Sorry, the message may've been ambiguous. The point was to inform you that "unsplitting role data" is actually quite pointless. You literally changed nothing in the data itself, just compacted the data into one field instead of three. Doesn't correct anything, doesn't fix anything, doesn't improve anything, doesn't even visibly change anything outside the edit page.

There generally are only two reasons to do that, one is intentional pointwhoring and the other is some sort of compulsion, but neither is a good reason. (edit: oh, and generally people are properly warned only after there seems to be some sort of tendency to whore points, one case doesn't mean much)

And well, generally, with band lineups, combining roles based on year ranges when applicable makes the lineup clearer, so we do that. But with album lineups, isn't it evident from the UI itself that you're supposed to put one instrument per box? Of course, everyone doesn't do this, because of various reasons, but there's no need reason to go around splitting or unsplitting them. It's wasted effort. And if you don't pay attention, you may even end up malforming the data, for example if there are like 25 instruments and you try to cram them into one field and the character limit of the field cuts off part of the information. It's happened, and accidentally vandalizing the site because of something that isn't even cosmetic is just silly.

Does a mixture of adding lyrics one by one, in one save, or in 2 or 3 saves.

I've gone through his update history and undid everything knights can. All albums/album versions he added still need to be nuked.

Yeah, that guy refuses to respect the way the site operates. He loves flagging reports based on hazy personal recollections.

He also flagged a report on Omen's page about their genre without samples despite me (and possibly TheUnhinged) telling him a few times he needs to provide them. He is a very annoying guy.

I sent him a formal warning to stop flagging reports without the required info. Let me know if he keeps it up beyond this point.

User Pag seems to have removed line-up data, only to re-add it for the band Faithless Minutes Devoured.

Pag helps out on the reports queue a lot so I doubt this is whoring. Possibly an honest mistake or an undoing of a fishy report.

Adding "none" to the add. notes on releases. Cleaned up his edits.

He has been warned before as well. Time for a mass point removal.

It seems like he still has yet to learn that they should be added in one save, as he adds them in either 2 or 3 saves now.

Really need some advice regarding adding a digital album. For example; adding an invalid digital split album which I've reported to remove it.

so I guess this guy was bored yesterday, and he created a m-a user profile https://www.metal-archives.com/users/SoundGuyMoses

I'd just seen the report. I requested his attention and directed him to the site rules of entering data in 3rd person... but I haven't made any edits, and the report is still open. How did he even create the label? It's not even linked to anything.

thank you, tua :) nice to see you again, HS...

well meaning newb, but newb nonetheless: https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Indigo%20Phoenix
added a tribute album on band discog (deleted), adds nonsense bios/trivia/links, etc. not dangerous, but posting this here so smn can keep an eye on him if I forget...

edit: okay, please stop him as he's doing all sorts of stuff, like adding remasters like standalone releases, adding "Mastering Vinyl" credits on CD versions, etc. having a hard time to keep up :/

I dropped him a note to read the rules and explained the biggest items to him. (the adding of new versions, redundant notes, remaster credits on wrong versions). I didn't revert everything though - so please feel free to do that. Hopefully now that I've said something, you'll be able to keep up. :)

thank you :) unless I'm missing sthg, it's just the power crue and warlord remasters (to be moved and deleted, respectively) that I can't do but have filed reports, and changing all the misc credits to the proper ones... which I did, except for this one:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/0 ... ays/520433 where I don't know if/how to differentiate between "mastering" and "digital master".

Reporting again, a user with a history of terrible bios: https://www.metal-archives.com/users/sumatra

I know he has had at least one message before. 9 days ago, he wrote ''Re-active in 2017'', and from there you'll also see his band motification from June 19th, which wasn't especially pleasant to read. Luckily it appears he doesn't do this often anymore, but the potential dangers from his veteran status are a bit worrying.

Worth keeping an eye on, but minor grammatical issues are outweighed by him updating correct info on his own band pages. Authentic Engrish would likely increase the credibility of the Blasphemous Sexfago page...

It's been a while since I've written in here. Just wanted to give any Mod who reads this, that I hope it can be seen that I am not trying to point whore. I don't know if it's my computer, or what is going on, but the past couple of days I have either made corrections to errors, or adding a link, sometimes it is seeming to double up on me. What I mean is for example just now, entered in an official label to the band Ande (in the "Labels" link section, due to the cassette version being released), and instead of it just accepting the link once after I add it, it somehow decides to add it twice. So, obviously now I had to delete one of them.

And, then yesterday I believe it was, made a correction to 2 (times) on songs for the band/S/T album Auðn. I only edited 2 tracks, yet on my Modification History, it shows I have edited all 7 songs; which I have not. But, I am occasionally having a problem of double posting when adding official links. It is not happening often, but often enough I feel I need to let ya'll know that I am honestly not point whoring. If whoever reads this feels I should be deducted points, I understand, but I just wanted it to be known that I am truly not doing this on purpose.

Thanks to whoever reads this. :)

Oh god, this guy has veteran now. That is not good at all...

EDIT: He has another account, it seems: https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Asmodeus777

EDIT #2: I'm going through his updates, but there is just too damn many. Is it possible for HB to just mass undo them like he did for the images that tony29 guy added?

I ran a query to fix everything that was "X", "NA", "N/A" and "none" in album notes, version descriptions, catalog numbers, recording info, and identifiers. I think Diamhea and you fixed most of the other stuff...?

All of that so he could reach veteran so he could... whitewash his own band page? :nono: How absolutely pathetic.

Based on the modification history + Google cached pages, I restored the band/album pages to what it was (some of the artists were deleted since they were removed from the lineup and ended up as orphans, I had to re-create them). He changed some release/activity dates to earlier ones too, not sure why, but I don't trust it (maybe to whitewash/pretend it was longer ago than the reality?) so I just reverted everything.

What a fucking loser, lol.

He seems to be guessing RPM based on size. Just because it's a 7" doesn't autmatically mean it plays at 45.

With these 2 examples you can see the RPM listed on the label in the discogs links.

I tried adding an upcoming Mastodon EP to their discography, but somebody beat me by a few minutes so now it's listed twice. I wasn't trying to point-whore.

that's like 5 years old, but leaving it here as a precedent, as the user is still active, in case it turns out it wasn't a one-off...

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Nagaarum ' s lineup for https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... ide/340027 was most likely guesswork... I have the CD now and will fix it.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Gurudeath messed up the lineup for https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /id/653644 . mixed up two different artists, just because their first name is Attila, etc. probably not pointwhoring, but maybe his attention to detail lacks somewhat. the end result for the site is the same :/
