I'm a collector of official music videos by bands. I just posted in the FFA thread and realized I had about 50gb of vids.

I think it would be neat to have a section on a bands page just above the album releases that says what official videos have been made.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea?

Maybe even have them link to any band sanctioned downloads of said video.

There is already the possibility to include a VHS tape or DVD compilations of videoclips, or official DVD video singles. It would not be so useful for separate clips, they were actually not released to public in a physical form and that would bring complications.

You can list them in additional notes or make them part of a band's bio.

There is already a thread, where you can post band sanctioned videos or "for viewing only" videos on the metal forum.

When a band decides to make such clips available to all, they usually place it on their website or myspace, which are already linked.

IMO info about videos should be in album additional info (song1, song2 have videos...)
and in additional notes if video is made for song that wasn't released on LP/EP/single (like new Vader for game...)

I agree with the fact that it should be mentioned, either in additional notes for the band or for the album. Is there any official rule regarding this? I think it would be better to have them listed in the notes for the band because you can see them all in one place and not have to search through the band's discography.

Not really. Even a band as big as Metallica only has 21 music videos, that's not unreasonable at all.

Also if the videos were listed in the additional notes for an album, not a band, the maximum number would only be around 3.

Yeah, I see what you're saying about the DVD and VHS releases. But the problem with that is that not every band releases all their videos via those means.

I definitely think it would be beneficial to at least have a LIST of official videos rather than, like another poster said, have to go through each album release to see if there was a video from a track on that disc.

I believe the format could be done much like when you search out a song using the 'song title' search from the front page. You can have the album name and then the video/song title. I'm pretty indifferent to if there's additional information or not (guest appearances, directors name, where filmed), but eventually that would be pretty neat as well.

So, given the general consensus that it's not a bad idea... what now?

Maybe in v2. Until then, just add them to the album's additional notes.

When time and space collide.
No seriously, it doesn't seem like it will be anytime soon.
