Judging by the two tracks on The Crowned Virgin's myspace the "grindcore" tag on their page is unnecessary.

Butchered have an unnecessary "gory" tag in their genre.

Replica (Esp) have an unnecessary "90's" tag. I think just "Thrash Metal" would be fine.

Thrash Metal.

Simply Black Metal would be enough for this:

No need for the forward slashes after "brutal".

Therion. I don't know why, but the link to their band page does not work.
They are defined as "Death Metal (early), Symphonic / Operatic Metal (later)"

Is symphonic/operatic metal a genre or are those adjectives? Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

I don't know. Is that distinction relevant to this thread?

Equinox (Nor) has an unnecessary "," in their genre. It should just be "Technical Thrash".

Macabre Manifest is listed as "Satanic War Black Metal". I believe "Black Metal" is more appropriate.

I noticed that all Christian black metal bands are listed as 'Black' Metal. Here's one that isn't:

Mittwinters genre should be changed to something like Ambient/Darkwave, Black Metal

The Vinterdrom Full Length is entirely Ambient/Darkwave
The split is a mix of black metal and ambient/darkwave

Crimson Thorn is listed as "Death Metal" but I believe "Thrash Metal (Early) Blackened Death Metal (Now)" is more appropriate. Wikipedia has them listed as "Blackened Death Metal". "Thrash Metal (Early) Blackened Death Metal (Now) seems correct because their first demo "Plagued" was entirely Thrash Metal. Their style now is more Blackened Death Metal. If you listen to their album "Unearthed" you will notice it.

Mortiis Industrial/Gothic metal? That's very misleading. It's some kind of industrial rock at best

I believe so because posting Therion as a genre that may does exist is misleading.

I really don't hear stoner riffing. I think Heavy Metal/Hard Rock or Doom Metal /Hard Rock would be more fitting.

Anyone?

Beneath the massacre is listed as brutal/grind/technical deathcore

this is bull.

the only core influence in BTM's music is breakdowns. that doesn not make them a deathcore band, and if anyone wishes to argue this point we should change dying fetus, suffocation, and even cannibal corpse on the same grounds. as for grind, i dont hear any grind in their music.

BTM'S old genre tag was perfectly suited. and should be changed back.

Brutal/Technical Death Metal

Ayaksvoksom: "Deathcore/Grindcore"

I listened to the tracks on their myspace and they don't sound anything like deathcore. "Death Metal/Grindcore" or just "Grindcore" would be more fitting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pirates of Doom: "Brutal Deathcore/Grindcore"

Not grindcore at all. Quite possibly the worst band I've ever heard.

Um, shouldn't At The Gates be considered Gothenburg also? On their band page it just says "Melodic Death Metal," but their peers Dark Tranquillity and In Flames both include the Gothenburg tag. Surely At The Gates were one of the forerunners of that specific genre.

I never understood why that term was ever used in the first place. May as well start labeling Suffo-esque Brutal Death as NYDM if you call stuff Gothenburg Metal.

Cerebral Incubation. They sound way too much like a deathcore band to be just labeled as Brutal Death Metal.

What's Argentinian Folklore supposed to mean?

Here's a song of theirs and it's not folk metal:

I think just heavy metal is enough.

The band Speeed should be listed as Groove Metal.

I have no samples, but their album is horrible groovy stompin' music with one Speed Metal song as collateral. Does not pass as Thrash.

Scott Hull
Ambient, Experimental, Soundscape
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540279545

Only band/musician listed on the archives listed as "soundscape" - this should probably deleted. Experimental ambient/atmospheric should be fine.

I'm pretty sure that follows the side-project guidelines.

Thist band:
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=47280

It isn't deathcore, and it isn't really folk either. I'd suggest just industrial metal, or industrial/death metal.

I know, but "soundscape" isn't a legitimate genre, as far as I know. I'm saying that "soundscape" could/should be deleted, not the band itself, to clarify.

Also,

Nachtterror
Black Metal
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540271927

is not simply black metal; they sound like a more melodic bm version of Cradle of Filth - with heavy keyboard use. Symphonic Melodic Gothic/Black Metal fits their style.

I think Nocte Obducta should have prog and goth added to the genre.
