I'm not sure if this has already been suggested but it occurred to me the other day that a forum dedicated to recommendations would possibly remove much of the clutter from the metal discussion board.

I'd support it. But I doubt it will happen; I'm pretty sure this has been brought up before.

I think a better idea would be to just create a topic with all of the results of the "Top [metal genre] album surveys" topics, or sticky or somehow merge the threads so as to not lose the discussions already going on in the individual topics. Hey, it's not necessarily recommendations as much as it is favorites, but I'd say based on the votes and the rankings, it's what those users would recommend.

Rec threads don't bother me. Their quality has improved recently.

I agree with this. I think a whole forum dedicated to recommendations is a bit much. A sticky recommendations thread starting with the poll results is a good idea in my opinion. I've seen recommendations threads work on other forums so I don't see why it wouldn't work here.

I agree with this for the most part but what about people who are looking for a very specific style or sound?
