I'm going to respectfully contest this. I submitted a metal release which was accepted quite happily as metal. Yes there is an ambient track on YouTube but it's a stand alone track from another release which no one has, and I very much doubt you do. If you do, gimme :)

Dude I own every single release of Heroin Makes Happy, none of them is predominantly metal.

If I were to suggest anything, it would be because one of the versions is over 20 minutes long, however, it seems that one of the songs included is referred to as a "noise version"...so. But, what do I know?

I'm interested to know why Quiet Riot is on MA. I mean I like them and all, but I always considered them hard rock, or even pop metal. I'm just curious that's all; this is not a complaint. Do they have some genuinely metal songs that I haven't heard of? Recommendations??

While I'm not a big Quiet Riot fan myself, I've always been under the assumption that the first two albums, pre-Metal Health, when Randy Rhodes was the guitarist, are safely on the metal side.

Interesting. Wikipedia labels those albums as "glam rock". Not even glam metal, just glam rock. I gotta check them out.

Wikipedia once also had "dark emo" as a subcategory for In the Nightside Eclipse so it'd be in your best interest to pretty much disregard any genres they attach to albums.

Re: Quiet Riot

Their most Metal albums are Guilty Pleasures, Alive and Well, Down to the Bone, Critical Condition and, of course, Metal Health.

If you ask me, Metal Health and Alive and Well are their heaviest albums.

Haven't listened to the debut, but the sophomore is pretty glammy.

If Metal Health is their heaviest album, I can't see how they could possibly be on the archives. That album is weak. Very, very weak.

They're a borderline band. Some make it in, some don't. Trust me, in the near 15 years they've been on the archives, they've been brought up more than once. We've gone over their discography with a fine-toothed comb, and they're still here for a reason.

This song at least is unarguably metal:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that if a a band released their music at a price of, say, 666 dollars, that wouldn't count as a legitimate release since most people wouldn't buy it at such a high price. That's why I held off on submitting Khragkh from Belarus, but now they've been approved anyway. So what's up?

Their release is more or less a compilation of Avatar's material. Only three tracks are new:
- This Is the Life (3:59)
- Through Reality (3:02)
- Blacken Sin (4:10)
+11 mins.
All things considered, the band might still be worth including. As it stands, however, the entry is a big "grey area"; the main page or the album entry can do with an additional note. The songs may have been re-recorded for all we know, but I highly doubt that.
If there's a physical release - since it wasn't accepted as a digital-only band - it should be added as well. I can't find the info myself.

Just finished listening to "Watch Out" by Trash track-to-track and am left wondering why this band got on the site, especially considering the reputation of the very man who added them. This is rougher sounding AC/DC-influenced Hard Rock with a few chords taken from Sunset Strip. Not to say there's no Metal on "Watch Out" ("No More Rock Tonight" stands out as well as a few tracks from the A-side), but enough to be on the archives? I don't think so:

"Burnin' Rock" is pure Hard Rock:

Slave Whipping Blasphemy. So, I have my reservations about the validity of nearly all aspects of this band's info, but I'm mostly here to inquire about distribution. I'm really not convinced this would be accepted today based on what information we have.

*Niggerbitch 666: There's no info on format or limitations for this one, but it seems dubious. It was supposedly recorded and then shelved for some years before being released in 2000, and upon release, was 'self-released and distributed only to close friends and members of the "KvltKK"'. While most of that last sentence sounds like trvu kvlt kiddie bullshit, the main takeaway is that this demo was never properly "released" by site standards, as far as anyone can tell.

*A Kall to Whips has additional notes that have been parroted around the web, claiming that it was listed on CafePress.com for a short time before it was dropped from the site for being racist garbage, and limited to a whole 10 CDs. There's a two-fold issue here. Firstly, based solely on what I've seen in the rejection thread, 10 CDs of a 23 minute release seems borderline for what gets accepted around here. Secondly, CafePress is a website that lets people put images/logos on textiles and home goods, like coffee mugs, phone cases, and T-shirts. You can't sell music on the site. That casts even further doubt on this one being a legit release.

I'm not saying it's a fake band; you can readily find a dozen different YouTube videos and blog .rar downloads of both releases, and lyrical content aside, it's metal that's honestly not horrible. But I am saying this seems very, very dubious that this reaches the standard for a proper physical release.

CafePress is a shopping platform just like any other eCommerce site, so it's not unheard of for bands to issue burned copies of their albums/demos. This was the era before Bandcamp, mind you. I do recall seeing it listed all those moons ago, but have no URL to back it up. In any case, the music does exist in some form or another. Whether or not it's valid is another question.

EDIT: I just did some cursory googling and discovered this thread from NWN's forum. The user pataphysicien hasn't posted there since 2013, but he claims he had tapes produced for Slave Whipping Blasphemy.

Regarding SWB - It's quite right that the releases were made exclusively for cafepress and were limited to 10 copies - these were subsequently banned from sale due to the content. This basically means that a run of 10 was made, with very few of those 10 ever being publically sold.

In terms of what that means in terms of inclusion on this site, I need to seek some counsel as I'm not willing to make a decision myself on this.
Would appreciate a second and third opinion from my fellow mods.

Edit : I Can't really use the NWN Info as anything to guide us. It's easy on a forum to say "that was me, I have tapes". There's nothing tangible here.

Just sent him an email hoping if his friend would be interested commenting.

The user in question has chatted to me on Facebook. I have to respect anonymity as requested, but I've been able to evidence the existence of the material - this has been elaborated on in appropriate private places. SWB will stay, at least from my perspective.

This band needs some real attention.
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Venus/54063

There's not a hint of metal in their music.
- Bluesy alt rock (debut): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 86Agjj-i9P (full stream)
- Electronic alt rock (sophomore): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpJMIm76c8Q (1 track)
- Alt rock/nu-metal (3rd album): http://www.portaldisc.com/disco.php?id=990 (samples of all tracks)
All three albums belong to the same band: https://myspace.com/13venus

They may have played heavy metal prior to recording the debut, as the additional note suggests; however, nothing they've recorded is metal, not even remotely.

I can't really find where this band was suggested to have formed in the 80s, nor to have ever been metal. It seems like the woman who is the main force behind the project was friends with some guys from Torturer and Criminal, but nowhere can I find where it is suggested that they were a metal band. It also seems that they formed in 1992.

Funny enough, their drummer now plays with some friends of mine.

I just listened to some samples of that and can confirm. The first album is tolerable (still far from anything worth listening to), but the other stuff is just :ugh: :puke:

This is in relation to Deathwish being accepted? How the hell? This band has always been a hardcore band.
