Deleted Fortress (Texas, US) - the one that I added yesterday turns out to be the one that was already on the site (they just had a completely different line-up by the time they released "Horrors of Paradise", so I thought that it was a different band entirely).

Cleansing of the Temple:

literally is just fretless deathcore, they have less riffs than Oceano and even The Acacia Strain.

After@All (Hungary) -
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/After%40All/121981
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiInMOWMzJg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TChhatOT8LA
https://www-femforgacs-hu.translate.goo ... _tr_pto=sc
- the 2 songs found on YouTube don't sound like metal to me - like a bad mix of Tool and Faith No More with a nu-metal 'edge'. If anyone can find full releases, they could use a reassessment (accepted during v1 of the site). If nothing is found and it seems better to move them to the research thread in the meantime, can take care of the task.

Similar situation with this band - from the song that I could easily find, it sounds in no way like a band that belongs on the site. If someone can find the rest of their songs from this split, it would be helpful. Probably worth looking into the other band from this split that is on the site, as well as the other bands that Needleye's members are in that are on M.A.

Their releases under the name Haelo are also not metal, incredibly:

https://haelo.bandcamp.com/

PS: I also tried to find their demo called "To Many, Peace Is..." to see if it was for sale and it didn't even show up.

Diva Metal is acceptable and we've concluded that it's more of a genuine album of hers with guest appearances, as opposed to a "real" multilateral collaboration, so as a basis for inclusion it's solid.

Aye, this seems questionable. If anything not enough material to make a proper decision. Removed.

This is weird, I don't really notice any similarities between the tracks at first glance. Also the reporter says the offending material was removed from Bandcamp, but... it's still all there? The publish_date says July 6th, 2022 (after the report, tellingly), so could be the band removed the tracks and replaced them with something else?

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Thor/118452

Found their single on soulseek and it sounds like some early '70s hard rock/early punk with barely any distortion. At first I had doubts whether it's actually the same band as the first track doesn't have "the new way" mentioned in the lyrics, but the B-side does match the title.

After@All (Hungary) - thanks for finding the full album, Stealth. It's not metal. Since there's an earlier demo (format unknown), I'll add them to the research thread. Deleted.

All caught up here, except for Needleye -
Have found some more audio samples and another release, and though some tracks are definitely not metal, they might be okay to stay (indifferent)

"Ode to None" (their 'most metal' release) should be added to their discography if they stay. I'll put in a report about that:

Hello, KingSpooky. This band can also be deleted and moved to the research thread until Over Under Soul Nail and Scribbler appears? Which could be Groove Metal or Thrash/Groove Metal, since from Stubborn Pack onwards they are Nu-Metal:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... SVdDSrP8FO
https://www.mediafire.com/file/epl8ddse ... 9R.7z/file

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... YQE-6kdOWF
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Oversoul/50462

PS: I hope this isn't a dare.

This could use an additional opinion. At times the audio that's available sounds like groove metal, but there are plenty of breakdowns and nu-metalisms. Their earliest releases weren't added to their M.A. discography until 2019, so were not a factor in Oversoul being accepted onto the site in 2005. I'd be fine with getting rid of them.

Deleted Rose Shadows (US) - Rock.
https://soundcloud.com/perry-lowe/sets/ ... ws-the-80s

Deleted Magick (Fin) - had added this band a couple of weeks ago, and decided that since there is a lot of rock in their sound it would be useful to get more opinions. The consensus is that it's best to wait until their next release before considering them for the site.

Vile Engorgement recently got approved, but while checking out their Bandcamp I came across this blurb:

Quote:
the songs are based off this band enmity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxGjWAfEf7Y

The link is a YouTube upload of Enmity's 2005 album Illuminations of Vile Engorgement. I can't really tell if that quote is meant to say the songs are inspired by Illuminations, or if they're just straight covers. I admit that BDM is not my forte, so I'm not the one to make this judgment call, but they do sound similar. Maybe someone with more tolerance for the genre can take the time to compare them.

Yeah, I saw that note. Assuming that it meant 'inspired by'. I listened to each side-by-side for a minute or two yesterday, and didn't notice any of the same riffs, and neither of Vile Engorgement's song titles matched (though one was very similar).

Pending in this thread: OverSoul (France) - see Aug. 9+10 posts.

Yes, they are. Do you have information to prove that they're not a valid band? If not, please don't bring cases like this up. Some bands are extremely obscure, and information about them isn't readily available on the Internet. Others can be read about in old 'zines in some places online, but you won't find anything through a Google search. Sometimes information that was online (expired eBay auction/webpage) that led to a band being added is no longer available, and other times information is gathered through private messages with a band member. When Slaughterhouse was accepted years ago, there was proof of their existence, and that they played metal. I didn't personally research the band, no - but the users Futuresynner and Popa_Iuda (who have each added a lot of obscure information to the site) both knew about them, that they released a demo tape, and that one of the songs is called "Dogs of War".
There are bare-bones pages like this that sometimes sit for 10-15 years that way, and then more information turns up and can be added. It happens all the time.

Pending:
- Broken Autonomy (US) - listened more to it today. Vote for them to be removed - the most non-metal thing about them is the vocals, but the music/riffing probably isn't enough that they should stay on the site. Could use an additional opinion.

- OverSoul (France) - could use an additional opinion. At times the audio that's available sounds like groove metal, but there are plenty of breakdowns and nu-metalisms. Their earliest releases weren't added to their M.A. discography until 2019, so were not a factor in Oversoul being accepted onto the site in 2005. Would be fine with getting rid of them.

- Wahn (Ger) - were brought up in a report. Their only release has in the additional notes: "This tape was not for sale. Only a few copies were made." Note added by still-active user 'uglur' in 2015 - maybe could be contacted about further detail.
- Excruciate (US) - stumbled across this on the site today. Their discography is a 1-song demo (format unknown). The track has a runtime of 1:36. No references could be found, but the band members are listed and have played in other bands. Has been on the site since '02. https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Excruciate/2217

It seems the thing what is "metal" is mostly subjective.
I really don't get how is Volbeat (included on MA) metal, but A7X is somehow not. Subjectively I consider A7X more metal than Volbeat. Volbeat is much more some poppy hard rock than metal.

Here is the link to Volbeat's page, which has samples in the links section. They can be reassessed:

Also, this (fittingly-named) band, Cleanse, released a single with identical artwork to the demo that got them listed on the site. Wondering if they should be deleted because of that:

Rosie's a lot hard rock or maybe considered a metal band?

They were assessed by 2 moderators in 2015, and determined to be metal.
