A question about the French Folk/Black Metal band Naastrand:

The entire album consists of metallicized military marches and traditional folk songs with no known authors. All the compositions are theirs with the exceptions of "Seigneur barbare" and "La blanche hermine" which are covers of the RAC band Ultime Assaut and the Breton/French folk musician Gilles Servat respectively. Does this violate the spirit of a band being accepted on account of their material? Could a band be accepted to Metal-Archives if all their compositions are original but the lyrics aren't?

So, the music consists of original compositions made by the band but the lyrics are pretty much like if they used "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" or "Humpty Dumpty"? In that case, yeah, it's acceptable. The music is still original even if the lyrics are public domain.

Deleted Metalfolk.

Vavoura Band acknowledged, that one slipped my mind around Christmas. I'll try to get it sorted.

I'll check Animal Soul ASAP.

Vavoura Band is gone.

The band must have made three albums/demos:
https://scontent-amt2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/ ... e=5CBB9D0E

The debut is the only one listed on MA:
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... aven/80444
I can't find samples online, but I know that BlackMetalGirl is still active.

Sophomore release:
https://www.jamendo.com/artist/355684/a ... oul/albums
Very few metal moments. Mostly rock.

Can't find the other album, Quattro, either.

Deleted, but not blacklisted. If anyone ever comes up with sufficient sampling, we can have another look. But I doubt any of the other stuff is acceptable. Might be worth a post in the research thread.

Is it necessary to have both entries in this case?

Nope.

Hello, there is a band named "Dangerous Meeting in Nagasaki", which is labeled as black/doom metal, but its only release features just one song that is pure drone:

Nuked.

Things aren't looking good for Joshua Perahia, but I still have to work my way through the entire disco.

Actually I'd say the last album, Resurrection, saves it. Genre changed, but we're keeping it.

The American band Straightway plays melodic hard rock and not heavy metal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q17z20tbg3A
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHx-P7ec2TY

Edit: Band Nr.2 The OOrphan Project
Their music seems tome to be much more progressive hard rock than progressive metal, with clear inspiration by bands like Kansas, Yes, Marillion or spock's Beard.

I'd agree based on the EP, but that demo track is pretty metal. I'm hesitant about deleting them without sampling the full demo, but it's probably nigh-impossible to acquire.

Still have to look at that other band.

Unfortunately I cannot find the complete One Way to Heaven anywhere. three songs from it do appear on the ep, but the four others are exclusive to this tape. Here is the info about the tape from the uploader on youtube: https://christiantapeunderground.wordpr ... to-heaven/

Agony Bag:
Controversial band, I know. but, quite objectively, their style is a mixture of occult /progressive rock in the style of Black widow and punk/new wave. There is no way one could describe their 2001 compilation, which contains all their early material, to be a predominantly metal album or a predominantly NWOBHM album . The song structures and riffing is Clrarly in the punk style, combined with some progressive/psychedelic rock parts. It is certainly more similar to the stranglers or The Damned than to Iron Maiden, saxon or Judas Priest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phh1a9B ... zRgMagC-IB

yep, this is early punk plus 70's prog rock/occult rock. Nothing remotely metal about it so I'm going to remove it-

well spotted, Witcher.

Deleted Höstkänslor from Peru. Proven to be plagiarists and stealing about half of their total musical output.
All the notes from their band and album pages are inside the spoilers tags for posterity.
Spoiler: show
Currently, owing a 2000 euros fine for plagiarizing tracks and putting them on Höstkänslor's debut album "Fear Reality", as well as the split album "Long Distance..." and the digital single "My Liefe is an Angle" which makes him responsible for several incidents of copyright infringement.

The known plagiarized songs are as follow:
-"Anhedonic Feelings" is "All My Feelings Were Fake" by RQTN.
-"The Final Beginning" is "Il Quinto Giorno" by Three Steps From the Ocean.
-"Whisper" is "9" by Daturah.
-"My Liefe is an Angle" is "Zorny Maroz U Dalinie Zimovaj Imgly (Starfrost In The Winterfog Valley)" by Vietah.

The band was caught plagiarizing some tracks by other bands, therefore the label Maa Productions has cancelled their contract with Höstkänslor, destroyed the remaining copies of "Fear Reality" CD, and sued the band for about 2000 Euros. Also, it was discovered that the song "Wishper", which appeared on the split "Long Distances...", was intercepted from the post-rock band Daturah's track called "9" and that the digital-only single "My LIEfe is an Angle" was in fact the song "Zorny Maroz U Dalinie Zimovaj Imgly (Starfrost In The Winterfog Valley)" from Belarusian band Vietah.

The label Pest Productions ended their contracts with the band and apologized on their website. The remaining copies of "Long Distance..." have been destroyed.

Pest Productions says:

Important Announcement about "5 Ways Split - Long Distance..." Somebody contacted and informed us that Höstkänslor’s work "Wishper" in this split was excerpted from one of German instrumental post-rock band "Daturah" works named "9". And notably, "Wishper" is simply intercepted from "9"’s audio frequency, not a cover of "9". After serious verifying, we found the matter he informed was 100% true.

More than this "Whisper" thing, Höstkänslor also cribbed famous post-rock band RQTN’s work and incorporated it in their first album "Fear Reality".

I am deeply regretful and very angry about all these stupid wrongdoings Höstkänslor did. More than disrespect to their own, what Höstkänslor did was also a trample to other 4 bands which put their effort into this split. It was a hurt to the fans who bought this split, and also a hurt to Pest Productions' good reputation! We will kick Höstkänslor out of our cooperative band lineupimmediately, and tell all the other labels not to do any cooperating with them.

On behalf of Pest Productions, I apologize to all the fans of Daturah and all people who bought this split.

Last, with great regret, the selling of split "Long Distance…" is henceforth stopped for good and we will destroy all the remaining copies.

BTW: Another post-rock project "We Steal Sunshine" of Höstkänslor menber's also use Russia post-rock band Mooncake's word as their own opus. In WSS's Myspace page, they say they sign with China post-rock lable Weary Bird Records. But in fact, WBR has nothing to do with WSS!!

The American band Attitude Adjustment actually played hardcore punk in the style of Black flag and similar bands and not crossover/thrash metal, iunlike the spin-off band Attitude, who really played real crossover thrash. samples:

If you ask me, "Out of Hand" and "American Paranoia" will be the real test of the band's metalness. A good amount of the band's other discography is Thrashcore as opposed to Crossover Thrash.

I came across a complicated situation involving the band Sainte Vermine. https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sa ... 3540431281

It seems that "Sainte Vermine" is the moniker of the artist, and that the two releases on that page really belong to two separate projects, that being "Exhumed Soulless" and "Archaic Mantra"

Furthermore, Archaic Mantra has two releases under that moniker.

Looking through Sainte Vermine's band camp, there are 4 singles released under "Sainte Vermine", but two are shamanic folk sounding stuff (similar to what is combined with funeral doom on the two Archaic Mantra releases) and the other two are really weird French horror-core rap songs.

I went ahead and I submitted both "Exhumed Soulless" and "Archaic Mantra" to the queue. If both of those projects are accepted, then it stands to reason that "Sainte Vermine" should be deleted.

All of the information I needed is already split among the two bands. The only other thing that might need doing is extraction of a logo from each album art but someone better at Photoshop than I can do that.

Deleted Löwenherz. The demo was a private release, each member has a cassette, but that's it.

Edit: Band Nr.2 The OOrphan Project
Their music seems tome to be much more progressive hard rock than progressive metal, with clear inspiration by bands like Kansas, Yes, Marillion or spock's Beard.

About Attitude Adjustment, BastardHead and I listened to the two releases Muhammad noted. Really riding that borderline, like 50/50. BH was leaning yes in the end and I'm undecided, though I would be fine with either eventual outcome. So the band stays for now, unless/until more mods shift the scales toward deletion.

If more mods want to listen, they can also give the EP "No More Mr. Nice Guy" a try. That's quite Metal as well, although yes, the EP swings wildly between Metal and Hardcore.

That's the Metal trifecta for Attitude Adjustment: "American Paranoia", "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Out of Hand".

I have already posted a link to No More Mr. Nice Guy in my original post and I have to say, that I do not agree with oyou at all regarding that album. while Out Of Hand has really some songs (not all) , where I hear metal influences, I can hear such influences abouut only in two of the songs on American Paranoia and zero metal material on No More Mr. Nice Guy. That album symbolizes pure pure eighties hardcore, ballsy and not polluted with modern slams and Breakdowns, but decidedly aggressive punk based. But nevermind, I certainly can't forbid the mods to listen to it, if they want.

Another band : Most High (USA)
Sounds to me like commercial eighties hard rock and not heavy metal. The comparison with White Lion made in the video description is quite relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mwi1r6HHpM
http://melodic-hardrock.com/high-high-1990/
http://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vie ... =19&t=9226
http://bkmusic777.blogspot.com/2015/01/ ... -1990.html
Edit: Anti Katholisch wHERE TO START? I will try to sum up the "music" by saing the most of their demo cconsists of guitar induced noise, combined with something , that sounds like a guitar tuning and practising scales. Thre are some moments, when the guy tries some chords progression and attempts to play a black metal riffs, but those moments are just a few and so the releases are predominantly half-improvised noise imo:

And band Nr. 3: The White Prince: Aproject related to Anti Katholisch and it shows. Basically more of the same madness, only this time less noisy and better strucured, but equally riffless and again with long and childish ambinet parts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y6gLsx49qo

For what it's worth, the song you linked sounds metal enough to me. ;)

CARAT
Hard rock as far as I'm concerned.

http://www.discogs.com/Carat-III-B-Ring ... se/4040447
Side A (original): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HHrp7iy5vk
Side B (new performance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoJPTLUcWpc

They released another song titled "Eva" in 1993:

This is an official YouTube channel. If the band's to stay - which I doubt - we can add the members' names.

Carat deleted.

Most High stays, the demo on HMR sounds totally unproblematic to me.

Anti Katholisch of probably the worst stuff I heard all year. You can't get lower on the lo-fi scale.
While "Blackened Angry Jesus" has 2 Metal and 3 unmetal songs (+outro), "The False Religion" is filled with metal. It's really hard to make out the riffs in this atrocity, but they're constantly there..somewhere...

The White Prince does have a slightly better quality and yet again sounds riffy enough, just...not good...
