Anyone have any experience doing this? For the record the name switch I'm considering doesn't concern a band with a big fanbase or anything. One EP and a single have been released so far, all independent, and they don't even have the band name on the cover art. It shouldn't be a big deal, but are there any obvious or less obvious pitfalls to avoid here?

Other than losing the brand, no problems. You may have to re-register for copyrighting and all that tho. Just make sure the name isn't taken and you're set.

Yeah, if you have anything registered to your band you obviously need to change the registration, such as for copyright. Other than that, just post about it on your social media and change the profile name (if possible, otherwise make a new page). Not much to overthink here
