About the NWOBHM reports - what is written in them comes from this user's profile:
https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Bonziepsycho
- but they are all from 2016, so it's not a current issue.

User SophieSophie - should be banned. Likely the return of this Durst: https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Vanny
The 2019-2020 releases that were added by Vanny (banned for spamming the report queue, with a focus on Mortiis Daemonium) seem a bit suspicious, and should probably be looked into: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Mo ... iscography

To Bard With Bright Eyes - sent a message asking them not to flood the report queue with useless information.

It seems, that they exist only in his imagination. I found literally no trace about them. Even his site (which he claims to be the official one) says, that he stopped recording as one-man band in 2017, and all of these demos have only Vanny listed as a band member.

His Facebook is dead since 2011, YT profile gives no valuable information about his music. There's a bit more details on Infinite Dimension site (the so called official one), but still there's a lot of discrepancies between it and M-A listings.

I guess, it's needless to say, that Discogs is not a good source of information.

I also didn't find anything on Ebay (including the Italian one). So, even if these 4 demos exist on CD, they are (weren't) distributed at all.

I accidentally put in incorrect song lengths for this album I noticed that didn't have any listed. I wasn't paying attention and added the song lengths from a different album from the same artist's discography:

Why?
The link was functioning as it was and lead to the album the vast majority is interested in. So why modify a working link just to make it lead to some official live bootleg instead?

He's been doing more of that type of edits, changing which album the link leads to, despite the previous one being functioning. Perhaps he believes that the latest release is preferable for links to lead to, or he has that preference personally. It's not done to an amount which suggests point-whoring though.

Some examples:

just for the record, yet one more case of https://www.metal-archives.com/users/gorilla1969 "blindly" copy pasting "info" from other sites, with complete ignorance or disregard for the rules/ethics of the site:

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/cmg92 actually embarked on a crusade to purge the archives of the word "actually"...

if that's the result of some kind of site ruling/resolution, kindly let me know as i actually use "actually" a lot...

That was one of the tasks from this thread, a word that could potentially need clean-up/looking into, as a way to tighten up sentence construction and grammar throughout the site. Cmg has been helping out with that list. There's a lot of easy work here, if it's of interest to anyone. Some might appear to be point-whoring at a glance when someone is working on them. If there are any that people can think of to add or remove from this list, can revise the first post.

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=134500

'Actually' can be fine, by the way - but sometimes is used out of place, and is a word that appears often when there's information being contradicted, etc.

i'm (not) sorry to be beating a dead horse, but if/whenever anyone has time, please do go through https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Gutterscream 's editing history, as he has made some absolutely cringey edits... i just came by an "Hynninen is a Finnish vegetarian whose interests fall primarily in electronic projects" opening line on Reverend Bizarre's frontman page. crikey.

Ongoing long-term clean-up there, unfortunately, Aloof. Some of the mass-problematic edits that he left us with are covered on the standardizing notes task list, and a lot of the band bios have been cleaned up over the last couple years, but there are probably a ton of artist trivia/bio notes yet to be found like that one. The problem is that so many thousands of edits in his history are just changing the same information to something the same or slightly worse, so 'surprise' edits like that, written with a standard far below what an encyclopedia should contain are hard to find in the sea of pointwhoring. Would be great if anyone feels like trying to find and get rid of more of those cringeworthy notes, though. A week or two ago I suggested making artist bio/trivia fields searchable, to more easily be able to find vandalism, spelling errors, unnecessary notes, etc. Haven't heard back yet about how possible it would be to include that in advanced search.

A couple of guesswork release line-ups that this user had entered in were noticed and corrected recently. There's a good chance that a lot of others exist in their history that haven't been discovered yet. It would be awesome if anyone has a chance to double check some of the other line-ups entered in by satanmex.

Someone recently modified an extreme right wing artist page, downplaying the ideological parts a lot.
https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... n/id/87677 "Transcendent_Logos Modified artist data"
This may truly be unnecessary information, but it just sets off a red "whitewashing" flag in my mind. Someone should probably investigate.

Actually while I'm here, another one:
https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... ilter/data "Klaagzang Modified band data"
Again, these details may legitimately not be needed, but I'd like to be certain if possible.

The 1st one is 100% whitewashing, and frankly a repulsive one. The information is so well-documented that it's on WIKIPEDIA for fuck's sake, and the rewording is pure Nazi dog-whistling horseshit ("he's not far-right, he just likes "radical traditionalism"...." fuck offffff lol). I've reverted it for now, will think on what to do with the user later... [Edit: after discussing with admins and checking the profile, he had a serious warning on his account for unacceptable behaviour, so it was an easy ban in the end. Bye!)

The 2nd one I'm a bit iffy on. The edit dates back from over a year ago, and removed an edit from a user with a questionable username (lol) so I'm not sure how accurate the information is. Though if it can be verified, I think it's encyclopedic enough to be included.

AbortedHitlerCock (lol) claims, "Formed by Michael Morthwork a member of the pseudo-satanic neo-nazi cult called “the Order of Nine Angels”"
According to the artist page, his name is in fact "Michael Morthwork", and:
https://thequietus.com/articles/25716-o ... und-occult
Apparently Michael didn't deny anything in the article, and only said: "It is inevitable that in the wake of such an article as yours, some self-declared guardian of morality will make it their business to have our Facebook page reported and shut down, we therefore deny them the satisfaction of having done so. A social media presence or indeed any related internet page is of no great importance to us in any case."

So I deleted a review by mistake and then resubmitted it with slight changes and ended up getting 5 points for it. The points should be removed.

Those should probably all have moderator warnings added to them not to remove. There's always some dumbass trying to cover up their or their friend's delusional racist rantings from a few years prior, once they have to get a job or something.
