My question is about posting bands to the metal archives.

I recently joined Encyclopedia Metallum about a month ago, and immediately posted about 3 bands. None of them appear listed yet. I obviously know nothing about the usual routine of the site, but I've been waiting patiently for a long time for my bands to be accepted. Does anyone have an approximate estimate as to how long it usually takes for the staff to accept the bands?

Thanks.

Should have posted in the "Complaint" area of the board, but there is a band queue that is available to look at. Click "Submit a band" or whatever and somewhere on the page that pops up will say "submission queue", just look in there. Depending on the size and period of the year / month, it depends.

First, wrong forum. This should be in suggestions/complaints.

I haven't submitted any bands, so I can't give a turnaround time estimate (I assume it varies anyway). But there is a submission queue that you can check and see if they're still there.

It's possible that they were not accepted, but you didn't get any notification. I'm not sure how this works. If they were borderline (too much -core, too much noise, etc) or if you didn't provide adequate proof of existence, it's quite possible that they were rejected.

EDIT: Ozzy pretty much beat me to the punch. oh well. BTW ozzy, how's that review coming? ;)

Nothing as such in the queue, so they were likely rejected. Do you have notification selected in your profile? Even then, there have been problems with the notification mails so you might not have got them.

And yes, this kind of thread would go in the Suggestions and Complaints forum. Common reasons for rejection include:

1. The band is not metal
2. The band has no releases out YET
3. None of the releases is available in physical format
4. Assuming the reasons above don't apply in your case, ask yourself if you were able to prove it. Did you have reviews or MP3s to prove the genre, someway to prove that releases are available and in physical format (also see this topic).
5. The band was already in the archives but the user wasn't logged in and thus used the google search which didn't show the band in question.

I don't understand why they would be rejected, I provided links to the homepage/myspace of the band proving the genre and even providing music samples.

Moved to the appropriate forum. There is also a designated thread for this type of query.
