This is great news for the music industry, specifically amplifier manufacturing. I forget the exact percentage, but I know a huge chunk of these tubes are manufactured in Russia. Obviously we won't be giving money to Russia during this time, so lack of importing will make these a very rare item for some time. I recently snagged a pair for my Traynor head this past Monday, and the store workers were congratulating me on my luck LOL

But hopefully this is the first of more companies to start taking the reins.

I assumed that most tubes were produced in China nowadays; that Russian tubes were something of a legacy thing. If anything, Chinese tubes are probably even more unethical.

JJ tubes are made in Slovakia, and the company has headquarters there, so that should also be a reasonable option. Unfortunately many tube brands seem to be just rebranders that buy generic Russian and Chinese tubes, do their own quality control, and put their own labels on them.

This is definitely good news, even apart from current events. It will be interesting to see how the quality compares. A lot of tone hunting guitarists hate what comes out of Russia/China/Eastern Europe, and hungrily devour any old batch of NOS tubes they can find. Wouldn't it be great if a truly comparable new tube source arose.

Personally I think it's long overdue.
