Umm, maybe I'm missing something, cause I sure can't figure it out... but, I follow Blut aus Nord, and this dude seems like he's changing all of the album covers? Maybe for points? I don't know? Maybe a Mod should look into this, please... as he's changing an awful lot of 'em.

22 album cover changes so far!

4 more since the above statement, this dude just keeps on going...

He's changing them to higher quality images. Those are valid updates. There's no problem on him doing so.

His website provides information about past and upcoming shows of the bands he links. No stupid copy-paste from M-A, but still worthless, in my opinion.

We deemed those links to be valid additions to band pages.

Those unlisted bands are obviously not real, what does RazorDick have to say about that?

I hope I don't get shit for this post because it's about a user with mod status, but this has been bothering me for quite some time now and need to get it off my chest, so I hope you other mods don't mind this.

The user/mod Gutterscream is quite a prolific updater of band pages, but my issue with him are the (to an extent) useless and arbitrary changes he makes to bands' additional notes:

(Beneath each issue, I will provide an example of it. If you need more evidence, you can refer to his own modification history or that of various band pages he's updated and were then corrected by me. FYI, since I deleted my previous account, my username shows as ~Guest 62838, if you wish to know which ones I did.)

1. He rewrites reasonably written parts and replaces words and entire sentences with ones that essentially mean/express the same thing.

https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... d/id/16071 (refer to the update made on 2020-10-11 at 17:07:19)

2. He has a tendency to replace the word "and" with ampersands.

https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... and/id/152 (refer to the update made on 2020-12-27 at 06:53:01)

(3 and 4 are me getting pedantic, but I wanted to point them out, anyway.)

3. He will remove the final comma in sentences containing lists (e.g. Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth will instead be presented as Metallica, Slayer & Megadeth).

4. He will use two spaces before beginning a new sentence as opposed to one. From what I've seen, the tendency to use only one space is the norm on this site.

(Refer to examples of points 1 and 2 for evidence of 4 and 5.)

5. On artist pages, he will add completely useless information like where the musician is from and what instrument they play.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z8ARzG ... sp=sharing (Is it really necessary to point out that's he's American and a drummer?)

If I didn't know better, I would say this was point-whoring. It seems to me that he changes stuff in accordance with his personal writing quirks instead of conforming to the site's generic, semi-standardized style that I myself try my best to adhere to (based on the countless band pages I've observed throughout the years). I remember reporting him once before for another one of his quirks and he seemed to stop doing that (he was capitalizing the A in "Appearances" in "Compilation appearances"). However, outside of what I've mentioned, his other updates are completely fine and seems to do a lot of "other versions" updates, which are a great help.

I take particular issue with the things I mentioned above because he changed a lot of stuff that I initially wrote or improved upon (primarily under my previous username Viral) and made these pointless changes to them. It doesn't feel very good to see your hard work being erased like that. If the changes were an improvement, I wouldn't complain or be reversing them when I catch them, but they're not.

Again, I apologize if I'm coming across as pedantic/autistic with these complaints, but I just want to see this resolved without me having to tail this guy whenever he makes these kinds of updates.

Typos on spanish and english song tittles.
Some examples:
https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /id/533332
https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /id/396574
https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /id/326888

Registering cover songs on an incorrect way:
Example: "The Black Widow (Cover: Alice Cooper - The Black Widow)" instead of "The Black Widow (Alice Cooper cover)"

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/aloysk has added some odd stuff to this site: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Mantak/20679

* Covers do not match release titles
* Full length releases with only one short track
etc.

I'd personally blame this on the band since they are very unprofessional when it comes to individual artworks for releases as we can see from their Bandcamp.
https://mantak.bandcamp.com/
Although this is not an uncommon issue. Ever since digital singles have been allowed I've seen many cases of singles from Spotify and Bandcamp being added without having any individual artwork but having the same artwork as the album and the name of the album written on it instead of the name of the single. I'm not sure if those are considered valid releases, but I think they shouldn't be considered valid and any such instance should be removed from the website. It would be nice to have some mod input regarding this.

As for the full-length thing, he probably forgot to change the type from album to single since the full-length option is an automatic one when you go to add the release. But it's fixed now.

Be as it may, but the cover artwork still does not represent the album title. It all appears rather random in these additions.

Yes, it does. That's why there should be some discussion about the validity of those releases.
And yeah now he is putting random artworks on the singles which have none. I know this because they were available as downloads on Nocturne magazine and they had no artwork at all.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/blackdoom

I thought that having someone remove two releases that weren't released under the band name and member section clean-up could be enough but after closer inspection of the band's page it won't cut it. I mean, look at the mess he made. https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Riwayat/92869
From wrongdoings, we have adding releases that weren't released under the band name with fake artworks to top it all off, Facebook links of his random enterprises being added as official merchandise and label links, adding Wikipedia page twice as official, adding current line-up as a live line-up, putting members that didn't even play under the band name, putting his Pinterest link as tabulatures... I could go on for hours.
And here's also some proof of what I'm saying is true.
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/R ... ors/914748
https://myspace.com/makamofficial/mixes ... /104835893 (picture from 2005 with different members)
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/R ... dox/923337 (clearly a fake artwork, even looks like it was stolen from Paradise Lost's Symbol of Life)

I mean this guy should really be warned.

Goddamit aloysk. Wait a minute, he actually added a release with all caps locked... unbelievable. I will correct as much as I can find but he should really be warned about this.

Update: I think I corrected them all now. At least the English titles, I think. I don't know how capitalization and spelling work for the other languages since I'm not familiar with some of them. Also, he added many random covers for releases that have none of which I removed some of them. He also added some releases of questionable validity which should be looked into.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/NigelHardRocker added a bunch of links to (his own?) YouTubeplaylists, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... Gpju8bdLFW. He even added some under Official merchandise... Some have already been deleted, a number of them remain. Any volunteers?

^I think the site owners must've had it with all the collages and the pedantic reports about changing band photos. I think this solution is perfect because what matters is the logo. As long as the logo is there, everybody can recognize the band instantly. I think they've been patient enough so far, so this doesn't come as a big surprise to me.

Hello.
The user Odium has recently added artists on two bands I've submitted (Pathogen and AdHoc), who weren't actually musicians in the said bands. Althought the individuals in question were identified on some of those band's posts in their facebook pages, I found out that they were, in fact, professional photographers on their live shows or just some friends that happened to appear on those posts. It also makes somewhat harder and confusing for anyone who wants to update the band's lineups, because it requires extra time to search for people who aren't associated with those bands.
I've eventually flagged said artists for deletion.

Thanks.
