Just amazing articulation and responsiveness. It's still not 100% there yet, but I thought I'd share with you all the amazing power of physical modelling synthesis.

Still a long way to go, but milestones are being achieved every year.

Well, it's a brass synth instrument, built using physical modelling synthesis algorithms. No samples involved at all.

Sounds very good for a synth, I wouldn't have noticed much of a difference except for the French Horns, which sounded quite synth-y.

Also, I was just listening to Dvorak's 9th yesterday, so that little reference was cool.

That is really kick ass. I am extremely impressed with how far this is coming...

That would have been a lot more convincing if it wasn't quantized to hell and back. All the timing was robotic and lifeless. Which to be honest, has more of an effect on my perception of the instruments as 'real' than the sounds themselves.

Very well, however that is very much like complaining about the fact that Obituary isn't techno.

Not really. The aim is to sound realistically like a brass instrument. Why bother to make a convincing replica of the instruments sound, then ruin the illusion by programming it in so robotically and devoid of the performance characteristics that are so essential to completing the illusion? you could do the exact same thing just with high quality samples.

Yes really. The aim is to demonstrate the tonal qualities of the synth. There doesn't need to be a "realistic" performance for that. Your criticism is rather useless, when it comes to what matters.

I disagree, but whatever.
