I got $100 for my 18th birthday, any chance that $100 could turn into a nice acoustic guitar from a pawnshop or will the prices/quality be still an obstacle?

You could find one at guitar center. In my experience pawnshops are about the same price for shit that's falling apart.

Really? $100 at Guitar Center? Now what brand are we talking about, not to sound elitist, but First Act isn't really my thing.

they don't carry first act. Bottom of the line acoustic guitars are $69 at guitar center, you wont even have to get bottom of the line... not that they sound bad.

Perhaps then I'll search a pawnshop and if it yields not, then off to Guitar Center I'll adjourn.

Dude, go to GC first, seriously. Pawn shops suck.

The one selling a Yamaha acoustic for $150 didn't suck that much. :) Either way, my venture has been postponed into the weekend, so I'll decide therein where I might go.

Save that $100, don't blow it on a bunch of firewood. When you've got enough cash for a decent instrument ( $2-300 ), then buy something that'll last you.

Your advice is good, but lacking in an example. I have two electric guitars already, so what exactly did you have in mind?

Well, it'd help to know what kind of acoustic you want. Nylon, steel? Jumbo, regular? Cutaway or no? Electro-acoustic or just acoustic? If you want a decent sounding acoustic that plays like an electric, Ibanez is a good company. Alvarez and Martin make great cheaper acoustics, but they play and feel less like an electric.

Good deals to be found at the respectable pawns like Max-It. Other than that, I hate those places. They need to be better regulated in my state. If you sell or pawn something to them, they give you rock bottom pricing and then jack it up to much when they sell it.

It's an AEL 20 something-or-other, I forgot the lengthy model name, it's an electric-acoustic.
