I seem to have made a mistake adding this release as a collaboration between André Andersen (listed band), David Readman (listed band), and Paul Laine (listed artist/unlisted band). However, looking past the blunder, I'm actually all for deleting Andersen - Laine - Readman as a band, because it's a collaboration which was added back when we couldn't add collaborations properly. Think about it; it's worth considering.

Cool stuff but does this really belong? No guitarist listed and what I've sampled it sounds more like industrial stuff made to sound like guitars.

I'll check Zaraza soon.

Deleted Feisty Prey. Added based on a somewhat borderline metalcore EP. Their new-ish full-length is clearly unacceptable technical -core.

Does Killing Rapunzel really belong here? I am pretty familiar with the band as I have to deal with them around these parts.

I know. That's why I brought them up in the "Why was this band accepted?" thread. I don't think they belong.

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Tox ... 3540397631
and
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Tox ... 3540288195

are the same band (I suggest we take the promo demo from the Gutterscream entry and put it in the Drowned entry).
As for Eko-Tox:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXCAhSstW2c

I get much more of just a hardcore feeling from their music than a crossover one. They have some tendencies, but I am not convinced by them.

Merged the Toxi[c/k]deth entries.

I just copied the genre. My ears are fatigued from the band queue so the listening will need to wait for another day.

I gave it a listen, I certainly see what you mean, but I think it is acceptable as crossover. There's a bit of the benefit of the doubt from the poor recording, but the guitar work sounds thrashy.

*speculating*
Given the notes...
"Soulabove has a DJ and mixes Entombed-inspired death / thrash metal with rap vocals."
...would the band not be almost tossable?

Given that vocals have little to no bearing on how we judge genres, I don't see a case here based on that tiny blurb alone.

Deleted VRTRA (USA), sole release is invalid and was never released in July as implied. Projected release date is now September 2, so let's wait and see if the band even manages that.

This post was made about Head of David in the band genres thread, and from having heard their albums it seems kind of a stretch - okay, not kind of - for them to be here. The user below seems to agree there's very little that sounds like metal.

LoveBreedsSuicide wrote:
I have already posted this as a guest in Head of David section, but isn't it TOO generalizing to pigeonhole them as "experimental industrial metal"? Experimental is a nice catch, but "Industrial metal"? There aren't even many elements of metal in their sound, let alone "Industrial metal". Of course some segments influenced future industrial metal acts, but it is not enough for defining them this way. E.g. Godflesh's Streetcleaner or Skin Chamber's Wound are Industrial metal because of their consistent atonality and strong deviation from "normal" rock/metal music. While Head of David is the '80s band with a strong post-punk mentality and a lot of influences from '70s psych/blues rock and early heavy metal.

If anything, they belong to "noise rock" category like Swans, but since there are some metallic moments, it would be much more appropriate to call them "Experimental Rock/Metal with Industrial influences" (implying that they could've been influenced by some classic industrial acts like SPK, Laibach etc.)

psych rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp7EdXhX4C8
punk/noise rock in the vein of Sonic youth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqlG5ZKBw5Q
doom-ish heavy metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ojEEot4DIs
hard/psych song with bluesy main lick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p2u3s4PaSY
noise rock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghEC79P18g8
sort of industrial track, but not metal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RuFiBuK9T4

All three albums share this proportion of different inspirations and a fully shaped "industrial metal" sound is nowhere to be found

Ripa Joda is evidently a Nü-Metal band.
post-grunge/alternative metal very much like Godsmack early stuff.

As specified in the notes for the demo the project was never any form of metal, it consists of Dark Ambient / Dungeon Synth-esque pieces.

I saw someone bring this band up in the "why was band x rejected" thread and decided to give a listen. It sounds pretty borderline -core to me so I figured it might be worth a re-evaluation.

I didn't see a reply for this one. Did anyone get a chance to listen?

I had a conversation piece with an administrator from this site, a very cool person. I asked him why is Porcupine Tree not in this site yet a band like Rush (who I love) and Enchant (who I like) are in. He told me sometime back there was a debate whether they should be in or not, I say they shouldn't. Look, Rush has there ''metal'' elements on some albums but not on all of them. They're more a Progressive Rock band, not a Prog Metal band. Enchant? Enchant is a Progressive Rock band, period. They have nothing metal in their albums and I own 'em all and nothing jumps out at you as being metal, more like Progressive Rock to Hard Rock, not metal.

Porcupine Tree on the other hand HAVE more Metal elements, especially on albums like ''In Absentia'', ''Deadwing'' and even Fear of a Blank Planet. PT is more metal than Enchant has ever been and you can see it with the lead singer, Ted Leonard. He sings on TWO prog rock bands, Thought Chamber and Spock's Beard. Spock's Beard isn't included in this site, why should Enchant?

Porcupine Tree (I'm a fan of the band) has some metal elements on their later material but no fully metal albums. That's not hard to understand. Regardless, we don't compare bands with each others.

Not nu-metal, but also not predominantly metal. Alternative rock with some heavier moments is probably closer to what this is.

Somebody who read my review of Power of Mirantic's ''The Conscience'' contacted me to tell me that the band plagiarized some of its music from the band Diluvium and its record ''Aurora''. I listened to a few songs from both bands and apart of a few shifts in pace and pitch, several songs are indeed identical. If you take a look at the lyrics, it becomes in fact obvious that Power of Mirantic simply copied them from Diluvium.

Please compare these two tracks for example:

Diluvium's "Like a Saint in Velvet Rags" (2001): www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hCDfCuKFkg
Power of Mirantic's "Touch to Your Soul" (2011): www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjHQ6_o8gwA

What happens with cases like these on the Metal Archives?
