This CD is not a trend setter. This CD pushes no boundries nor does it amaze the listener with it's previously unheard stylings. No, this CD is just a quality slab of Norse black metal from the increasingly insular bastards known as Darkthrone.

Honestly folks...this CD is quality, despite the common harassments from the more "kvlt" of the whelp-infested black metal community.

Even so, this CD is not a "classic". It's double bass runs, rock and and roll backbeats mixed with Nocturnal Culto's rubbery black metal guitarwork make for a certain atmosphere of violence, while keeping itself from wanting to engage the listener too much. A strong production accompanies the feel as well, giving weight to the somewhat standoffish material cobbled together by the gruesome twosome of Fenris and Nocturno.

Overall, this CD is neither a failure nor a triumph. It is a nessecary purchase for all longtime fans ans a mostly ignorable release for those who are not. Like much of the "modern" era of Darkthrone the CD does it's expected job of dark lyrics being pressed through a haze of violence guitarwork.

I give it a thumbs up...but I won't write it into the black metal hall of fame.

Well, we sure know this CD is a CD.

For Hellfucked's Gods of Negativity

Not for Beatles groupies - 90%
Written by goredisorder on March 15th, 2008

If my own epic - and it is epic - of hate towards John Lennon wasn't enough blasphemy towards the hypocrite, Hellfucked makes sure that word does indeed get out. Blasphemizing one of his most blatant works which proves he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, Hellfucked give you a lesson in John Lennon depreciation which proves they do. "Imagine" a world where people see Lennon for the phony he is, where people actually have a mind of their own instead of being told what to believe and being a yesman to all the bullshit, you and me Hellfucked, you and me. Needless to say this sets the mood for the rest of the album which unleashes relentless satanic fury. This is not music to kill yourself to but music to kill Beatles fanatics to. Full of hatred and no compromise, Gods of Negativity prove to be gods of black hate. Instead of letting bands shovel the debris called politics into your mindless skull, why not find a band that enforces what you believe in instead? No Nortt I don't give a fuck about your Nihility, but yes Hellfucked you actually know what I've been saying this whole time, thank you. There is no surrender in the war of hate and Hellfucked is ready for battle.

Well if that isn't massively inco-fuckin'-herent...

That's hilarious, I know that people tend to read a lot into bands sometimes, but seeing them as mystically anti-Beatles is so beautifully random.

Just to mention i am not sure if this is the place where you complain about people's reviews in which you think they are retarded, it didn't say in the first posts.

For Augury's album Concealed

Something's not right... - 67%
Written by ShadowFactoryX on September 1st, 2006

Well, as far as the actual musical composition of this album. Im pleased, vocally I most certainly am not. I dont mind new ideas, but the mixed vocals on this album make it not worth listening to.

Maybe about half the tracks on this album are decent. Nice composition of drum, guitar and bass working. Technicality is a check, and so is power. But whats the problem? Opera/Epic vocalization provide by a female/females. To me, death metal can be expansive, and have many different sounds, but as far as vocally, no I dont agree on this at all. I don't think you should be able to switch from a blast beat to what I would call a verse from Phantom of the Opera. It really does ruin it that much. Now, not that the members of this band cant play, trust me I love the MUSIC part of it, but when those opera vocals kick in, it makes me cringe.

Canada is known for having great metal/death metal bands come out of thier nation, and they have right to be proud, but as far as Augury, they need a little work. If you want to buy this, I highly recomend listening or borrowing from someone before purchasing, if you like it, good, if not...then I can assume why. Hopefully the future holds promise for Augury, because they have great musical talent and potential.

Honestly what the fuck. "metal/death" it's called death metal. A 67% because you don't like the vocals, what is this person fucking retarded. He is complaining about the vocals when in his list of favorite bands he has Cryptopsy and Wormed, I love both of those bands but honestly the vocals suck ass.

I wasn't asking for it to be deleted, I was just stating that the person was an idiot. But yea is there a thread where you can basically just complain about how stupid people are in their review. if there was I would imagine that the thread would be clogged up.

Review for Impending Doom (US)'s Nailed. Dead. Risen.

some actually good Christian metal - 98%
Written by fallen5693 on March 23rd, 2008

Very, very good Christian metal. Their very first single 'Silence the Oppressors' really comes out great, and all their songs have an awsome message. Reeves' voice is brutal, and any person who thinks less of them for being Christian should just shut up and listen to the actual music.

This Lamb of God (Sacrament) review isn't the worst in the cosmos, but I thought it should be shared.

Sacrament - 91%
Written by godatesomesatan on March 25th, 2008

Some things that bother me about this album are the people who dislike it. But not because it's bad, or not their taste. The people who call Lamb Of God sell-outs. You want to go talk about sellouts? I have advice. Lucky you:

Disturbed
Korn

I love both of these bands dearly. Isn't that ironic.

Sacrament is a powerful album. To be honest, I do not like the lyrics a whole lot, and I can totally relate to a complaint about that. Redneck's chorus could be considered a joke. The value of More Time To Kill bothers me. I see this.

The way I see it:

New American Gospel ~~ Complex lyrics, and messy style while remaining a powerful musical release. Almost NO singles or memorable songs [comparatively]

As the Palaces Burn ~~ Fairly complex lyrics, extremely good music. The vocals aren't clean but they are easy to understand as opposed to NAG.

Ashes of the Wake ~~ Complex lyrics comparatively, very polished musical value however still quite up front and not really that stylized or fancy. Amazing record

Sacrament ~~ Rudimentary lyrics, not worldly, not like expected. Bad? I don't think so. Not what you expect. Extremely polished musical style, varied from previous releases. Possibly misconstrued as sell-out material.

As lyrical value goes down, musical quality subjectively increases.

The new style of dual singing, with clean switching to guttural, often, makes me pleased. I could listen to Hatebreed all day, and be happy. But to be honest the singing is eerie, dark, and powerful. On my first listen I wasn't even noticing the singing. I think the vocals overall are much more hateful sounding, a lot more dark and agonizing (in a good way).

Also, the guitar is perfect. It takes lead when it should, and it is thoughtfully complacent when it should be. I find it slightly more complex, than previous efforts, at that. The harmonizing parts with rhythm/lead make me happy also.

Drums are, as always, up to par. Above and beyond the call of duty. We salute you, Chris Adler.

Bass.. He he. I play bass and i have to say that even if your untrained bass ears can't hear it, it's killer. Thundering, and fast as hell. Campbell plays significantly better than most metal bassists in such similar genres as what Lamb Of God is. Point is that LoG has no set genre, they reinvent their own wheel every album. And no one can come close to them in talent when you consider their style, and place in the world of music.

Tracks to stay away from, if any:

More time to Kill, Lost Angels [a very good track]/Requiem (the transition from tracks bothers me, the first time I didn't know it was a new track...)

Tracks to note:

Again We Rise
Foot to Throat [for concise, bad ass, moshing music]
Descending
Blacken the Cursed Sun
Beating on Deaths Door

Thank you for your time.

--------------
My favorite part is "the new style of dual singing, with clean switching to guttural, often, makes me pleased." - so un-new it's eye-wateringly cliche.

"I could listen to Hatebreed all day, and be happy." - my poor child.

I thought about that, but even still, if LOG has gone in this direction, they're only digging an even deeper grave with this glaring lack of originality. Plus his statement is kinda vague.

Korven Kuningas - 90%
Written by sumorabbit on March 27th, 2008

This album is very good. The melodic chanting of Korpiklaani re-surfaced in songs like Northern Fall. On Korven Kuningas, the melodies are more catchy, and maybe a little more commercial, although, I can't imagine these guys as every being commercial. Along with the catchy melodies, come traditional Finnish tunes and lyrics.

Overall, this album is a must-have for folk/metal fans of all kinds.

I love it how so many black metal fans take their music so seriously and use the same lingo for all of their reviews. How can that album rape humanity if only 100 or so people have actually listened to it?

well it might be tongue in cheek, but most black metal fans aren't known for a sense of humour, although 'Legalise Murder' proved that not always to be the case.

Its difference from all before songs we have seen .

Its about jesus and Chrismas

This song is similar to : " MASTER OF THE WIND " and also " Heart Of Steel "

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in Heavenly peace
Sleep in Heavenly peace

Silent night, Holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from Heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born

Silent night, Holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy Holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace

I know it might seem a bit ridiculous at first to believe that someone thinks Manowar wrote the lyrics to "Silent Night", but if you think about it for a little longer, they probably did.

A review for Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II

The best album of power metal ever!!! - 100%
Written by bunnymenvalkirion on April 1st, 2008

We must begin with the first song: Eagle fly free is a hymm that every metal fan must know. A great voice register of Kiske and great melodic guitars are the principal caracteristics. Then, i admit that the very first i had listened Rise and Fall i thought it was a silly and nonethesless song. But only when you understand the letter and instrumental you realize that is a extraordinary piece of metal art!!
But the very best are Save us (in few versions) and I Want Out. Songs like You Walk alone and We Got The Right (composed by Kiske) are good midle.-songs. And Dr. Stein is a clasic!!!!

In resume, a fucking piece of power metal clasic album!!!

"Lair of the Minotaur!", I say loudly.
"Glare of the Minotaur?"
"No, Lair...but that's a pretty damn good name too!".

Normally I don't post these bite-sized bastards, but there's something about this one...

Where can I start this demo is amazing.

Any fans of death metal must listen to this that enjoy raw recording.

Something about the way he goes 'where can I start' and then just, like, doesn't amuses me.

anything Gabometal86 submits is pretty bad. His reviews have HORRIBLE grammar and very poor unimaginative adjectives.

His way of explaining things consist of two categories...one, saying "OH THIS IS SO FUCKIN METAL!!!" or, he says "this is gay and faggoth".

Great. Now people won't get confused.
