Me and a friend are trying to set up her bridge on her new xiphos. neither of us have ever set up a locking tremelo so it's a little difficult.

the guitar came in standard and was playing just fine. She plays in D standard so she lowered it down to D. After she tuned it down to D, all the strings sounded fine, except for the first string (high string). the 9th fret makes two different disgusting muted type notes that aren't ringing out at all and the 10th fret will make the same note, but not as muted. could the bridge just not be seated correctly?

Raise the action slightly on the treble side of the bridge.

Not to mention that the trem angle will need to be adjusted. If I can find the link for setting up an Edge III again I will post it. I've only set up one myself (for a friend), most of my experience is with the Edge, Lo Pro Edge and Edge Pro.

I know when i first changed the strings on my xiphos I had a lot of trouble; i'd never used a locking trem before. Kinda related, when taking out some screws that hold the trem springs in place, the screwdriver just ground into the screws, just be careful if you ever need to take them out because the metal seems quite soft. They may well have changed this in newer models, mines the XPT700

Get a ruler, measure the action at nut and bridge, and see if it differs from what the factory recommendations say it should be. Probably the Edge III is riding at the wrong angle in the body.

The Edge III is not such a hot tremolo, and they used very cheap materials. I had all kinds of trouble with the screws.
