Hello,

One thing I have noticed is that the search function of this site is incomplete in its ability to search for all of the bands in the database. An example of this is that I had searched for "Of Darkness" without any direct results, and searching for "darkness" had not indirectly revealed the band either - this led to a rejected band submission which I was penalised for. The only way to find this band was by browsing bands by country of origin. This may or may not be known already, but if the search function cannot reveal the entire database, it causes some confusion and annoyance over such things as band submissions, as shown with the aforementioned incident.

Edit: I've noticed that the search function now detects the band, although it didn't before - perhaps this reveals another feature of the issue.

Thankyou for your comprehension.

I found them by searching both of darkness and darkness, it took about 5 seconds. Apparently you didn't look hard enough. I really tend to believe that the original error was yours.

For future reference, you can go to the advanced search page and check the "exact match" box when searching for names that contain common words.

You were probably not logged in, hence the incomplete google search.

I've had a *similar* problem with a band called Misery's Omen. Searching for Misery's Omen or Miserys Omen brings no results. I have to search with just "Misery", though I suppose "Omen" would work as well. Anybody know why this is? Doesn't the search recognise apostrophes?

Happened to me a long time ago to and I think it caused me to add a band into the archives that was already there though I guess it is possible I misspelled but I checked and didn't see the error.

I would like to know why is that???

Is everyone sure that they have "band name" selected in the drop-down menu? You'll fail to get results if you have something else in there, such as genre.

Apologies if that's obvious to the point of insult to any of you but it is a feasible solution and worth mentioning just for completeness' sake.

Sounds vaguely similar to this issue:

Now that I think about it I've had this issue when searching for bands that have a apostrophe in their name. It only happened once but is very similar to what Bezerko mentioned.

Yeah, this happened to me a few times when looking for Paysage D'Hiver. But found the band when I searched for Paysage.

Seems like there was a bug with band names containing apostrophes... should work now.
