Jinjer from Ukraine is a lot more Progressive Death Metal than anything else. They bring a lot to the table and should definitely be part of Encyclopaedia Metallum!

They were blacklisted for being more -core than metal, and based on what little I’ve heard, that seems entirely accurate. If they have a specific album you’d like us to check out that you think may qualify, post it here.

@raspberrysoda: We officially re-evaluated that Heaven in Her Arms album and agree that it’s predominantly hardcore/screamo.

Secondly, I have already posted it in the band research thread to very sad results, only to learn from a user, who has kindly tried to help me, that the only member of the band with a presence on the internet does not react on Questions. I could wait about ten years in that manner.. probably to same results. Please see: http://www.fwoshm.com/index/S/1089-spel ... spellbound

In fact, I was quite active in that thread the last four days, two bands were submitted based on the info I have provided and I have found relevant info for about 15 bands. I only mention it because to show, that I can recognize an relevant source, when it comes to it and and that do not expect to plead for something and give nnothing, no work in return.

Please, can somebody react on this, especially on the part about the validity of the given source?

Alright, I went over this and after briefly conferring with derigin and TSIR, I think this is fine to approve. In the interest of fairness, though, I'll restore a slightly earlier draft made by another user (you'll get points as well, though, if you care :P ). EDIT: Done.

I see that the Russian project "A Light In The Dark" is blacklisted. I realize it's probably borderline, but I just wanted to make sure this was not an outdated blacklist based on earlier material, and wether the band might be re-evaluated. In my opinion, the recent releases from this band have a similar level of "metalness" as blackgaze bands such as Germ.

For example, see the songs below :

https://alightinthedark.bandcamp.com/track/i-tried-to-forget
https://alightinthedark.bandcamp.com/track/alone-2

This is still rooted in hardcore rather than metal.

Blacklisted in 2016 for being non-metal grindcore. This 2018 album sounds much more metal-influenced, whitelisted.

Predominantly -core.

RELEVANT: Something being "sonically massive" and "brutal" doesn't automatically make stuff Metal.

It should also be noted that the word order of a band's name plays absolutely no part in the assessment of a band's metalness, though. I can't imagine the mods ever taking into account any such ''probability factors'' upon review. The music is what counts.

Hi. I'm writing in regards of the band Malist being blacklisted, with the reason of not having their full-length album out yet.

Here's an extract from Rules & Regulations: "Upcoming albums, unless all the information (exact release date, tracklisting and cover art) is 100% confirmed by one official source, such as the band or the label"

I have provided 2 official sources - NSP and Malist official bandcamp pages which have the same release date, cover art, tracklisting, physical release info and everything. But it doesn't seem to help (gets reported with "Should be removed" for not having the album out, too).

Am I leaving something out, because I can't understand why the said rule does not apply in that case.

Upcoming albums are ONLY allowed for bands that are already present on the site. For a band to be added to the database, they must've already released a valid album.
For reference: https://www.metal-archives.com/content/ ... alid_album

BTW your band isn't blacklisted since it wasn't even submitted to the queue yet...

It was submitted, he just returned it to his drafts, which causes it to not appear in the deletion history.

The blacklisting is from 2013. The releases you've linked are indeed borderline. I think the EP you linked would probably be acceptable by itself, but because this is a band with a more established discography of borderline material, I think we should hold off on whitelisting them until they make a couple other releases that are consistently metal like that with minimal post-rock/chill-hop influences.

Hi pals, how you doing?
I found various threads talking about Commit Suicide (Canada), the last one was from Sun Apr 24, 2016
They released 2 more long songs on August 30, 2016
https://commitsuicide.bandcamp.com/album/hiraeth
May be possible a revaluation? First song > 03:30 the Black Metal starts. > 07:40 Fast bridge.
(Second song is more atmospheric than the first one, I love it), and talking according to the rules I think it maaaaay fit....

Still too much shoegaze?

Thank you as always.

EDIT: May I ask why Totenmesse is not on the queue anymore? Is not submitted on the page either. I reported errors yesterday from the submission of the band but.. What happened? (The submission to the queue was not mine)
Cheers

I understand and fully agree why Black Tongue were blacklisted before (their previous releases are totally more -core than anything at all), but waking up today I heard the new album that they released today called Nadir, and I really do believe that this is a worthy contender of consideration for them to have a place on Metal Archives. They sound like a funeral doom metal band now, almost in the same vein as Worship (just with a djenty guitar tone). There's even some songs (like track 2) on the album that sound even kind of black metal-esque

My hopes aren't totally up for this, but it's still worth checking out. Is this okay to get them whitelisted?

Greetings, I do not understand very well why the band CULT OF SELF DESTRUCTION was put on a blacklist. The discography decided to advance the release of the album several times to the initial date. that's why we upload everything to metal archives at that precise moment. On several occasions it was rejected while the disc was already on sale and presenting evidence. let's hope that now they can upload the band to the encyclopedia. thank you.

Blacklist note says it was submitted multiple times before the release date. Whitelisted.

Whitelisted for re-evaluation, def a one that will need multiple mod inputs.

Hmm, the first song I can't really say it is majorly metal. I'm going to err on the side of caution and say wait until another release? It really seems half and halfmore ont eh atmospheric. If antoher mod wants to whitelist it for re-eval they can but I'm erring on the side of caution here.

Looks like Totenmesse was rejected for the band being released before their album came out (November 2nd)

Hi there,
I saw that Bedsore from Italy is blacklisted and wanted to ask you if it is for metalness or because someone submitted the band when there was no physical release.
Their demo is out on cassette now, let me know, i'd be happy to submit them in case the reason of their blacklist is not metalness.

US band I Am were blacklisted (I guess, for being non-metal deathcore), however, they changed their style and became more old-school death metal (even with some death/doom parts)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT3b8ciQ530
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_4qFSVVeac
I think they can be whitelisted now

Thanks for your patience. This is borderline, and IMO it would be acceptable if it were the only release, but if there's another EP that was less acceptable I don't know. Maybe let's hold off on this band for now until they have more material that's more metal than their first release.

They were whitelisted after Midnight Rider said that, submitted, and then re-blacklisted for being "more punk-based grind than metal". The album that you linked was part of the evaluation process the last time they were submitted, so that won't be enough to get them re-evaluated again.

As for what happened to MA, just more server issues.

I think they can be whitelisted now

This still sounds mostly like beatdown hardcore with some death metal influences. It's a bit closer to being acceptable than their previous output, but not quite there.

My band Netuno Doom from Brazil is on the blacklist. I can not enter as a band because of past problems. We released the new EP as Netuno Doom. Could they correct?

Blacklisted for being more modern rock than metal based on "Phoenix" (Full-length 2018).
I would also add that it has some clear Nu-Metal influences on various tracks. Blacklist stays.

Midnight Rider

The response from submit my band:

Quote:
Warning: a band called "Netuno Doom" (Stoner/Doom Metal from Brazil) is already present in the queue!

To avoid duplicates, please make sure that this is a different band before submitting.

I am not a moderator, so this is only to explain, which is the second submission and what is the core of the problem: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ne ... 3540446933

Edit: I have made a report on the pending band, explaining the whole situation: https://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/656203

We'll reevaluate them but I highly suggest that you learn what funeral doom metal is. Here's some good examples:

(christ, I almost got some PTSD from that time Goatfangs called Protest the Hero "progressive power metal".)

Edit: apparently they were already re-evaluated and judged to be beatdown hardcore. I agree.

Why was the band DEHUMANIZING ITATRAIN WORSHIP, banned? It makes no sense considering they are a brutal death metal band, with a split out, and an EP, I would like a response ASAP, thank you.
