I was looking for the Like Drone Razors Through Flesh Sphere MA entry since a new cassette of the project has been released this year (a split collaboration with Spanish black metal/noise band Scythe). To my surprise, it has been deleted so I ended up here.

IMHO, deleting LDRTFS from Encyclopaedia Metallum is a mistake for many reasons: (I) First of all, most of their early discography is essentially metal (drone doom metal - black/doom/drone amalgam). (II) Mid and later discography also features a fair amount of metal traits. Indeed, the last release from 2021 (a collaboration with Scythe) is essentially black metal with ambient/drone here and there. I will provide examples below. I do not know that it was a problem for the Metal Archives bands changing of style and moving onto new directions. (III) The entry has been on the Metal Archives, as far as I know, at least for 10-15 years, being a point of reference for most of us that interested into the work of the band, which is, probably, the first Spanish drone doom metal band (it actually started in 1997 as Drone Sphere before changing name to LDRTFS) and a cult project in the metal underground. (IV) The man behind is also part of other well known metal bands like Emanation or Teitanblood.

Examples:
-Drone Sphere demo (1999): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/drone-sphere ; a drone doom metal demo with actual riffs and classic doom metal structure featuring all the essential instruments: drums, bass and electric guitars
-Sunya demo (2001): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/sunya ; first track Misanthropy is a track of pure drone doom metal with actual riffs tho the presence of drums is less abundant than in the previous demo.
-Funeral Mantra demo (2003): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/funeral-mantra ; first two tracks are pure and repetitive epic black/doom; tracks III and IV move into a more drone/experimental dimension with least conventional structures but still feature riffs, electric guitars, drums, bass, etc...

-Mediation (first album, 2005): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/meditation ; essentially a metal album: track 1: metal starts at minute 09:43; song 2: pure drone/doom metal/noise; song 3: epic drone/doom/black in the style of the early demos; song 4: interlude; song 5: another drone/doom/black in the style of the early demos...
-Meditation II (album, 2005): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/meditation-ii ; drone doom metal from the beginning to the end.
-D.R.O.N.E.R.E.X.I.A. (album, 2007): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/d-r-o-n-e-r-e-x-i-a ; pure drone doom metal in the style of bands like Sunn, Khanate, Voice Transmissions With The Deceased, etc. but unlike Sunn, with actual riffing.
-Alone With God (album, 2010): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/alone-with-god; doom metal everywhere since the very beginning and we are now at the very middle of their career...
-Self-titled album (2011): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/s-t ; song 1: doom jazz, metal elements start around minute 7 and remain for the rest of the song; song 2: experimental track with clear metal traits; song 3: pure drone doom metal closer to the style of the demos and meditation...

If we take a look to the split releases and collaborations we can find a great amount of metal too:
-Scorpiace (split with Funeral Doom Metal band Of Darkness): https://ldrtfs.bandcamp.com/album/scorpiace ; metal starts at 05:40 aprox. and remains for the rest of the song, we can even hear some blast beats at minute 10:40...

2021:
-Execratione Maledicta Congessit (split/collab with Scythe): the full split is not available but a teaser can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/thothtapes/execr ... OBsxTk3Qa7 ; I own the tape and the collab is mostly black metal with drone and ambient elements here and there.

Eclectic career but still featuring metal elements up to the present day.

Azmodes and I assessed Like Drone Razors Through Flesh Sphere, and I stand by the opinion that it is drone music, devoid of metal. If other moderators want to weigh in on it, feel free to do so. Otherwise, the decision stands.

I have to agree with Spooky here, after having sampled some of bltflr666's links. Still sounds more drone than metal to me. A third mod agreed as well.

It's worth noting that "site seniority" isn't really a factor. Doesn't matter how long something has been listed, if it's been reassessed and found unacceptable then that's that. Plenty of forgotten oversights from the site's deeper past. I understand the part about it being a point of reference for fans, but, well, that can't exactly be a factor either. There yet remains a copy of the deleted entry, so if you need anything from it, let me know.

Alright. This was also recently accepted with over a minute less than 5 minute, apparently digital, release?

https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/M ... ion/980392

Yeah so the thing with this sort of stuff is that this 5-minute "rule" that seems to have creeped up on us isn't a hard rule. It's intended for digital singles (or more specifically for bands with only one such single) and even then it's not the end of everything. This all sounds familiar, right? What you linked is extremely short, yes, but as far as releases go it seems just about okay at a glance. Demo, cover art, two tracks from a genre not exactly known for its lengthy epics. Of course now your next thought might be, well what if those two tracks were one and they called it a single on Bandcamp? I guess that would be another thing, then, but the reality is different. We've gradually broadened our guidelines on digital stuff over the years since 2013 and every time there's headscratchers and pains-in-the-butt at the bottom of the acceptable/top of the rejectable. Seems the only way to really get rid of those is to get rid of rules and guidelines as well, so here we are.

Torquemada1488 (Esp). an older entry from 2013.
The debut album A Degüello is a complicated issue, but only the first three songs are decidely tthrash based. With the song Guerrero skinhead, the album quickly turns to rac and stays there for the most past, except for song Nr.7, which has notable thrash influences again and song Nr.10, which is strongly hardcore based. Thus, ononly about the half iof the album is metal:

The following ep is almost pure rac:
http://musica-nazionalista.blogspot.com ... -2001.html

The demo features mostly songs published onthe albums and the 2018 single features previuosly published songs:

Faithhealer deleted (thanks for finding the full release, ThStealth) - rock.
It might be worth looking through the other bands that Sleazer777 has submitted. I've deleted several of them already, but there could still be more commercial rock like Faithhealer on the site.

Listened to Taste of Insanity for a while, and feel neutral about them. Wouldn't care if they got deleted, but not feeling strongly that they should be.

Cage (UK) deleted. They had some follow-up releases, including this one that was originally released in '95, a year after the 7" that according to Sleazer is 'Heavy Metal' (see info on the Fairkirkmusicscene page). Member info for guitarist Phil matches up at http://www.45cat site - he has a comment there mentioning later releases. Definitely the same band, and far, far away from being a metal band of any kind.
https://music.apple.com/us/album/you-di ... /368340603

Lucky 13 also went by the name Nasty Angel. The first link is a song that is on that Lucky 13 single (more rock than metal). The other 2 links have some Nasty Angel audio. Considering these 3 samples and that this is a Sleazer777 submission, my vote is for deletion. Will let another moderator make a final decision, though.

Torquemada1488 (Esp) - haven't / probably won't be listening to
Taste of Insanity (Netherlands) - my vote is indifferent; could be kept or deleted
Lucky 13 (US) - vote for deletion

Thanks a lot, Spooky.
I already through his bands , that are labelled as heavy metal or heavy metal/Hard rock and the only two other suspicious bands, that I see at the moment are:
Quick Frisk (USa)- The song titles hint at a possible hard rock band, I could not find the demo songs, either:
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Qu ... 3540289078

Lost Vegas- the demo titles hint at a possible glam/hard rock band, could not find samples either.

That Sonic Rage track on YouTube isn't very convincing, but it might be a case where the other track is heavy. I will be requesting a copy of the song "Fire" from someone who owns the full release.
https://thecorroseum.org/rev/sonic-rage-same.php

Quick Frisk seems to be okay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRkPVpDzTbE

Lost Vegas - can't find any audio clips or info, but did find a better scan of the J-card, so there's a more clear band photo and logo now.

Lost Vegas (US) - no solid information found that they either are or aren't a metal band - so this can be up to Azmodes or someone else who can make a determination one way or the other, leave or move to research thread.

Fireclown (UK)- predominantly hard rock
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Fireclown/22085
The first song on their ep is the only one with osme NWOBJHM vibes, but imo it's also very borderline, with a lolot of AC/DC style riffing.
The second song is ha hard rock ballad and the third song is a standard boogie/hard rock track

Damian Kross (USA)- If the compilation track is typical for the stuff on the album, that it's certainly not death metal, or any metal at all. However i could not find further samples from talbum.

Puhelinkkoppi: some strange experimental hardcore, not power/death metal at all. The band has also much more album than listed on their database page:

Another ssupicious band: World In Pain (USA)
Their demo is described as nu-metal at Discogs:

To it comes the fact, that sveral members also play in Diesel machine and soil and that the demo was also compared to Saigon Kick.

The pre-World in Pain band, Earth was assessed by Helvede and OpsiusCato in 2017, and based on the clips provided they were deemed to be an acceptable mix of heavy/stoner metal (grunge was also mentioned, though not placed into the genre field). I couldn't find World in Pain clips, either - but they're probably not too far off from how Earth sounded. Wouldn't doubt that they're a little bit less metal than Earth considering the direction that the music industry was headed during those years and that the musicians involved were changing styles accordingly. Until clips are found to prove otherwise I guess they should remain on the site.

Thanks for the answr,spooky.
another suscpicious band, for which I can't find any samples:
Shock Value (USA)
They have the unusual genre tag "heavy metal with hardcore influences" and they song titles alsso look like it may be a predominantly hardcore band:

The only thing that I could find about Shock Value is that they played a gig with the bands Wesley Willis Fiasco, Full, and Orphan Punx at Bedrocks in Chicago, Illinois in '95. The submission comment says that they are in the vein of Ludichrist and Scatterbrain (though I have some doubts about it). Will leave it up to another mod to decide if they should go to the research thread or stay on the site. A couple others that look questionable that are in the same boat, along with Lost Vegas (US) where samples couldn't be found, and no substantial references or proof of metalness were provided with the submission:

Free Association (New Hampshire) - listed genre: Heavy Metal
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Fr ... 3540397084
(no submission note)

[Drain] (Preston, Lancashire, England) - listed genre: Industrial Metal

(Headfucker #4, described as "anchored to that cold industrial metal which causes me to make associations with Pitchshifter each time....")

Don't take genre descriptions on Discogs too serious. They are less than realiable.

Lucky 13 (US) deleted - more rock than metal.

- Torquemada1488 (Esp) - Their music sounds metal to me. Waiting for other moderators to weigh in.
- Taste of Insanity (Netherlands) - Vote: indifferent - could go either way.
- Sonic Rage (US) - am in the process of acquiring samples of both tracks.
- Fireclown (UK) - 1 nwobhm song and 2 rock songs, but hoping that it can stay.
- Justice (US) - Vote for deletion - rock outweighs metal here in my opinion, but could almost go either way.
- Lost Vegas (US), Free Association (US), Shock Value (US), [Drain] (UK) - no solid evidence provided that these are metal bands, and hardly anything has been found about them. Both of the submitters have added a handful of bands that are blatantly far away from being metal, and the 4 entries seem questionable. Would like to get Azmodes' opinion on if any or all should be moved to the research thread to err on the side of caution, or should remain on the site.
