PaganFolker616

He's adding random line-ups for the bands he adds

https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... B_1/901497

He added all members as listed on the main page but he did not add complete information, omitting "backing vocals" for example

Here is the correct information for the album if someone wants to correct

https://aeonsofvoid.bandcamp.com/releases

Drums & percussion programming by Xavi "Ouija B." Pons
Vocals & Backing Vocals : Haritz Lindow
Bass Guitar on tracks 1,3 & 5 : Ouija B.
Bass Guitar on tracks 2 & 4 : Bruno D. Gregori
Rythm,Lead & backing Guitars : Ouija B.
Additional Backing Guitars on tracks 4 & 5 : Alex Huma

Ehh... I don't even unserstand what are you trying to say. How I'm adding random line-ups to bands? Most of my submissions are from Bandcamp and I always add the line-ups stated by the bands themselves in their Bandcamp and Facebook pages. If there's no information then I don't add nothing, obviously.

If you are referring to album line-ups and not to the main one, I do the same, if an album doesn't specify the line-up then I don't add nothing.

Quote:

When I added that band I put the information available, isn't not my fault if the band updated their page. Also I'm a human, if there was information that I missed surely was accidentally, always I try to be very meticulous with the info I add in bands pages.

The only time I add a wrong line-up was like a year ago in a Mexican band (for being distracted, not fot vandalism) and a mod warned me, but since then I take much careful.

If you a have a real evidence of a "random line-up" added by me then please provide it instead of say things with nonsense.

I think my initial post may have been overlooked due to the page turn, so I hope it's alright I'm giving it a bump. His mod history has well over 500 edits since last week, the majority of which seem to be 1b1 as well.

Looks a bit suspicious:

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/NolanBell7805

F.e. for Byleth, he added "Suffering, death" while the lyrics aren't provided:

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Byleth/26572

He uses wrong capitalization as well.

A visitor/missionary. Dunno how often this happens, but regardless of the message, why can't we delete those reports instead of closing them? They just clutter the report history making it harder to revisit old, useful reports when we have to.

I think it's not the typical vandalism, but rather guessing the line-ups. I've checked 5+ releases on Bandcamp, and none of them have information about line-up. IMO user just assumed, that band had always the same line-up on every release. Perhaps he should be asked, where did he get the line-ups from.

I posted it under this report. Are you able as a mod to ask him about the sources?

Yes, just now have. The report was put in by someone that does a lot of work on the site (under visitor), so that's why I posted it here - figured probably a legitimate claim.

Not point whoring at all. I’ve mostly been trying to update and add artists from my region to help document our history in the KY/TN/OH/IN area and you can see that in my history. Sometimes I find new artists elsewhere and submit them as well. This week I started going through the new additions to help clean up. This particular band supposedly has tons of releases but almost no effort put into them when added to the site. Joseph is listed as playing “everything” and there’s a former drummer that somebody added to only a handful of specific releases. Naturally a person listed as the only band member who plays everything has to be who’s behind the music. There are uncountable instances on the site with the exact same listings where’s there’s only one band member responsible for the music but no bandcamp or booklet documentation proving it so you naturally know it’s safe to say the one active member is the person to credit on the albums. If I’m wrong in making a common sense assumption and addition then I apologize and will just leave these easily fixable entries blank in the future. I’d love to know why somebody is listed as “everything” if they’re not doing everything and why so little effort was put into these recent additions by whoever submitted them.

@snow wolf: Well, sometimes one-man bands also have session members playing particular instruments, so it's not always 100% certainty, that everything was done by the only existing band member. So, when adding line-ups, it's much safer to follow release booklets, official information from Bandcamp, Facebook, official websites etc.

Anyway, your explanations given to the report mentioned couple posts above were accepted, and the subject is closed.

Sometimes, when I'm not certain about updates I'm planning to make, I contact someone from moderators and ask, if my activity is not breaching the rules. They usually answer fast, and this way you are ensured, that your updates won't make any confusion.

Have a nice w/e, bro!

For all of the these Autopsy bandcamp versions he's adding he's seem to putting the release date as whatever happens to be the date that he's adding them. Same with a few other random bandcamp versions he's adding of obscure bands.

I'm posting this out of curiosity, not out of accusing anything, since the user is a well respected member (Gutterscream). I have seen some of the edits that I made changed, particularly removing 'Lyrics' credits, and changing 'Cover art' to 'Artwork' when the CD booklet states 'Cover art' as the credit. I noticed this on a lot of the Abominant albums, example: https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... rrors/3313 I own all of their CDs and that's where I added the information from.

I'm just curious if there's something I'm missing here, or are there some sort of special exceptions? Thanks!

Adding stuff one by one on albums (Version description, then Recording info, then additional notes, then Identifiers, etc).

Very recent examples:

Usualy I don't write here but I had it enough of people adding line ups on albums just to gain some points.
The best example is the user VladimirCokorilo
https://www.metal-archives.com/users/VladimirCokorilo

I saw him adding some random line ups and I investigated little about his last added line up:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/I ... ion/774424

So what the guy did. He saw that the release date is 2019 and Storm joined the band in 2019 so he assumed that Storm played on the EP. But you can clearly see on the following link that his added line up is false:
https://www.google.com/search?q=under+t ... lj0gwUWeOM

So I assume that a lot of his album line ups are based on his logic not facts.

Also, he have some projects and he is present in the database as an artist/musician. His profile is ridicilous and full with unnecessary facts:
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ilo/589228

Send him a warning.

Complaint about a review. I like this band, but I understand there are people that might not. However is trolling like this really necessary? "eventful only in a sense that it blows massive dingus" "Let me be honest here, I was looking for something to pick on and fire at" "so in an attempt to keep myself somewhat entertained and maintain some equilibrium I needed to find a conduit for release" The person admits to trolling in this review!! I love this site, I've been using it for a couple of years, and finally decided to get an account. I have no problem with reading a review, where somebody disgrees with my opnion. But running into garbage like this, is really starting to get annoying. Whatever your decision is, I'll respect it. https://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/ ... ery/407515

Each review must be read and accepted by mod before publishing. So, it's definitely not a pointwhoring or vandalising the site = it's not the appropriate thread for such a complaint, IMO.

Hey,

Can someone remind BitchHunter to not submit bands that they didn't ask to white list? I was given approval to submit Snowblind from Colombia but they went ahead before I realized I allowed to.

I don't care about points or anything, especially since it's on the site already. Just remind them.

Actually, it was his comment that got them whitelisted. From what I can see PaganiusI dismissed your appeal and after BitchHunter told him about the new album he whitelisted them. So I wouldn't really say that he didn't ask to whitelist them. Maybe it would be a good idea for PaganiusI to shed some light on this. Either way, it's all here. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=130530

That was my fault, I checked that bandcamp link and checked the blacklist and was like "yeah, sounds about right."
Then he said there's a new album out and I checked it more thoroughly and was actually surprised by how metal that thing was...
I even checked back with Az before whitelisting to make sure I wasn't going crazy there...
So..
uhm..
:oh shit:

But KingSpooky said he rejected a previous submission so that I could go ahead. I mean, understand that BitchHunter technically was the one who asked, but I thought that the OP is usually the one to do it.

TBH, I should've been clear that there was a new album, which I realized I didn't even specify.

User "swarmlord" should be notified about the correct way to submit/update releases:
https://www.metal-archives.com/users/swarmlord

- Adds "Digital bandcamp" on the version description instead of "Bandcamp".
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Khors/Cold/920934
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/N ... ife/920318

- Adds bandcamp, Bigcartel, stores links on additional notes section.
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/D ... ows/901591
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/W ... ore/851846

- On release date, he puts the release date mentioned on the bandcamp instead of looking up when it was actually published. (Example: bandcamp version released on 1996).
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/N ... ife/920318
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/N ... yes/708477
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/N ... oma/708476

- Adds lineups on recording information:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/D ... ows/901591

I've been fixing some of the user's mistakes.
