Into the Moat certainly is mathcore. I would know, I used to listen to them. Then I realized that they were bad... Not metal enough.

technical death-influenced mathcore for me. Probably not metal enough, but annoying enough IMO

Right you are - technical death influenced mathcore but clearly, to my ears at least, much more mathcore - the tech-death influences are passing and rather negligible.

This band isn't even on the archives, so who cares?

I noticed on Finsterforst's page that they are classified strictly as Viking Metal. I'd venture to say that there is significantly more folk than Viking influence in their music, especially considering the lyrical content makes little to no mention of Viking-realted themes, and I am curious as to why there is no mention of Folk in their genre. I can see how this might be a little bit nitpicky, but I really think that labeling them as folk metal or folk/viking metal would be more accurate.

Here's a link to their stuff: http://www.myspace.com/finsterforst
The track 'Von Glorreichem Schmerz' most accurately represents the overall sound of the band.

Dammit. Try this one: http://www.last.fm/music/Finsterforst
Von Glorreichem Schmerz isn't on this one but Schatten Der Nacht is similar and is the best example if that helps any

Wulfgar (Swe)
Genre(s) Epic Viking/Folk Death Metal
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=71210

These guys play a mid-paced version of Amon Amarth's melodic death metal. There are NO traces of folk metal or viking metal here, or anything resembling epic metal, as dubious as that genre can be.

Not sure what Etno-rock is, but i'm pretty sure it's some kind of folk rock.

Edit: Found the whole album for streaming. It's some kind of modern/alternative rock :

I think to have the great band HELMET tagged just as "Heavy Metal/Hard Rock" is misleading... maybe Groove or....Alternative? (i dont like much that tag either...so) I dont know what experts can say... (I dont give a link because my browser doesn't show any band link... just metal-archives.com... weird)

Okay, so I recently added Deshock:
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540280484

And I had "nu metal" in the genre, and I had it there for a reason. They released some nu metal material. Why did mods remove this from the genre?
Here is a sample from their later album:
http://www.imeem.com/people/wt6PXUC/mus ... lic-enemy/

Please add Nu Metal to their genre once again.

Edit: Thanks, MMisantropo, I don't know why that tag got removed in the first place.

Fatal Fear (Kor) has changed styles to a more mainstream Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore sound:

I don't know if has ever been discussed

Dark Manthra
Brutal Dark Metal
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=59600
www.myspace.com/darkmanthra

I don't hear the "brutal" in their music and IMO "black" is much more appropriated than "dark" for this case.
I think their genre is simply "Black Metal", at most "Black/Death Metal"

Baekdoosan has reformed again with 80s line-up!!!! How exciting!

They have returned to their old style of traditional heavy metal/hard rock!

Genre should read:
Traditional/Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (1986-1993), Thrash/Death Metal (Savage Violence), Traditional/Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (2009~)

If you need a link...http://www.last.fm/music/Baekdoosan/_/W ... ?autostart

They also re-recorded some old songs like "Up in the Sky" for the album. This is THE original line-up, from the first album.

How about: Traditional/Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (1986-1993, 2009-), Thrash/Death Metal (Savage Violence)

If it's still too long, i don't think traditional is really that important, so it can be:
Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (1986-1993, 2009-), Thrash/Death Metal (Savage Violence)

Yeah, it fits. I didn't pay attention that the first and last genre were the same in the first place.

Savage Violence actually was released in 2006, and not 2007, but I guess I'm just nitpicking.

Also i think the submitter wanted to be "kvlt". The band's name is Sun of the Blind and not "Svn of the Blind".

Threat Signal's genre should be changed to either "Melodic Death Metal/Groove Metal" or "Gothenburg/Groove Metal". Either way, the Lamb of God-esque groove metal presence in their music is undeniable. You can it out for yourself here. Also, here's the band's MA page.

The band has switched it's style to some kind of Melodic Black for their last EP.
Genre should be changed to : Gothic/Doom Metal (early), Melodic Black Metal (Later).

The new songs are on Myspace:

Edit : sorry, forgot to mention which band. It's My Shadow:

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter:

It's true that their first 3 albums were folkish death metal, but later they have changed their style to some kind of modern rock or whatever it is. I think it's a bit misleading to leave just death/folk metal.

So change genre to Death/Folk Metal (early), Whatever they sing now (later)

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=2530

Here's their myspace with new songs, so you can decide what their new style is :

The band Waverly Hills was just added, and is labeled "Progressive Death Metal". Take a listen to their songs on myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/waverlyhillsmetal

They are clearly a straight-up deathcore band.

I think a straight up 'Alternative Metal' would fit for Helmet. Also, Death is listed as Death Metal (Early) and then Death/Progressive (Later). I think the later period should just be changed to Progressive Death Metal, maybe also adding a Technical Death Metal tag.

Alternative metal should be avoided as a tag, it means either nothing or pure nu-metal.

As for Death, technical death metal is not a special genre. i do not know what many people try to impose those pseudo-tag, which are popular among youtube/myspace teenage cowd, upon us. Those are no genres, but descriptions of musical/compositor skill

Then why are bands here tagged as alternative metal when it means 'nothing or nu-metal'? I thought nu-metal wasn't allowed here?

And if technical death metal isn't a genre then remove it from the 474 bands that come up when one searches 'technical death metal'. (Furthermore remove it from the 749 bands that have the word 'techincal' in their genre description.)
