I recently got th ep of the czech band Thief" Deux Ex Mmachina" and it is certainly not progressive metal. The style on it could be described as alternative/nu-metal/metalcore with hearable influences from bands like Korn or Tool. Please, listen to the entire ep here: http://bandzone.cz/thief
Here are some of their old demo songs (I do not own their first demo): https://www.youtube.com/user/thieftom

SotLB and myself will re-evaluate this. True, it needs a genre change at least!
[EDIT]: We both find it riffy enough. Most of the stuff is acceptable Groove Metal. Genre was changed to "Groove/Alternative/Nu-Metal"

It has a single heavy/speed metal song (Track 9: Марш мотоциклистов).
The rest is bluesy hard rock in the vein of Rainbow/Deep Purple/Uriah Heep/early Whitesnake (and so on).
Not even borderline, really. Removed!

100% DJENT. Just a carbon-copy of Meshuggah between 98' and 05', nothing more, nothing less. They're gone.

SotLB and myself agreed that there's way to much ambient wich makes the DSBM side not prominent enough.
Besides, it was previously rejected years ago by TUA for similar reasons (we support him).

Deleted "The Taste of Silver" - some sort of screamo/mathcore band with a bit of metalcore mixed in.

Which album was Oxbow accepted off of? I always considered them to be a noise rock band in the vein of The Jesus Lizard, Big Black, etc. While they do have their heavy/sludge moments, the majority of their work seems to be based in noise and experimental rock.

Probably "An Evil Heat", that's why their are currently listed as "Stoner/Doom Metal, Avant-garde".

Sure, it will be re-evaluated.

Deleted Applehead - Soundgarden/Alice in Chains worship grunge but without the metal.

Re-evaluation probably needed.

Dunno if anyone's interested in buying the digital release. Of what I've heard, I'm not.

Can't find the first demo, though:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/W ... ima/297890

I've updated the page, because there's little to go on, but it's a name to keep in mind... Weeping the Black.

Found a new song, linked in an old report:

Dimora is available on Spotify.

There's a review of Meaning in Lacrima who refers it as nü-metal on the first song and tracks 2,3 as ballads. Four track is referred as half-ballad.
Dimora is Godsmack/Disturbed nü-metal. I'm absolutely nuking this!

Thanks, Anti.

Another band I was wondering about recently is Holy Soldier. I know, that they were accepted based on their first album, but I was listening to it recently and ffrankly I do not find any difference in style or heaviness between H"Holy Soldier" and "Last Train". They both sound to me like Ratt's Out Of The Cellar album, combined with Dokken's more hard rock material, also more Har rock than metal. The only songs, that could be called metal on the debut are "Tear Down The Walls" and with some hesitation "See No Evil" , which has something similar to Queensryche, the rest is predominantly hard rock imo. The third album is grunge inspired modern hard rock, by the way. Here are all three albums:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-l4GzF234A
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-0pi_B ... 5D5E4E2C33

Please, can somebody react on this. Also on Steven Patrick's solo career?

Stryder is somewhat borderline and deserves a re-evaluation based on the entire single.
Freeway. The review doesn't specify which era of Def Leppard we're talking about. There's a small chance it's metal-enough if it's in the same vein of the first album.

It doesn't hurt if we keep both of them until the missing tracks surfaces.

Thanks, Witcher.

They will be re-judged by the staff. It may take some time to be done, though. Patience.

In fact, we're focusing on these two demos. We'll get to a decision soon and post it here.
[EDIT]: Removed! A raw, borderline demo among a discography of three full albums plus an EP and various minor releases consisting of pure hard rock doesn't make it qualify to keep it on the database.

Frozen Rose - predominantly hard rock. Thefirst song on their 1991 ep has some metal riffing, but then it gets all commercial in the hard rock style inspired by Kiss and stay so until the end. The vocalist is really good, but the music is unfortunately not predominantly metal. Listen to the whole ep here: https://archive.org/details/FrozenRoseFrozenRoseEP_0

You're welcome, man. I'll review Bootleg asap. Cheers.

[EDIT]: "Dagdrömmar" sounds like Iron Maiden on their debut and/or early Saxon.
"Tankar Om Dej" on the other side is more rockish (perhaps, like first Leppard).

Borderline as fuck but it makes the cut. Let's keep it ;)

Two mods approved this back in 2016 and I'm supporting their vision aswell, this have lots of classic metal riffing.
It has a glam vibe yes, but this sounds more like Savatage meets early Motley Crue than Poison or Warrant.

A strongly suspicious band is Powerage (USA) from Pittsfield. The band and their single are listed as "blues/hard rock" at Discogs. Unfortunately I cnnot find any samples, but I rely on the other users or mods, that they could find some now or in the future. In any case, i found it important to list the band here as potentially deletable and problematic:

The guy claiming he was never in the band with no evidence besides "Im a black puerto rican and could never support anything like that", when there are plenty of NS people in countries like Indonesia, isn't enough for the band to get removed or for him to get removed from it. Neither is there being nothing about the band on the internet. Whitewashing is a very common thing, and that's likely what this is.

As a complementary comment on SotLB's post, yes, whitewashing is a very common thing *ESPECIALLY* among nazi-wannabes.

And yes, skin color and nationality is not a particularly big impediment for nazi wannabes to be nazi wannabes.

I've taken assignment of the report. The person who submitted the band is still active, and there may be a chance they remember where they got information about the band, and how they confirmed that the artist is who he says he is. While it is just as likely it's your typical Nazi whitewashing attempt, it's also entirely possible it's not. We weren't the most meticulous back in 2004, so I'll wait to see, first, if the submitter remembers anything.

While it has its metal moments, this doesn't sound predominantly metal to me. Shred mostly.

Hi here is paranoia, I think that this band should be removed.

If you download the link to the demo : http://portugalunderground.blogspot.com ... or-de.html
You'll hear that this is not metal... In my opinion, the sound is so raw, we can't really hear any thrash riffs. Maybe more a kind of hardcore or whatever.

Maybe they have released something metal, but that is not.

So guys, what do you think about it?

Re: Auschwitz from Puerto Rico
- I've ended up deleting it. There's enough evidence to indicate that the release was very likely invalid and that the music is predominantly pornogrind and not metal. There is evidence that it existed, however.

Deleted Bacchus from Belgium - rock, honestly not even close to metal.

Casting doubt on a band so others can help.
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Subliminal/112888

I've come across this through the random search function, and I remembered having seen the debut on CD while rummaging through someone's collection a couple of years back. I stopped and picked up the CD as I didn't know what it was, and asked him what genre the band played, and he said nu-metal. I put it down and moved on to other stuff. I didn't expect the band to be on the archives, and until yesterday, I'd forgotten all about it.

Anyway, while I realise (as I type) that my post bears no weight, I'm putting this out there for those who have the CD or have heard the songs first-hand. I can't find anything myself.

This one? link 1 / link 2.
I couldn't find any info on their 98' demo nor any musical samples.

This isn't the one I saw. I saw the other one with the dead man's face.
This one - second link - is cheap, though. Is it a Spanish site? Hope someone's interested enough to grab it.
Thanks, MR. Appreciated. :)

Safe Haven is a very questionable entry, though it's possible it's here because of a "side project" rule.

I know that Mike Vescera (who has been on many albums I have discussed on my YouTube channel) is the vocalist, so I'm thinking it's listed here for this reason only. However, Safe Haven's sole album is more AOR than anything else going from what I've heard, as opposed to the usual traditional metal Vescera usually performs.

Suspiria from Mexico was added to the queue before by me on 2018-09-19. But it was rejected due to the reason "very poor sound quality and a terrible mix". I accepted that, totally. But today it was added to the site by the mod. What's going on? If it finally qualified as a eligible digital-only band, my submission should be restored, right?

Mod's:

Respect you guys, as alway.
