Yes, but the original proposal of thrash/death metal is hilarious. It has elements of thrash, heavy, groove metal and RAC. I do agree that the best route is likely "Thrash Metal/RAC".

Hmm, I didn't know someone had proposed Thrash/Death Metal. Yeah, Thrash Metal/RAC makes much more sense.

Knuckle Dragger's genre is fine, except I think Hardcore should be added to the tag; their three releases prior to the new ep were very hardcore, and less so death metal. So "Powerviolence/Grindcore/Hardcore/Death Metal."

Agoraphobic Nosebleed's genre is fine except Cybergrind needs to be added to the Grindcore tag (Cybergrind/Grindcore, Sludge/Doom Metal). They play more straightforward grind on Honky Reduction and Agorapocalypse, but are far more on the electronic cyber side of grind on Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope and--especially--Altered States of America.

Full of Hell's genre makes sense, somewhat, but they definitely play powerviolence and noise on their newest album. Might it just be better to condense the genre to "Powerviolence/Grindcore/Death Metal, Noise" (since the noise is played separate from the main genre, such as single tracks or segments of songs, or like the full EPs) and write in the notes that they shifted to a more deathgrind sound on their last two albums?

* https://neurotrecordings.bandcamp.com/a ... ike-i-ache (Another one off collaboration that fits the noise and powerviolence in the later style)

I've also seen that Slam has been added as a genre, and here are four band's that fit this tag:

* https://mancubus1.bandcamp.com/album/yo ... el-ep-2015

* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jhxWw8lghc

I'm not really sure why Noctem has thrash in their genre; they've just sounded like Melodic Black/Death their entire discography.
* https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Noctem/102839
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMb88dwS0BU

Spirit Possession sounds like first wave black metal, so I think Black/Speed Metal fits them better because they certainly aren't pure "black metal."
* https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sp ... 3540462766
* https://spiritpossession.bandcamp.com/album/2020-demo

Inhuman Nature is definitely defined as "crossover" on their new album. They have some crossover elements, with more hardcore elements on their first EP; vice versa on their new album. So, Thrash Metal/Crossover/Hardcore should be fine.
* https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/In ... 3540431445
* https://inhumannature.bandcamp.com/album/inhuman-nature

Tore Fagerheim is an artist I've been meaning to bring up for a while now. His full length album, which got him accepted, was pure Melodic Death Metal; however, he needs additional tags. He ventures into pure Metalcore at times. He also has many singles, of many different styles. I think his genre needs to be extended to "Melodic Death Metal, Metalcore, Various." I think the comma works better because he ventures between the really melodic melodies and then into harsh palmuting; not really musically combining the two at the same time.

Also, I think Rambo Hates Rainbows needs a slight addition, too. They released a Noisecore album in the middle of their discography, so "Black/Sludge/Doom Metal, Noisecore, Electronic." Of the few releases they have, it's the only other full length and the second longest release, so it's a legitimate style they've played. I can't find the first demo, but it included all three styles as well separately.

I saw it go back and forth in the rejection forum and thought they sounded interesting. It was originally uploaded as Black Metal/Black 'n' Roll then changed to Black Metal/Punk. Both are technically right, but accurately it's Black Metal/Crust 'n' Roll. It definitely has B&R elements, but leans more toward black metal with punk/roll elements. It sounds like Black Panda/Hejtman (who are actually on this site as crust 'n' roll) with black metal.
* https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bl ... 3540462938

I'm really sorry about this one, guys. Picha's early tag is mildly incorrect; the grindcore/noise early tag as it is would be accurate for a band like Full of Hell or Hatred Surge, but these two releases merit it two different genres: Noisegrind/Gorenoise. Both are uniquely different and are heavily incorporated in both. The noisegrind aspect of it incorporates heavy noise over grind riffs while having an odd uniqeness to it (like Anal Cunt or ShitFuckingShit's first album: https://shitfuckingshit.bandcamp.com/al ... -2006-2007). The gorenoise aspect is seen in parts of the first release and heavily in the second, where it is essentially harsh noise wall-grind, or basically goregrind with the gain and level turned up all the way. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyR9G-IALWA) those two samples/examples lay out the difference in the two and show how it is present in the early tag for Picha.

* https://picha.bandcamp.com/album/carepicha
* https://picha.bandcamp.com/album/culiando-renalmente

Gatecreeper are known for having started the hardcore influenced death metal and consistently incorporate it as a secondary genre. I'm not a huge fan of the influences/elements genre tag, but I think adding hardcore as one or the other is appropriate in this case. The hardcore sound is too representative to completely ignore for them.

Death to Honor (pre-Waking the Cadaver) are just listed as "death metal." It's definitely not the slamming brutal stuff they played once they changed their name, but it's still very hardcore influenced, so I'd suggest Death Metal/Hardcore or Death Metal/Deathcore. They don't "slam;" they just play death metal with hardcore influenced chugging.

I just realized that Infectious Grooves is on here and think that's awesome, but why is their genre funk rock? They play Funk Metal, a sub genre of Alternative Metal. They sound far less like Betty Davis and Funkadelic and more like Primus, Faith No More, and The Beyond. I would even say in the same vein as Scatterbrain, but that's a topic for another time (unless someone else thinks that "heavy" should be replaces with "Alternative").

Based on the note someone added to their page, wouldn't the genre warrant a possible change?

Normally, I'd probably edit the last post to add this in; but I think this is more important than that.

This one has been bothering me for a while. Why is Hermetica (https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/He ... 9tica/2721) listed as only Thrash Metal? Apart from the first album (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q796hC ... sX4lfd81NY and I'd say even that has more of the thrash/speed metal flavor of early Metallica and some straight speed metal and heavy metal tunes), they are mostly a heavy/speed metal band with some thrash riffs strewn about (https://open.spotify.com/artist/6j6Ld5h0aFgH0VQWQNazS7 "Intérpretes", "Ácido argentino", "Víctimas del vaciamiento").

While the current description accurately describes Bomber's first demo and full-length album, I would describe their later releases as Alternative Metal when considering the vague Funk influences. Falsche Freunde certainly isn't Hardcore Punk as the music has more in common with Faith No More, Soundgarden or (later) Uncle Slam than Black Flag, Leatherface, Agnostic Front or Madball.

If anyone is interested, I can also provide links for Geld regiert die Welt since it follows a similar theme and is nowhere to be found on YouTube.

Newly accepted "John Sullivan" needs a little tweaking:

His non-metallic albums are on Spotify:

https://open.spotify.com/album/4r7MSutfGimqGBw9JK3EPm

And then on "Higher than High" things switched to heavier music:

I brought No One Gets Out Alive (you know, the "banjo slam" project) up in a report, but it was promptly closed with no modification to the band's genre. Since the site has considered slam death metal to be a subgenre for about a year now, I think, and NOGOA is definitely slam, the genre should be changed for both time periods. "Slam/Brutal Death Metal (early), Slam/Brutal Death Metal/Bluegrass (later)"

See here.

TBH, I'm not exactly sure if this would be accepted as a band but I saw they weren't blacklisted, nor were they on the site, so I figured I would run this by the powers that be and see what kind of metal this is and not waste the time of the mods if it doesn't meet up with their standards: Their first full-length is coming up in about a month, featuring a singer that's been in several other bands, there are four supporting members that go by a "first name only" and with dozens of matches in those names, I'm not taking a chance on picking one that might be wrong just because he or she looks close. :)

The band is called Xordia:

Let Us Prey is listed as metalcore, although their one EP "The Saint of Killers" really doesn't have anything metalcore on it. For the most part it's a thrash/melodic death metal hybrid release.

Hi there friends.
Post Mortal Possession: Technical death metal (or technical/brutal death metal can be added too in my opinion)
All albums I've heard of them can be labeled on this genre, cheers :)

I was checking some stuff of the band Pecado. Recently, I saw their Metallum’s page and it says “Death Metal”.
It’s obvious their Death Metal influences on their Ep “Christ Invasion”. But in “7 Psalms, 7 Sins” their sound has more Black Metal atmospheres in a low tune. On February, the band released “Baphomet”, a single for their upcoming second album. This song it’s a change in the sound, the riffs and voice changes to Black Metal to enhace the atmospheres.
The band specifies that plays “Paganus Black Metal” since 2010. So it’s a mistake that their have been catalogued as Death Metal.

Here are some links:

Hey people, Goatscrote have tons of "noise elements" too, I believe it would be good adding Noise after black/death metal imo.

Just give a listen to every release they got, harsh drums, raspy bass, lots of missed guitar notes (on purpose I think) and out of tune https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Go ... 3540467820

Good material tho, pretty nice.

Hello
A band that I added, Инсургент, had its genre changed to a less accurate one before being accepted. I submitted it with the genre Metalcore/Groove Metal/RAC (probably Metalcore wasn't right) but then it was accepted with the genre Groove Metal. While it's true their last album is groove metal, their previous records are just hardcore punk/RAC with barely any metal influences, especially in their second release. My suggestion would be to have it changed back to

Groove Metal/RAC
Groove Metal, RAC

Witcher created a report for this.

Thanks

While it isn't inaccurate to call All Out War's discography "Thrash Metal/Crossover/Hardcore," is there a reason why Metalcore isn't in the genre field? The majority of their work can be safely considered Metalcore with only the first two albums primarily featuring both Thrash Metal and Metalcore.

Same with Merauder. Metalcore should be added to the genre field.

On another note, I think Overcast merits "Thrash Metal" in the genre field because Expectational Dilution (first 12 tracks here) is as much Thrash as it is Metalcore.

Changed the first two to metalcore, they're definitely metalcore bands throughout their discography, while those other styles are present but more peripheral.

Regarding Overcast, I think metalcore is sufficient. I've always heard of and thought of them as a landmark in metalcore, and while it's different than the style of metalcore those guys would be playing in other bands a decade later, it's definitely metalcore.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Heruka/34513 so I haven't listened to the first album, but the second one really doesn't seem to be symphonic unless I'm missing something

Not sure if this needs a report yet, but if needed I'll go file one.

Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore in the vein of Heaven Shall Burn or probably Melodic Death/Groove Metal/Metalcore:

Tygers of Pan Tang should have a hard rock/AOR (mid) tag added. The albums The Cage (1982), The Wreck-Age (1985), and Burning in the Shade (1987) all demonstrate this style.

I wanted to suggest for a while now to change the Black Tribe genre from "Experimental Black Metal, Industrial/Noise" to "Experimental Black Metal, Various" because aside from the experimental black metal there's really a whole lot of everything with no specific focus.

Hello, I wanted to make a case that Sonata Arctica just being listed as power metal should be changed. The early material is totally power metal, however a lot of the newer stuff has very different sound. I think it would be much more fitting if it were to switch to something like "power metal (early), melodic/progressive metal/rock (now)" for example. There are many fans of the early material who feel similarly about the band in its current state. Also in a 2019 interview with Tony Kakko, he claimed that "the music style has changed from the early days because that was just a phase that we happen to land our recording contract with"

Thank you for your time and stay safe.

Of course they still will make some more power metalish songs here and there, on new albums but that is almost more often than not, there as a throwback for older fans. I would suggest listening to all of Ecliptica and Silence, then listen to Stones grow her name, the ninth hour and Talviyo and you can hear the difference.

About a month ago, Dutch band Vandenberg (a band I have been listening for a long time and am familiar with their discography) was accepted based on their last album: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Va ... 3540469608

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=127932&p=2912327&hilit=vandenberg#p2912327

As the band was blacklisted based on their 80's output, I proposed to change the genre to the following: Hard Rock (early), Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (later) , but the report was rejected.

Here are their 80s albums:

It is usual for bands that were accepted based on their later albums:

Keys Of Orthanc latest of three albums is pure Ambient/Dungeon Synth. I'm curious if that should just be relegated to the releases additional info, or the band page genre should be changed to Atmospheric Black Metal, Ambient/Dungeon Synth.
