both of those are better and sound more towards the nunslaughter worship they are working towards.

I have serious doubts as to whether a drummer so christian as to object to his band being called Necrosodomy would accept playing in a Nunslaughter worship band. They'll either become Waking the Cadaver with jesus lyrics or break up.

Or did you tell him it was Nun's Laughter?

His biggest concern was trying to explain to his family he was in a band called Necrosodomy. He definitely enjoys playing with us so far, and turns out he's an awesome drummer too. I'd rather change the name than make him uncomfrortible.

How exactly does WTC come into the equation?

That style of "death metal" seems immensely popular among the christ kids from my experience. I knew this deacon with a huge collection of what he called "white metal" (as opposed to black metal). There most extreme stuff there was essentially brutal death metal /deathcore with lyrics about salvation or the wrath of god or some such shit.

Ah, yeah that won't be a problem. We're not going to change our actual music for this guy, he heard what we had gotten so far and he was in.

Been working on many unfinished ideas over the past few weeks. All the material for a first album is just about written, and I've got a rough idea for about 3 songs on a second album.

In order to fill the musical void I've recently experienced in writing and recording, I think I'm gonna write some Anal Cunt-worship grindcore.

Been working out some parts for a Grave Digger cover. Going to get in my college studio on Monday, which has some fucking nice gear, so I'll be able to get some awesome recordings out of it.

Well ever since my band Stygian Apothegm got put on hold I've been just writing songs on my own and doing various covers that I put up on youtube. I don't know if I will ever become a professional musician or get a job related to it but it's something I love doing. All I can do for now is keep doing what I'm doing and hope someone sees my potential.

Thinking of ripping off Gelseth_Andrano ideas and starting a Nunslaughter worship band... If only I could find some musicians who knew anything about them!

Just tell them to play sloppy thrashy death metal!

My main project (the one where our drummer boinked our vocalist's woman) has found a NEW drummer...Unfortunately he's a wiggercore home bro who only listens to bands with phrases as names. So I started jamming out some rediculous deathcore and metal core riffs. My band ate them up. Looks like my death metal band is about to get krunk'd.

Recorded some drums for a cover of Grave Digger - Rebellion last night. Got to use some really good mics, really good gear, and it all went rather well. Listening back to it today, I'm rather pleased with how all the sounds turned out. I'll post up some clips when I've finished it.

This is what I used:

Kick: Audix D6
Snare Top: Shure SM57
Snare Bottom: Sennheiser MD421
Hats: AKG 451
High/Floor Toms: Sennheiser MD421s
Ride: AKG 414
Overheads: AKG 414s
Compressed Overhead: Rode NT2 (I had this positioned over my head, and slammed the compression on it. It brought out the toms really nicely.)
Rooms: Rode NT5s

Running everything into an SSL AWS 900+ (not sure which specific model), compressing kick, snare (top and bottom), toms, and compressed overhead through an SSL compression unit. Recorded to Pro Tools 8 HD.

Damn I love my college. XD

The thing is, nobody here knows what the words 'thrashy death metal' means. They'd think Metallica mixed with Whitechapel... It's a shame. But I'll find the closet kids and bring them out, or move to Houston!

And at your new direction, that's about where I would leave.

Hehe, turns out this guy is a terrinle drummer, so he won't be along too much longer. We basically decided to give him one more practice before we give him the boot. And as for genre, I really don't give a fuck what i'm playing as long as I'm having fun doing it, honestly. i'd go join a country band if we put on good shows.

True, true... I'd be disappointed though if my Death Metal band turned core, but just making music is good.

On that note, starting an internet project with a guitarist friend of mine and maybe a bassist I know. So I get to (hopefully) play some sloppy punky death metal!

I'm almost definitely gonna be joining a Powerviolence band soon, gonna start trying to form a riffy, crusty, Horna/Darkthrone-like Raw Black Metal band as well, starting a second solo project to play Blackened Doom (leaning pretty evenly on both sides), and gonna work on some of my Green Destroyed material tomorrow for the first time in about a month. Also gonna have tape copies of my GD demo soon. Fuck yeah!

Just quad-tracked some rhythm guitars for a black metal track I've been working on. It's nice to not have to play everything perfectly, so as to get the trve and kvlt nekro sound... XD

Finished remixing this album for a project with my friend in SoCal, he uploaded it to youtube.

More stuff will come soon, probably just going to be a demo or something, but it's been good so far.

I've been working on switching up my drum style, and (most difficult of all) trying to learn Reason by myself... -_-

Might anyone know any good comprehensive tutorials?

Been practicing drums and stepping back to the basics. Removed parts of my set so I can focus on the simple stuff I neglected to pay attention to when I started out. Basically re-teaching myself.
Also practicing guitar, which is a pain.

I'm playing guitar/bass/vocals for a black metal band. We have four complete songs, one that is almost done, and the groundwork is laid for two more. After that is done, we will fine tune everything, then record with a friend. We hope to have that done within the next few months.

I'm playing drums/vocals in a "bestial" style black/death metal band. We have two songs written. We are planning on recording, but we aren't sure when...

They're both bands with 2 members (myself and one other person). We are just focusing more on the traditional style black metal band at the moment. We have rehearsal videos for both bands on Youtube. If anyone is interested in watching one, send me a message. :)

Been trying to actually write some stuff for my black metal project, and it's going fairly well. I've been in a very writey mood this whole month and so far it's been fruitful. Trying to write for 4 bands at once gets a little tricky, so luckily since every band is different, it's been forcing my creative juices to flow vigorously.

My death/thrash thing ended up more death than thrash and not so sloppy, but the riffs sound good so I'll go with it. Just found out I might be joining a blackened thrash band with some guys in my area, so have to see how it works out. Been a while since I played with a real band, going to be fun at least.

Really need to practice more and sleep more, because I'm getting tired quickly when playing thrash type stuff which didn't happen before. Practice, practice, practice.

I'll play sloppy in the black/thrash band just to make it better. That is hoping the kid was serious about the band.

I was supposed to be auditioning a guitar player this afternoon but he completely bailed on me so I decided to practice my bass instead. I actually ended up writing a completely new song and have been working on arrangements for several others. This is the most work I've gotten done in months but I'm really getting tired of not being able to find a reliable guitarist here in Indy, especially since I have no idea where these songs are going to end up going...

Working on my doom metal track for the challenge. Playing it in E standard, so it's proving quite difficult. Not sure how well it'll work in the end, but that'll be for others to decide... I think I might have to record some vocals for it as well, as I'm nowhere near good enough on the guitar to make it an instrumental track that isn't ridiculously boring...

Nah, Black Sabbath's two first albums are in E standard and they are doom and heavy as shit at times. Perhaps you should look for inspiration from them.

Actually while up here I'm composing an ep of crusty hardcore/grind/entombed worship that I'm doing with a friend. as in actually working out all the tabs in my head playing it. It's actually kinda tiring cause i'm basically having to dial in my head what it sounds like and visually seeing what I would be playing. so far I have 2 songs and the start of a 3rd. soon as I get back in town I'm recording that after I record drums for Moon.

I'm playing the drums for exactly 20 months now. And in my opinion....I still suck ass.... ah well, I cant expect myself to be able to play along with Gene Hoglan.

I've been playing guitar for almost 4 years now and the latest 1½ years have been great while the first 2½ years weren't so interesting. Still, I'm practicing totally inconsistent. At times I can easily play 3 hours a day and other days I won't even play at all. Ah well, had a guitar lesson again today and had lots of fun which matters too right? :p

Sounds like me. I've played guitar for three years and a half, but I've been very on and off playing it. My greatest fault is that though I occasionally manage to force myself to practice something quite thoroughly for one or two days, I never seem to be able to keep the routine up. I'll never become a fast player this way.

Yeah man...I should atleast practice some basic stuff eachday. On the other hand I often have lots of fun with my guitar. My guitar teacher is very enthusiastic about me though and even found me saying (lying, actually) that I practice atleast 45 minutes a day very impressive which for my idea is far off from what how long you should play eachday if you want to become a decent guitarist. Ah well. Maybe I'll start taking it all more serious once I get involved with other musicians.
