I found another crossover band wrongly listed as deathcore:

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=103366
http://www.myspace.com/unfistrife

Should probably be listed as Death/Thrash/Crossover too.

Nachtreich:
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=90386
http://www.myspace.com/nachtreich
I think their current description "Neoclassical Folk/Ambient, Black Metal" is not really fitting. First of all, there's not really folk or ambient, just neoclassical music. Then, there's not black metal, there is metal in their music, but I'd better leave it to mods to decide which kind of metal it is...

Reverorum ib Malacht:
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=45017
http://www.myspace.com/malachtofficial
http://www.myspace.com/reverorumibmalacht
I don't know why they were submitted in 2005 as "Black Metal", because their first demo is ritual/dark ambient with some black metal influences, the second demo is pure ambient, and the samples from the third demo on myspace sound not much metal as well. So, I think even their presence on this site is questionable. But at least it should be Black Metal/Dark Ambient

yansen's genre should be changed to:
"Black Metal/Ambient, Folk"
(the natursang ep is only folk music)

Cannibal Corpse is listed as Brutal Death Metal in the archives when it clearly is just plain death metal.

I personally don't think it's necessary. Most thrash metal bands went through this kind of mid-life crisis, slowing down and flirting with different styles such as groove, punk and industrial. In most cases the band is still recognized as simply a thrash metal band.

Every album since and including "I Hear Black" contained a significant amount of groove metal in its sound, so I think it should be reflected somehow.

the genre should be changed. The latest demo is rather gothic/rock (maybe even pop)

Should be changed to Doom Metal, Black/Thrash Metal.

I submitted them as black/thrash based on this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtTLR9fsYpU

It's clearly black/thrash, but it's the band's later stuff. Unfortunately it's the only later song i can find.

But the early stuff was pretty much doom metal:

Yeah listen to Solitary Refinement. Especially the breakdown at 20seconds in. I don't see how there are not enough core elements present to be labeled as death metal.

Please rephrase that, I can't tell what you mean.
Anyway, I hear very little hardcore or grindcore in that band, and possibly no metalcore at all.

I have a track by that band (from the "Roll the Dice" album) on a compilation, and it sounds like Pantera/Machine Head/etc, certainly not "heavy metal". Dunno if the whole album's like that, though, maybe someone here has heard it.

Shallnotkill, listed as Sludge Metal/Post-Hardcore.
I have most of their releases, so reading this tag, I don't know where to start.

Basically, Shallnotkill plays a progressive mixture of fast hardcore, dissonant grind, with some bits that could be considered post-metal/atmospheric sludge/whatever. While it's rather unique and excellent music, it's hardly "Metal" (within the limits described by MA), and the current description is certainly erroneous. Some things just can't be reduced to a fancy tag.

Roll the Dice is a mix of their second album (groove thrash), heavy metal and stoner metal with references to C.O.C. and that kind.

E.F. Band is a Swedish band, so technically not NWOBHM. And I don't think those slashes should be replaced by spaces.

As you can see the majority of the bands in those searches have no slashes in them. I think the slashes should be taken out for the benefit of wholeness.

If Overkill and Anthrax have their genre defined as Thrash Metal / Groove Metal here, why do Testament have their genre as just Thrash Metal ? The same goes for Exodus.

I think it they should be listed as "Melodic Death Metal/Gothenburg". I know it's already in the additional notes, but I think the genre field should contain it. They are (if not the most) a highly influential band for that specific style. If other bands like In Flames, Arch Enemy, and Dark Tranquillity are tagged like that, then I think At The Gates deserves it even more than they do, and possibly more any other Gothenburg-style bands on here.

...And above all they are from Gothenburg, Sweden which makes them more Tr00 if not the Tr00est of all.:lol:

I'll ask the admins if we can get rid of Gothenburg as a genre tag.

For most of their career, Anthrax has hardly been a thrash band at this point. Overkill has also had a steady streak of groove metal releases for at least one decade.

But for bands such Testament, Kreator, Slayer and even Exodus it would feel excessive to me. I'd compare their groovy experiments to the mid-to-late 80's hair metal/hard rock flirtations by many classic acts such as Saxon, Priest, Savatage, Riot, Jag Panzer, Manowar, etc. Simply put, nobody remembers or cares about it anymore.
