My vocals are not that good. I have a good voice if I cultivate it. But I sound like a 14 year old kid. Can someone please tell me what I need to do so that I can increase power and steadiness on my voice (scales, excercises). Also does anyone know any songs good for beginners? I typed on youtube and the songs were too difficult (yeah I sound like a whimp). Also here are some links to songs I try to sing. Do you recommend singing with the song playing on the background by the way? please don't suggest any bad habits such as smoking or drinking. Just advice thanks.

I would simply search for beginner vocal exercises/lessons on YouTube. Practice every day, but don't overpractice. Start with 15 minutes and work up to 30-60 minutes a day.

The key to proper vocal exercises is to voice the sounds as properly and accurately as you can and to not strain your voice. Make sure you understand the purpose of the exercises you're practicing. Just go slowly and steadily.

I use Jacobs Vocal Academy, available on Google Play as well as YouTube, while driving for work. There are great playlists for resonance, belting, breathing, and dynamics that could be of use to you.

I practice 45-60 minutes a day, mixing up the lessons from Jacobs as well as singing songs I like or can sing. In less that two months of beginning diligent practice (though I could somewhat sing before) I greatly increased my power and control, and my range by almost an entire octave.
