This maniacal slab of destructive black/death metal needs a review.

Anyone who digs ANYTHING put out by Dark Descent over the last few years will likely dig the fuck out of this.

I just released my first solo black metal album and am curious to hear people's take on it. My biggest influences are bands like Taake and 1349, but I love a wide range of black/death/thrash.

Thanks in advance. Cheers.

My project just released our debut album 'lamentations' . I would very much appreciate a review of anyone has the time. I can provide the tracks too if you wish. We play a Style of doom with a little bit of death metal influence.

I would like for someone to review my bands album from last year. We play progressive metal with folk tinged influences.

https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Gallows_Hymn/The_Gathering_Storm/792098

https://gallowshymn.bandcamp.com/album/the-gathering-storm

Our new album is coming out later this year and I want more honest feedback to help with the process.

(We're also on Spotify)

My new band just released our debut EP over the weekend, and I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on it, full review or otherwise. It's a free download on Bandcamp, which also comes with a lyrics booklet I made.

https://autumnsashes.bandcamp.com/album/eulogy

Musically, it's gothic death/doom heavily influenced by bands like Amorphis, Woods of Ypres, Swallow the Sun, Draconian, and other groups of that nature.

Only one review for Daisuke Ishiwatari? This is unacceptable for a man whose discography is impeccable.

Humbly requesting reviews for Guilty Gear Original Sound Collection. Tracks can be found individually on YouTube.

If anyone wants to review either of my bands for the current challenge, they are Begravement (begravement.bandcamp.com) and Pyreworks (pyreworks.bandcamp.com). We play traditional/technical death metal and melodic death metal, respectively. Pyreworks is also on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, etc.

So I can actually declare this a success, as Insanity Beckons ;)

Other than that a fair review (you were very close with first rehearsal observation-actually it's an adlibbed recording) although I must take issue with "solos go almost deliberately out of tune" as this suggests they started in tune, which would be very surprising (although not outwith the bounds of coincidence I suppose...)

Cheers for subjecting yourself to it and for the feedback dude. Next one will hopefully be better soundwise but there's little hope on the playing front :D

My first band's demo remains unreviewed if anybody feels like taking a look at it. It's an unfocused mess with sloppy musicianship, but it's my unfocused mess with sloppy musicianship.

It makes reviewers enormously happy to get feedback like this. I'm glad you have a sense of humour about it, especially the Insanity Beckons part ;) I was actually feeling really nostalgic while listening because the recording style reminded me of the guitar/vocals only songs I recorded in my bedroom on cassette tapes. Is it just you on the recording? Drum machine? I hope it was as fun as it sounded.

Putting up my old band's demo, if anybody is interested in reviewing it: it's absolutely not the most professional thing and the production is sloppy as hell, but we put a lot of work at the time and got almost no feedback, even if we had a lot of fun! :) i think it's melodic death metal, but it's inspired mostly by late Death and Bathory

yeah, just me, sort of; the drums are live drum tracks that I cut up and paste to fit to the length of the guitar parts.
I can't play guitar and don't write songs as I have little time to, so on rare occasions when I have the house to myself and the neighbours are out I just record me making a noise and try and make something from it. (out of an hour of complete crap I might get a minute worth to use as I'm that inept)
Everything is recorded via my laptop's mic (hence quite abrasive) into audacity so completely DIY no expenses spared.
And yeah, it's all just for fun and I have no illusions around my abilities so reviews aren't going to make me feel bad about it, well worse about it anyway :D

I put a tape release of the first demo (as a joke nostalgia to my demo trading days in the 80s) and sold them all pretty much instantly that it went up on bandcamp which was a shock and meant I had to actually go drive round the city to find tapes to record onto...

Lol well at least you can say that the critics don't understand your brilliance but the underground loves Malignant Intent. I used to have all sorts of problems with noise levels when I was trying to play 2 tracks of guitar parts at once. I had to use 2 cassettes and record the rhythm tracks first, then play the rhythm tracks on a stereo without having my amp up too loud, but also be close enough to the speaker that my singing could be heard. As a result, I got the same sound of raw strings coming through sometimes as well.

Cool that you can't play guitar but tried anyway :-P At least this is a fun way to get better.

Gasmask_colostomy for the reviews on the Valravne releases. You picked up on some stuff on the Some Kind of Vampire EP that other places reviewing haven’t quite caught yet. The guy on the cover btw is Ted Bundy.

Haha I’m sure he is! I couldn’t think of a better comparison to describe that busy, twisting style right under the surface of the sound. Let him keep the compliment :p

Tragedy Mask - Theatrum Tragoedia (2020)

Tragedy Mask is my one-man project based in Iowa, USA, and I just released my first full-length album titled Theatrum Tragoedia. Link to my MA page is in my signature.

In accordance with the thread rules, I will spare you the big PR blurb and rather refer you to my thread in the promo forum for a more in-depth description of my project with links: https://forum.metal-archives.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=128124

Suffice it to say, Tragedy Mask does a very unique take on groove metal with a stylistically wide range of elements including melodic death and dark power metal, as well as classic groove metal of course. If you’re a fan of those genres and are looking for something new and refreshing without being inaccessibly experimental, I would absolutely recommend checking out this album.

An album review would be truly appreciated, and I’m more than happy to hook you up with a copy of the album if you’re interested in reviewing it.

My band, Tower of Babel, currently has just one full-length album, entitled Gods of Pain. It was released digitally on May 16th of 2020. It pretty much falls under the umbrella of post-black metal. Track 4 is recommended if you want a quick feeler for the album.

Hey guys,

it would be great if i could get some reviews for my Melodic Death/Doom band Aeurtum, mainly the last release "The Depths of Which These Roots Do Bind".

When I get the time, I'll go through this thread and write some reviews myself, always after new music!

Hi guys,

I play bass in Phoenix Titan and we released our debut album "Avatar of Fire" late last year. We'd love if someone with interest in heavy/power in the vein of Accept/Judas Priest would be so kind and review our album.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hello,

If anyone would like to review our new album, that would be awesome! Blood & Bone " Now We Are One" featuring former members of Gutted (USA) and Descendent. We would describe this as "Brutal Groove Metal". Much appreciated!

Do I need to wait for the bands listing to be approved before I can request a review?
