If I had some crappy fisher price recorder demos, I sure wouldn't make them available to the public let alone ask people to review them. Just a thought (I'm not trying to be a dick) aimed at no one in particular

Well, actually, I did have some music that has truly poor sound quality but even a few years ago, when I had some songs on mp3.com, I had about 200 downloads in a couple of weeks before everything got shut down. And those songs were (very) rough (improv) versions with inferior sound quality. They were 2002 versions which are far eclipsed by the 2004 versions :)

Either way, I'm not letting anyone hear anything until its fucking perfect :fuck:

Then maybe I'll come back to this thread one day and ask nicely for the good people around here to write a review :)

That's a good thing yes. I try to focus on releases with none or not so many reviews myself.

Hey speedemon 86, try reviewing Black Reign (US), if you're still interested in reviewing, I tried myself but I just couldn't find the genre nor the words to describe it.........

This band hail from Romania and play raw black metal. The lyrics on this album represent their anti-religous views. This is their first demo and it is limited to 500 copies.

After a rather sinister intro that contains a lot of distorted guitars and vocals the band launches off their assault of unholy black metal. The guitars are the dominant sound in this release. There is some variation in the guitar sound and it is pretty melodic and fast paced throughout. However after a while I tend to get kind of bored with their sound as each track just sounds eerily familiar to the previous tracks. The vocals are integrated neatly into the songs for the most part and are pretty rough but remain fairly comprehendible. One thing that is kind of an annoyance for me is the way in which the band will often push the guitars into the background when the vocals come in to play. I find the riffs they use on the guitars during this period are simply boring. Listening to this record, I get the sense that the band is trying to vary the sound by using a few different techniques such as suddenly dropping the pace in the guitars and then picking it up again, but this just doesn’t seam to catch my interest that much. Also they attempt to vary the record with their third track, which is a short acoustic guitar solo, but alas this does not work, as it sounds to short and dull. Production wise I would say it is fairly good, though I would prefer a slightly crisper guitar sound.

Overall I would say that this is a solid demo and well worth listening to, but the vocals need more variety and the same applies to the sounds of their instruments. The whole disc is only 18minutes long though, which I find suitable as it would get very dull if it was much longer.

Standout tracks include “Forgetting the Origins,” and “Stigmata”

What'd you rate the album?

Good review for telling what the band is and how they sound, although nothing too spectacular. I mean, this is a great review to let me know if I want to buy the record. This isn't a review I would link to in this thread and rave about.

Also, "this band hails from Romania".

rob rock- i have rage of creation i could do that one.

black sabbath-THE BLACK BOX: "dvd songs include "black sabbath", "paranoid", "iron man" and "blue suede shoes" all done at the beat club can't find a date though.

i could also do "thin lizzy- dedication" i used to have all thin lizzy albums but they were always short on time so i sold them all and waited for a live cd or a hits compilations which is what "dedication" is.

Thanks; praise from someone I think is an excellent reviewer means even more.

I agree with you about NB's earlier material; I have Zimmidu-Za which I consider boring and predictable and have listened to maybe twice all the way through.

Great review! While most of the technical musical jargon flew over my head, you still give a solid impression of the album ("Blut aus Nord with gypsies" was particularly cool).
Funnily enough Zirnindu-Sa was my first exposure to the band which I dloaded and it didn't impress me at all, and I never bothered to listen to it past the intial time. But a few days ago I listened to it again and it sounded a lot better somehow. It still sounds like a weaker version of their "From Transilvanian Forest" demo, but it has a certain charm. I'd probably give it between 65 and 70 percent.

I really need to review some more albums, but I've simply got too much on my mind at the moment. After Januari things will have slowed down concerning my study, so I might do some then. There's plenty of obscure new stuff I want to bring to light like Argar - March to Black Eternity and their two side-projects Grim Funeral and Spectre from Spain.

And I want to at least do a review of Sala Molksa. It somehow creates such an expansive musical vista. It sounds HUGE at times, like a universe opening up before your expanding mind. Reminds me of Abirgor's Orkblut in an odd way; they both seem to pack four epic hours of musical drama into a small half hour. Like reading the complete Lord of the Rings and then noticing it only took twenty minutes. Bizar.

Thanks mornox! Your reccomendations a few months back really helped me get into the thicker darker more musically interesting black metal out there. It's quite a compliment when someone you respect says they like something you do.

I'll have to give Zirnindu-Sa arother spin...

I once listened to that one in my local store and never bothered buying it; far too much cheese-riddled synth. The follow-up which was released a couple of months ago is a lot better and I never thought twice about buying it.

Thanks and you're welcome.
Ye gods, we're almost like a special little reviewer-circle of people whom Nightgaunt gave eight points to. Seriously, all four of us are continuously patting each other on the back here  "Those of the Eight."
Now I'm curious which of my reviews it was that actually scored so high. Thousand Swords probably.

I might review that, Doomwatcher. I haven't listened to it in forever though. I recommend getting it anyway, like I said on UM.

I know it was my Goat Horns one he gave teh 8 to. Not necessarily my favourite of my reviews but then again Nightgaunt probably wasn't the one who accepted most of them. Anyway, let's form a "Nightgaunt gave us 8 points" club and meet every so often for lots of sex.
