No, it's not limited to mods and it appears to be correct for this case, since the members don't seem to agree on the status of the band. I also said to avoid changing the status to disputed (not that it's 100% not allowed) since most people don't understand what it is used for.

That being said, please stop with your low-key personal attacks on Guard.

Alright. I just asked the question, because of the answer you gave me the other time, nothing personal against him :)

I just deleted the report. Not worth spending an hour or 2 to delete all his comments. Feel free to flag it again, aloof.

I've asked him to comment here with his sources.

Also, the edit he made to Grim Reaper's bio is blatantly incorrect, go ahead and revert it if you wish.

@Nightswad

Replying to a message you just sent me, I only made this account for the purpose of replying to this message. My account was banned from the forums some 18 years ago.

>You recently made changes to multiple well-known bands's years of activity (including Rush, Twisted Sister, etc.). What are your sources for these changes? And why did you completely change the meaning of a sentence in Grim Reaper's bio to something completely inaccurate (even one glance at Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper's page would show you that they released an album in 2019). Please comment here with an explanation for your recent edits.

For Rush, I changed the formed date to coincide with when the band formed under the name initially. Sourced from here: http://www.2112.net/rushablekingdom/history/ Under genesis. Link is also sourced on wikipedia.

For Twisted Sister, I changed it to 1973 from 1972 to reflect when the band formed under that name, as they were active as Silver Star until 1973. From other pages I see that the "formed" date reflects when the band was active under their MA name, rather than active under any name.

For Grim Reaper, I was only making a grammatical change to the sentence because it was jumbled and messy. I don't know if you can see the previous version I should've checked whether the info was still accurate and changed accordingly, sorry about that.

Please let me know if these edits make sense. Thank you.

Thank you for your prompt response, Reaper. I'm not well-versed in the particulars of either band's history, but the reasoning for the changes checks out to me. As for Grim Reaper, cleaning up messy syntax in bios is always welcome, but just be sure you're not also radically changing the meaning of the text in the process (unless it's out of date and such changes are necessary, of course).

Sounds good. I'll be more careful in the future. I edited out the out of date sentence from Grim Reaper. Cheers.

no action needed, just for future reference, https://www.metal-archives.com/users/ch ... aver%20666 added a bunch of "blank" label pages which I deleted. lots of artists, too, but they seem to be linked only to draft bands...

The labels were probably linked to draft bands aswell?
There's nothing wrong with having those, since they are linked to things he might be preparing to add to MA.
We also have a feature (for mods only) that purges empty labels and artists automatically but leaves those on the site that are linked to draft bands.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Thrashead89gd has been doing a lot of work recently, adding useful info (assuming it's correct, which I can't vouch for), but all his edits are very sloppy. he makes grammatical errors, typos, etc. thankfully TvvrAskesis has fixed some, KingSpooky has pointed out others, I asked for his input in two reports...

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/typhon666 has recently been adding a lot of redundant information to the additional notes-field. I've send him a notice and done some cleaning up, but I've grown tired of doing so.

https://www.metal-archives.com/users/jomanst - Another one who dumps a lot of line-up info the additional notes field. And he adds stuff like 'CD' into the version description field. I've send him a notice.

Someone should send a warning for this user https://www.metal-archives.com/users/PaganFolker616 he modified an artist added to a demo as Jonathan Grimm-Wolf (alias J.G.W.) into two separate artists: Jonathan Grimm and Wolf. He just picked up another artist from J.G.W. older band using the alias WolfMan and assumed he is Wolf. Also, he is adding lyrics in all caps. He is also adding Bandcamp as a version description to releases...

Hello. Well, first of all sorry for my English =') but I think this is a misunderstanding, GraveWish.

Yeah, when I was updating the band Winter Elf I also added Jonathan Grimm and Wolf as separate artists to the line-up of the demo Legend because, as you said, I confused the information. Jonathan Grimm had a band with an artist called WolfMan, so when I read "Jonathan Grimm-Wolf" in the information of that demo I thought that it was referring to that artist. After a minutes I noticed that wasn't so and when I was going to fix up my mistake I noticed that you had already done it. It wasn't a whore point, I only confused the information for the similar name, but as I said, when I realized I was going to fix it up.

Now, about Bandcamp, yes, I've been adding "Bandcamp" to Bandcamp releases, what's the problem there? I'm not adding "Bandcamp" to whichever digital album, I do it only in albums that are actually from Bandcamp. If I'm doing something wrong please someone tell me, but I don't think this is the case.

And no, I'm not adding lyrics in all caps. If you're referring to lyrical themes fields I never do, to the contrary, most of my edits in the Archives are about fixing up typos (mainly from Hispanic bands), but if you're referring to lyrics from songs, well, I remember adding some with all in caps, yeah, but those were copypastes directly from official sources of the bands. Hm... =/ Besides you're exaggerating, I don't remember to have done that often, it was more or less with two or three bands and nothing more, and I repeat, were copypastes from the official sources.

This looks like it was uploaded by a supposed member of the band but it just looks incredibly suspect to my eye.

What is the reason to change capitalization in Spanish word "infierno"?

https://www.metal-archives.com/history/ ... /id/869986

This word shouldn't be capitalized.

"Infierno" depends of the context. If you mean the Biblical place then yes, it is capitalized. On the otherhand, "infierno" need not be capitalized if it's not meant to be religious concept, however.

The user named Coucouille seems to have a lot of time to lost, he vandalized the whole page of NecroHorizoN, by adding a lot of fake randomly named albums and modifying the songs length of the true albums, please can you correct this? Thanks

Someone needs to clean ARKEOLOGO's stuff up. He's been adding what he thinks of as Russian pirate labels for some time now--sometimes as "Label - BOOTLEG", sometimes as "Label (Bootleg)", and other times as "Label (fake)". Sometimes he can't decide so he adds two entries per label, because... why not.
- https://www.metal-archives.com/labels/U ... TLEG/53268
- https://www.metal-archives.com/labels/U ... g%29/53422
This is just an example. I think those releases shouldn't be listed at all, but I digress.
Tidying up and schooling needed.

I think, he does it to "legitimate" all his collection entries. Anyway, still crappy and useless activity.

He seems to have sort of figured out that he shouldn't add duplicates of already existing pirate labels, but I sent him a notice about that anyway as well as a host of other issues I noticed. Feel free to help with the cleanup.

You can still help by reporting the dupe labels and invalid releases for merging/deletion or fixing label names to bring them in line with the proper format (or if your rank is too low for that, just report them to be fixed).

Dude seems to be hardworking, but could be schooled to do a better job maybe. He adds lyrics 1b1 plus a few other sloppy updates. Could be warned to mind proper capitalization too, especially regarding cover tracks (Iron Maiden cover, instead of Iron Maiden Cover).

Yeah, I know someone is gonna bring my name up here because of that. Before going an update spree on it, I already asked a mods on Discord and one mod said it's fine. Actually, "Anti-religion" is the correct term because "religion" isn't a proper noun, so it must be lowercase.

Track lengths one by one.... the rest of his updates look overall legit.

But if you go to page 4 of his history he was doing it the correct way back then--all in one fell swoop of an update.

Even worse; he's changing city names like Belgrade to Београд... (He also does this for Serbian artists, this may be okay though?)
