I was looking over some internet sites and started looking at the effects of pickup height. Interested in seeing what other guitarists have setup for their pickup heights for playing metal.

After doing a bunch of fiddling around with my own setup, I ended up actually setting the pickup heights to vary across the strings. I run off my bridge pickup exclusively. My high end I've got as close to the strings as a I could get and the bottom strings I have set as far from the pickups as possible. Essentially, it's a slope going close on the 1st to far on the 6th. My highs are much brighter than before which I love, and the lows have a darker tone and a lot more flavor to them than the pure pound when I had them close to the strings. Not sure if this is going to have much effect on the guitar itself, as of now though, it has been working fine.
