And...this is the second time I've ended up reviewing something that someone else just managed to beat me to by a nose, this time it was the latest Suffocation live album. I promise that I'm not doing this on purpose. lol

Am I going crazy, or are the mods slacking a bit on accepting the virgins? I wrote a review for one yesterday and that one's still pending.

Well, given that it's mostly only Derigin doing the work, I'd guess he may have had to assess something in real life, every now and then  no need to get impatient.

Though I wonder if reviews submitted yesterday and not yet approved will be actually counted among yesterday's stats, or today's - but again, no big deal, just a curiosity. The important part is that Sunday final number (and leaderboard).

Whoever is modding the review queue will definitely know that the virgins need to get through before the end of the week. If it's Derigin, he'll know the importance of that better than anyone. Chances are there's a general backlog if those are being held up too.

Yeah, it's pretty much just me. Tony once and a while. As Gasmask noted, I'll definitely have all virgins submitted during the week handled before the end of the challenge, no matter what.

Congrats to Gasmask to pulling ahead with a reasonable lead! Also shoutout to what's certainly going to be the most ridiculous release reviewed during the challenge:

Hell yes, knew this one was gonna stand out lol. Although I'm almost disappointed to see no Reddit bashing in it.

For real. Here's what they wrote for a parody black metal album:
https://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/ ... tal/417865

Quote:
"Kvlt Chan" is a parody album that falls completely flat, resulting in it being recognized as a poser-type album for those who claim to be fans of the genre but don't appreciate it's history and reputation enough.

 Nah, bruh. Stuff like this is released to get a reaction like this out of clueless people like you.

The “Kvlt Waifu” album actually sounds pretty funny, I might have to give that a try since he says the musicianship isn’t bad.

I’ve been really focused the last couple of days on doing some discography runs, of which the Daedalean Complex and Holy Death (not yet finished) proved most satisfying. Now I remember why I like these challenges so much :)

Same sort of thing on my end with the Eye and Eye albums for this challenge (and a nice break from the Iron Savior discography run). Always a trip going through these previously untouched discographies.

I've been working my way through the Eclipse discography myself, kind of a curious evolution from a classic rock beginning to a modern metal/AOR hybrid, though the biggest treat thus far has been the guitarist's side-project Knights Of The Realm, a very fun album in the old Accept and Judas Priest style.

Hells, that new Aquilus one was a really good read. I sort of wanted to listen to it after your review, but I didn’t have a promo so it will have to wait until after this week.

I've been installing my new PC, while writing with the old one. It does not have a CD player...

Today, I got a lot done with it, played Far Cry 3 for the first time ever. With ultra settings it is absolutely beautiful! I've been thinking about my next review for this challenge... I am listening to an album via Youtube at the moment... And I got a CD player on PS3 any way, but it is way more better to listen on a PC, where you can rewind/forward within a song easily ;) . (I preferred a new PC and not a console...)

So, I wish I can find time to review at least 1 more album. Another virgin band, even...

Thanks a bunch, it's a very interesting listen, probably one of the most original things to come out of the black metal style in several years. Sonic Perspectives' owner hooked me up with a ton of promos for this challenge, and the new Aquilus and Unanimated (which I'm toiling with today) were very pleasant surprises.

Well, I think I've officially set a personal record for Reviews Challenge with a breathtaking... wait for it... 3 reviews. How I maintain such a prolific schedule I'll never know

Maybe I'll write a couple more over the weekend since I have a couple of albums in mind but I have stuff to do so we'll see.

Well, I've had quite a slip-up and written almost nothing today, just 2** reviews this morning (which will count on yesterday's total) and whatever I can manage before bed. Why are my weekends always more complicated than my weekdays?

EDIT: **Oops, make that 1.

Compared to the fifth day of the last challenge, we are down 59 reviews and 10 participants.

Too early to call it now, but things are looking good for Gasmask if he can get back to pumping them out and Hells doesn't go for a weekend mad dash. Third could still potentially go a few ways, but TheBurningOfSodom has a solid lead.

Thanks, I truly think that Wall Of Skulls is the best thing that Brainstorm had put out since Downburst, if not since Liquid Monster. They've been putting out consistently good material since they switched over to AFM Records (I think they have one of the most consistent discographies of any power metal band), but apart from Firesoul, nothing that they've done has been on the level of their early to mid 2000s output. A solid, catchy anthem can go a long way, but it goes even further when you put some additional fire and energy into it.

While I love this day by day commentary, I'll be touching wood from now to Sunday since I'm nearly out of ideas lol. AxlFuckingRose (what a name) is killing. Also, being out for this whole Saturday was already in the plans, but I had to spend a couple hours in the hospital since I almost broke my finger during my soccer match. Definitely something I could do without in this week. Whatever voodoo I made on Gas, I'd suspect it's starting to come back to me :(

If you can get third I’ll be very happy, your influence on the review crew this last year or so has been really positive. Sorry to hear about your finger, but have you tried not punching the referee?

lol Now it's 3 times that one of my Sonic Perspectives reviews has come in just after someone else hit the album, I guess it's just the risk you run when you accept a promo from a big name like Death Angel. Hopefully my last few SP reviews that I'll be penning for tomorrow won't have this happen.

I don't know how much of an impact I exactly made, but yeah, loved your words. I'll try till the end. And no, wish I had known it before! (Though, before you worry, I actually play as a goalkeeper lol)

If nothing else, the splint on my middle finger is gonna be the perfect response to anybody snatching the lowest step of the podium :crash:

Huh, not sure what happened, but my total should be six reviews and not five if I'm not mistaken. Not that it matters in the slightest but I was surprised when I saw the statistics.

Weird, I have all 6 in the spreadsheet, don't know why it showed up like that. Either way, fixed. I'll double check all the numbers before the final tally.

My bad guys, they were all on the albums portion of the spreadsheet which I would have double checked before doing the final numbers for the challenge, but a few didn't get carried over to the daily totals sheet for today for some reason. I'll blame it on doing it before I had any coffee. I redid the numbers for the day and it should be good now.

I think I'll make it close, but I don't think I'm going to take first today. It looks like the stuff that was scheduled for today has been cancelled, but I'm pretty wiped out. I might have the will to throw together 5 or 6 more today, all of them stuff that Sonic Perspectives wants ASAP, but I'll be lucky to break 50.

My stats should be four, not six. I haven't done any since Monday.

I'm gonna go all-in before I pass out and try to reach the round number of 30. Whatever happens in the last hours of the challenge, peace. I feel emptied. I'll be finding out when (and if) I'll find the strength to wake up again

Thanks. Just done, and I'm done. I can't wait to go to bed and spend the night dreaming about Thumbman overtaking me. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Goodnight to everyone, see you for the results :metal:

I did 6 reviews. That was enough for me, so kudos to everyone who did more. You guys are machines. :)

Wanted to get a 3rd review in today but just didn't have the time for it. Felt good to write a couple of reviews again though, it's been too long.

Congrats to everyone who submitted!
