Regarding Forgotten Woods' latest work... Haven't listened to the music, BUT that cover art is an abomination, I don't know whether I should piss my pants laughing or dive my head in a toilet to get rid of the bad impression.
And come on, man, Megiddo suck no matter how old-school or evil sounding they might seem on their debut. Anyone who listened to Root's Zjeveni (at least I did) would laugh at this suckorama (or Czech suckmasters Amon Goeth, for that matter). Still, I admit without any problem that their Atavism Of Evil is way better.
And if you haven't had enough example with Zjeveni, Darkthrone's Panzerfaust or Varathron (SOME slower pieces like Son Of The Moon from His Majesty At The Swamp) should make you at least more reserved regarding the monstrous praise given to Megiddo's debut.:ugh:

are searching, according to their website, for someone to review their music. I am not that into Gothic and the music that I heard is not somthing that pleases me ... or better said: I would have a lot to criticize and it would not be a nice review. See the one I had written for Andrarakh.

and I am also a little bit tired of reviewing bad produced music and to write harsh reviews... I wrote enough of this kind during the review-challenge.

Hey, I play in this band, it would be cool if someone had reviewed our demo! Well, actually it isn't printed yet, but it's mastered, will be out soon and contain 7 tracks. ^^

 Yes yes, I know all those bands, and actually enjoy all of them, including Amon Goeth .. perhaps i'm a bit biased about megiddo because they're from my town and, simply put, absolutely nobody was playing this type of old-school BM here back then. I won't rate the album higher than 80% myself, but it deserves the praise it gets.

But you know how I feel about Root, and indeed, megiddo can't touch 'em.

Can Someone please put forth a review for Assorted Heap's "Mindwaves"? I have only find about one review for it on the internet, It seems intriguing, and I have had it on my want list for awhile. I would be nice to have a fellow metalhead's opinion,as it goes for lots of money on ebay, and I dont want to waste it for nothing.

I'd love to see Gutterscream step back from the thrash/power/NWOBHM a bit and write some more death/black maybe even grind reviews. The reviews of Nembrionic and Macabre got me curious as to what other late 80s/early 90s stuff he might have in the closet from the more extreme genres. I think it would be awesome to have some perspective of what stuff like early Morbid Angel, Napalm Death or Mayhem was like when it actually came out.

I'll write mine anyway. Needs more than one to get the average to a level closer to the album's quality.

Good points (and I'm still working on my Ihsahn review), however, I think the average ratings on the Windir page are a far, far bigger concern. I mean, sure, Ihsahn is annoying and Electric Wizard are boring, but neither of them are total complete worthless shitty nauseating talentless childish sugar-coated mainstream retarded dumb fucking garbage, unlike Windir.

At least Fenriz wrote songs. Like most other modern musicians, Valfar just browsed the Metal charts, entered their names in the Adobe Money Generatorâ„¢ and pressed the "Generate random song ignorant kids will love"-button.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed. My mistake.

Feel like writing an objective review for Transylvanian Hunger... But that would imply I'd listen to that stuff again. Without mentioning there are far more "ignorant kids" listening to Darkthrone than Windir. Just look at the respective numbers of reviews for each band here.

Now all sarcasm aside, I fully understand how one can hate Windir (while I for instance can't understand how someone who claims to be a metalhead could hate, let's say, Iron Maiden). What doesn't imply you're right, but at least I understand.

Ah, I just looked. I didn't remember you were the one who wrote that Isengard review that pretty much read like "I normally listen to Madonna and Michael Jackson, and one day I listened to a Merzbow album, and much to my surprise I didn't like it." I thought that one was pretty amusing, though it didn't make all too much sense. Pretty much judging Isengard by the criteria of sugar-coated modern Pagan "Metal", might as well review the Obituary debut by comparing it to the latest Necrophagist album.

While I do think that reviews should always be subjective, I do think a certain amount of neutrality should be given. For example, you can't write a Nightwish like "my favourite band is Nunslaughter, and because this doesn't sound like Nunslaughter it sucks." Isengard's full-length is unique in that it combines folk-ish material with the drunken dirty rotten imbecile (;)) attitude of old-school Punk Rock, and as much as the bank manager in a $2,000 brand name suit can't relate to the punk getting drunk on cheap beer in the city center, yuppie (Folk-(in this case))Metalheads who want everything neat and tidy would not be able to relate to Isengard. It's nothing too shocking, and nothing I'd hold against anyone on an onlike message board, however, your review didn't even consider that angle. Actually, it didn't really say anything, it just went in circles trying to properly phrase that you could not relate to the attitude behind it, and you never actually even managed to properly phrase that.

Suffice to say I nominated it for Oven Fodder back then, but yes, there is some sparse musical description which qualifies it to stay, on a minimalist level.

Nicely put even if, as usual, you're a bit wordy, and Nightgaunt would have crafted it probably better (of course this doesn't mean I'll change my opinion, simply that I respect the writer in you).

Do you want to SERIOUSLY know what I think about this Isengard review - because from a discussion about Windir it has more or less ended up to this - ? Yes, it's atrociously written. I mean, there are no horrendous grammar/vocabulary mistakes, but it considerably lacks of style. Yes, I can't hold a candle to droneriot and a few others, even now, and I probably won't ever. I define myself as a "prolific but unequal reviewer", and, stylistically-wise, this review is probably one of my worst. However, the opinion is valid and, as droneriot says, it fully follows the rules - he was forced to admit it, even if he wrapped it in a mud of scornful flowery language. It may not be a very agreeable read, but it still is a legit opinion of someone who always hold Darkthrone and anything related to it as a complete joke.

My final word will be (I'm no more addressing to droneriot here, I think everything is now clear between us): now write a review to describe, OBJECTIVELY, how amazing Isengard is - and, please, try to go further than the tired "it's not for everyone" stuff. Good luck, my friend :)

I'm from Providence, RI, but Dark Faith played at a local venue in my neighborhood.

Man, live, they were awesome. But on album, at first, I thought it was pretty cool. But now...I don't know. I'm having mixed emotions.

I even had the chance to chat with Kellan Anderson. He seemed pretty cool.

I got to meet other bands who were playing, too. Todd from the band After Death was there, filling in for Path of Possessions.
