Hail Metalheads
Every Grindcore player among you must have noticed how hard is finding tabs of quite every grind band apart from Napalm Death and Carcass.
Not only that, hints and tips for decent high-gain guitar and bass tone are rare.
I am a beginner grind guitarist, hungry of hints, and I thought I could solve these uncomfortable aspects communicating directly with the bands I listen to.
One month ago I wrote a message via Facebook to Unholy Grave asking them if they could give me any tip for my newborn band or tabs of their song. I thought a not extremely famous band like this should always care a lot about its fans and so should always answer.
Anyway They read and didn't reply anything.
So, do exist secret rules to communicate with bands?

I'm sorry if you feel betrayed or ignored. there's no rule of thumb when communicating with bands. I've had very pleasant exchanges with "big" bands and hordes of tossers in "small"/underground bands... try to see it from their perspective. they may get dozens of fan requests per day, while they have day jobs and families to care for, and they may simpy not have the time to respond to all fan requests and questions... plus they may not have tabs for their songs at all. some bands write their albums on guitar pro, but several others, esp grindcore bands, it's fairly likely they don't use any kind of composition records at all :)

Just listen to the records and try to get the sound by ear as close as you can. It doesn't have to be perfect. About Communication: I asked some minor bands for some info and they answered some very quickly and others they took some time. The most famous band I asked on facebook is Q5. But small bands might not answer too. English might not be their mother language so they may ignore messages in English. This even happens when you copy the text from google translate.

Cristina Scabia cursed me out over at Blabbermouth some years back. In the days of Myspace, I used to write quite a few bands and artists. Talked to tons. Cristina would always read mine and never respond. I am a fan from way back. At the time I took it personally. I have ever record and have poured tons of money into this band. I'm just asking her what the inspiration for the song 1 19 and she can't even be bothered to respond. There was a story about her on Blabbermouth, I had a few beers and thought what a great time to let the world know she never wrote me back. You better believe she responded to that. How she gets thousands of emails a day and can't respond to them all. It was a humbling experience and a learning lesson. I apologized to her. I felt like such an asshole that I deleted my Blabbermouth and Myspace.
My point is don't take it personaly, even from a small unknown band. Even they probably get a shitload of emails. If not they probably have lives, or work jobs and do music. Don't give up trying to communicate with your favorite musicians if you want to, but don't take it personal if they don't respond.
