User 8santiago666 added "Slayer" to Slayer's ANS field.

Edit: July 10, 2010 12:35 PM EST
Somebody already modified Slayer's page after him. I just took out the bs ANS myself.

Here is a list of the last updated bands. It's a good tool to catch vandals and pointwhores:

Just thought I'd post here pre-emptively. I added the British Decomposed's 'Ego Sum Lex Mundi' 7" as a separate release as it only comprises two songs from the four-song demo & both are clearly labelled as remixes on the back cover. Hope this doesn't count as a violation of Encyclopaedia rules.

Slayer_88 (though a veteran...) is adding useless links to hiw own label Rigorism Prods on A-B bands... quite useless, its another common distro selling CDS of hundreds of bands, not official merchandise links

It was probably him. There seems to be a correlation between this and his profile information.

Here's the other band he updated (see the alternate name/spelling field):

Yeah that's him alright. Looks to be a ban for him. Anyway, I came in here just to say that the Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian pages are going to show up a lot in the next five minutes since I will be updating the full-length pages (organizing some stuff).

User RedStream is again adding links to his shop in the official merchandise-section, example: http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=29006

Not that I couldn't delete them - it's simply a distro trying to sell some stuff. Please take a look.

Still editing the London page a ton, so don't fret. Sick of how unorganized that page was - ditto for the Tygers of Pan Tang page.

If any of you notice me adding lyrics to the Gargoyle page one song at a time, just be aware Im not point whoring or anything, it just takes a long ass time for me to find all the kanji in the lyrics for one song so I add them as soon as I'm finished.

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540307633 I don't know how to fix it but i think that crabbypattys uses added that extra info to the additional notes section. Also not sure if that's are real full length or not.

Both albums were added by PozerdozeR. The second one at first looks like a re-release of the EP with two bonus tracks, but the song lengths from from the first three songs are slightly different for each release. Maybe it's a new mix? I'll e-mail the band.

Here is a new tool while we still don't have audit trails. Enter a user's name, click go, and it will show you a list of bands that person is last modifier on, along with the current and previous band data with differences highlighted. It can only check the data from the band form, so if the user modified albums or links, an entry will appear but there will be no differences in data. It has 's limitations, but it's better than nothing.

This is a great feature. Thanks.

http://www.metal-archives.com/last-edit ... oscuros666
http://www.metal-archives.com/lists/bands.php

They've been adding invalid alternative name/spellings (mainly adding one letter to the original band name or entering the same band name but without the country abbreviation) and have also added general lyrical themes (ie Dark Fantasy, Angst, Hate, etc.).

Here's a specific entry for now (see the ANS field): http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=379

I've sent her a message.

Edit: Her e-mail isn't working. Banned. Also, adding "Manillaa Road" as an alternate name is pretty much vandalism.

Edit2: She contacted me and was unbanned.

Someone added these incorrect lyrics to the following releases for Dimmu Borgir:

http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=281693
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=281836

I doubt it was Kreature, because those lyrics were there even before today (as far back as August 29th. See the cache page).

Crap, I'm sorry. After working for a little while on trying to clean up the mess I thought he was making, I see now that most of the time he was adding track lengths he found on Myspace streaming players, not randomly, though I have come across a few that were wrong. That was my mistake because I rarely see individual track lengths added.

^You're not supposed to do that anyway, though. From the rules:

Quote:
However, when you add an album, make sure you got all the necessary information and all the tracks, or else just don’t bother. (Song lengths are optional – but try to be consistent, if you want to include the song length, do so for every song on the album, for example.)

The statement of "consistency" here comes across as more of a request than an absolute rule, so I suppose it is more of a judgment call (for the mods). Nevertheless, you had the right notion. :)

Yeah, that's true. What he did is still considered point whore behavior. Getting one point for adding a single or a few track lengths is rather much, especially when it's done as many times as he did. Is a ban necessary, though? He might be an otherwise worthwhile contributor after a warning (verbally and/or through removal of points). Originally thinking that he was spamming to get points is certainly grounds for a ban, but I think his intentions were to help the site. I think adding track lengths from Myspace players should be discouraged, but not necessarily worth a ban. Perhaps a specific mention of this should be added to the guidelines?

EDIT: On the other hand, adding track lengths isn't all that useful, and his primary purpose of doing that was probably to acquire points to become a veteran. I still think I needed to mention that the lengths weren't random/spam.

user "Kain_MacLachlan" is adding a lot of useless links for Brazilian bands

ex: Unearthly (Bra), Sacrificed, Rhestus, The Ordher and others

Links to Youtube, Orkut, Twitter

are those useful? no!

And for Orkut you need to register anyway

If the band has an official Twitter and Youtube page, then there is no problem. I'll just tell him to stop adding the Orkut links, since you need to be registered to see the content.

I don't know if this is the right thread and I also don't know anything about the band Backlash, but I'm pretty sure they don't have a release called "We. the guys who suck dick."

She's also been adding generic lyrical themes to bands ("Dark Fantasy" seems to be a favorite).

I'm pretty sure the formed dates she has been filling in are fake as well. They all seem to be 1 year before their first release. Look at this one (Read the additional notes and look at the formed date):

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=65501

Formed in 2001 but released a CD in 1997..

Good catch, Undead. I knew the ones he/she was filling in were probably of no validity, but I never caught that one specifically (among others, I'm sure).
