coding in your browser to see the more appropriate signs.

Regarding the hyphen issue, I don't think that's it (different coding). I'm able to view one of my other reviews with that hyphen, as it is.

About the Hellhammer review, I can at least give you some information there. I rejected it, because it needed proofreading/polish. There were various errors, the largest of which was an unclosed/misarranged italics tag that caused most of the final paragraph to appear in italics (it seemed clear you had only meant to italicize some song or album titles). You would have been informed of this in the rejection notice, but alas....

....the e-mail problems are getting worse, but there's nothing to be done, beyond letting Morrigan/HellBlazer know about it (which has been done). I myself do not currently receive mail from the site. In these cases, you've little recourse but to ask about uncertainties such as this on the board. The mail comes and goes, apparently...I was also the one who handled the review with the 'Détente' thing, which suggests that you were formerly receiving at least some of the site's mail.

The character encoding problem (which is what lead to the full hyphen being displayed as gibberish) mostly seems to affect reviews that were pasted over from certain kinds of text format. Pasting to MA from a simpler format/program (such as Notepad / .txt) often helps in avoiding the matter. Writing the review directly into the submission window works as well, though this is understandably not always ideal.

Oh, and about that one point. I believe it was the result of a report you had submitted, which I also have some dim recollection of having handled.

Thanks for answering. I now found the HTML syntax error and fixed it, so it should be fine now. Regarding the encoding problem, I save all of my reviews on Notepad in .txt format, and in case that I didn't finish my review I just paste it back to the site from Notepad; I don't use Word or anything of that sort, so it's still a moot point, I suppose. Anyhow, I re-submitted the review and it should have no formatting errors now.

I have the same problem too. I did not received any e-mails for my Straasha / Numenor and Antestor's The Return Of The Black Death reviews. I do not know what happened to them :(

So, just because you should know, I have rejected your Slough Feg submission. They now use the shorter form of their orginial name, which is not a name change as such.

Fair enough, I was simply surprised that no one bothered to re-add them to the MA after two full-length albums under a different name, so I did it myself.

There should really be fixed, written rules on bands that have changed their name, since nowadays they are judged only according to what has been said on this forum almost two years ago and people are constantly trying to submit bands with only a spelling change in the name as their new names.

The site owners can take it as a suggestion from me. :p
