See here: Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship are a doujin band, which basically means their music draws heavily upon existing music from the anime series Love Live in such a way that we at MA consider them to be a cover band. It’s a borderline case, though; they were blacklisted in 2017, so if they’ve released anything since then that may have less of a cover band-like nature to it, we may be open to re-evaluating them. EDIT: But looking at their discography on Bandcamp, we’ve discussed everything they’ve released to date, so you’ll have to wait until they release something new to bring them up again.

Holy shit, I use a lot of commas.

MC did miss the split on Stillbirth records and... yeah, it seems more of the same. Basically Love live songs just turned into slam songs.

Hello, my project Cry For Help was rejected for not being metal. Its a DSBM project and has all the indicators as such. I added a physical release to my BC which you will find here : https://cryforhelp1.bandcamp.com/album/my-greatest-loss . Just wondering if I can get this cleared up as I have a split release planned in the near future with Warskull, a BM project from Norway, and I'd like to add it to my list when the time comes. Thanks for your time.

The band was blacklisted because it's not predominantly metal by our standards. Since it was just blacklisted two days ago, you will have to wait for new material to be released if you want it to be reevaluated.

We don't accept cover bands. This band is basically a cover band hence them not being acceptable. Bands must release original material to be added to the archives.

Like we tell everyone else, the system isn't always perfect and we're gonna disagree from time to time. That being said there has to be a line in the sand somewhere and here it stands. So happens these guys are on the other side of that line.

About Abortions (Depressive Black Metal from Italy)
No chance of being whitelisted isn't it?

Blacklisted in 2013 for being some kind of ambient with depressive moanings, if that changed and they released something new you feel like it could be acceptable, feel free to post it here and we'll see.
It's always hard to give an answer to such a question without having anything to back your side up...

What's the reason for Velvet Thorns [Brasil] black-listing: based on the EP "Empty Soul" [2013] or "In the Name of Reason" [2017]? The latter sounds 50/50 metal, possible for re-evaluation?

Not a “is this band acceptable” question, but a release question. Undergang has released their unreleased 2009 demo on Bandcamp: https://undergang.bandcamp.com/album/ev ... -demo-2009

Now that it is available from an official downloadable source and you can pay for the download if you want to, is this acceptable to be added to their discography?

Yes. But the release date should be whenever the page on Bandcamp was published, not the 2009 date listed.

Could Willy be reevaluated for removal from the blacklist?
There are physical releases and the songs sound like brutal death metal/goregrind.

Was blacklisted in December 2016 for being ambient. So it was based off of that first one. I'll whitelist it, so go ahead and resubmit. We'll reevaluate once it's in the queue.

Why was the band Freezing Luna blacklisted? they admittedly are grunge, but the black metal influence is there, with black metal riffs and drumming used quite a lot. Proof: https://freezingluna.bandcamp.com/album/ana-09-deluxe

Just got a band submission rejected (for being mainly stoner/heavy psych band). Reading the topic, it's seems clear why it didn't make the cut.
Confusing stuff though is that some old (Kyuss), active (Black Rainbows) and new stoner/psych bands (Pigsx7) are up on the encyclopaedia.

Well...there is Stoner Rock and there is Stoner Metal. And there of course are bands that blend metal with rock like kyuss. Your band might have metal influences, but not an album that is predominantly more metal than rock which is why they got rejected.
Keep in mind that allt takes is one album that is clearly metal to be acceptable, so even bands like kyuss or soundgarden which might be way better known under their rock tag can still be acceptable by our standards.

Got it! Too bad that it cuts out some very nice genre close to metôôôl (stoner, sludge, heavy-psych) but I get that you need to draw the line somewhere of course.

(unrelated : maybe my other band can fit in ? Not sure as i feel it's more industrial heavy post-rock, but you never now... https://nnra.bandcamp.com/releases )

If you feel like it has an album with more metal than rock, go ahead and submit, if you don't, please don't throw everything at us and see what sticks. Might work with spaghetti, but can get pretty annoying for us (and you  )

Lunacy (United States) is blacklisted, even though they are definitely black metal: https://lunacy666.bandcamp.com/ . Are their albums not "predominantly" metal enough (it's about a halfway split between black metal and dark ambient) or was there another band by this name that got blacklisted?

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response. I won't try to argue too much, but their latest EP is two tracks of black metal and two tracks of dark ambient. I suppose that still doesn't qualify them?

I listened to it, yes, still pretty much on the borderline, so it's best to way for a bit more. The next release might change that, though.

The band Ayahuasca (Germany) was blacklisted; I think this might target another band than this: https://ayahuasca-kkr.bandcamp.com/albu ... h-the-mind

The link goes to a new album (available on CD) by Cologne-based band Ayahuasca, which is usually classified as "Experimental Death Metal" in most reviews.

The most recent release is borderline, but I don't think it's metal enough to whitelist the band considering that the rest of their discography is also raw goregrind of an even more borderline nature.

The blacklist says "deathcore" and this is pretty -core-influenced, so it's likely the same band. This sounds like it may be acceptable, whitelisted. I strongly recommend you to find samples for the entire album (rather than just the four songs on the Bandcamp) when you submit; we prefer to have the full album when reevaluating a previously blacklisted band.

Let me know if I missed anybody's post.

Hi, could you please now publish the LETHEAN (UK) profile, I take the point that the earlier demos were not fully downloadable, but the LP is now open for customer pre-order purchase - https://www.cruzdelsurmusic.com/store/i ... ct_id=1859 - and it would be much appreciated to have this bio page live for people's reference.

Thanks

We don't consider releases to be valid until they are actually available; pre-orders aren't enough. Once the full-length is released (or pre-orders start shipping to customers) you can resubmit on the basis on that album.

Hi, I have now re-submitted my Lethean page as I have been waiting until today for the album to be out.

Someone else has published a page today however which is much more lacking in terms of discography and membership details and uses inferior images - could you please take this one down and publish the page I have re-submitted?

I should clarify, this is my band, hence my interest in getting the page accurate.

Many thanks

Hi, I have now re-submitted my Lethean page as I have been waiting until today for the album to be out.

Someone else has published a page today however which is much more lacking in terms of discography and membership details and uses inferior images - could you please take this one down and publish the page I have re-submitted?

I should clarify, this is my band, hence my interest in getting the page accurate.

Many thanks

It doesn't really matter whose band page is submitted to the site first - doing so doesn't grant the submitter any special privileges or anything. So we won't delete the one that's already there. We do appreciate your help in making the page more complete, though! Just click the "Report an error" button (up and to the left of the band logo) and let us know what corrections need to be made. Thanks!
