Hi everyone.
I decided to dissect the great second Amorphis album, "Tales From The Thousand Lakes", by playing it from start to finish on guitar.
Furthermore i tabbed it all by ear and integrated the tabs into the videos.
It might interest some of you who would like to play some of the songs.

My daughter will give me a hand on 4 tracks.

This one doesn't have any solo and i've always thought it was missing... so i did it my own way.

This one do have a solo, but a keyboard solo. So i transcribed it to play it on guitar, and tried to emulate those specific sliding sounds at the beginning.

There's some iffy spelling harmony-wise in the sheet part, but very minor stuff. If you want/care to fix it, I can point some examples. The tab themselves are great.

I won't fix what's already done, but i would appreciate for you to show me some weird stuff i did!
If you can help me to improve my transcribing skills it would be useful.

No probs, it mostly has to do with incorrect use of the key signature.
Take The Castaway for example. The song is in G minor, but since you didn't set that up in your transcription, you get all these constant accidentals and cancellations, like A#-Anat.
Properly spelled, it should be Bb-A, as in the example shown below. And since the flats are already in the clef, they don't need to be spelled every time they appear, making for a cleaner reading. You will then find accidentals only when working as tension/leading tones.



At points like 5:03 you can simply use a trill symbol above the first note and save yourself the hassle of spelling out all the notes.

The pitches are all correct nonetheless, it's more about proper grammar than anything else, if you care for that extra touch of perfectionism.

I can't fully read music, though i have small notions of music theory so i understood what you explained.
I can read and write rhythms and my ear is quite good, so that's enough to decypher songs and create guitar pro tabs
So you will see more key signature booboos in what's to come

This one was recorded at the end of 2020 ; i love that song.
After we finished it, i said to myself "YEAH im going to transcribe all the songs here and play them all !! FOR THE GLORY!! "

To be honest i don't really like this tune. The first 2 minutes are very nice but then everything falls apart with repetitive and poor patterns.
Anyway, i had to finish this thing right?

Im currently working on the 3 bonus tracks that appear on the Black Winter Day single, and more recent versions of the album : Folk of the North, Moon & Sun ptI, Moon & Sun ptII.

I did it at last.
I was a bit lazy i must confess, everything was transcribed and learned in october already, but it took me forever to turn the fucking cam on

First excerpt, this piano interlude i adapted for guitar with small effects (bends, slides).

The last cover but one. Kinda death/doom tune.

Last cover from the 1000 Lakes era.
Im not that happy with my playing at the beginning of the song, not very clean.. but well, i had to close that long cover run for good.
Once again i adapted the piano part for guitar during the second part of the song.
