Today I'm meeting up with a guitarist for some thrashy grindy stuff, which should be quite fun.

And here's a video of my post-metal band jamming out a song we've been working on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpE89hB3q9Q

We've only had a couple of practices together, and the camera clips like crazy, but the general feel comes across.

Sounds pretty decent where I skipped around at.

Wrote and recorded 14 grind songs for two different bands.

also recorded bass and guitar tracks for 17 old songs that I wrote last year. that's the end of those for that band.

Added a new section to another song that I'm gonna put on that black metal demo finally. It's an early-Shining type passage, and sounds really brooding. I'm also reviewing some old songs I've written in Guitar Pro that I never recorded and I'm pulling the riffs that I like.

So, what do you guys think about tapes? Would you buy one from a new band?

I am a fan of tapes from new bands, I prefer tapes (and vinyl) to CDs.

I don't buy tapes. Don't like them.

No matter how good the band is I just don't see it worth my few dollars to get it.

3 of my bands put out tapes and I haven't even listened to them, so far as I know Hall and Oats is actually recorded on them.

Wrote and recorded 9 more grind songs for 2 bands.

recorded drums for another grind band of mine that's been defunct for a year but I had the guitars and vocals recorded before he moved away. I did 5 out of the 8 songs that were left.

haha I suppose so! I get inspired pretty easy and to me grind songs are easy to put together to make interesting and hectic/brutal/mean sounding.

I actually wrote another 11 songs last night. I'm just kinda waking up a bit and then I'm going to go and record them and perhaps drums to a few things.

Just finalizing the mixes my bands 'xmas gift' to our fans. It's an EP of covers that we put it up on xmas day for free and then take it down around new years. We did it last year with New Order and people really dug it, so tomorrow we're putting up five Depeche Mode songs.

PS. Enjoy The Silence might be the best song ever.

You write quite fast, I can take months to finish a single song.

it's what I enjoy doing. So it's basically what i think of the most. If I can't write and record music I'd be a miserable ass cunt. So when I'm inspired I fucking run with it until I just don't want to write for that anymore.

I can never work on a single song for months cause i'm just going to forget about it/ hate it/ sound like shit by the end of it,

Recorded five punkish/noise/black metal songs for Siler Hatchery today, did the guitar, bass and drums all by myself (don't think I'm SLK level yet, but I have my own chops :p ). Made over an hour of digital noise and now I'm just layering feedback and developing some artwork.

Makin' a small and kinda minimalist piece for orchestra with synths and shit, got a circus-y vibe to it, shame I've gotta go to work, I would like to keep playing with this song.

Just finished mixing this song a couple of days ago, not the best quality but considering that it was recorded in 5 hours at a friend's garage I think it came out pretty well.

MortalScum, sounds alright for a demo, really hate the snare, and pretty much the drum sounds in general, Don't really like the tone of the guitars, bass is barely there. kinda sloppy. and Not really sludge. The very begining is and the end but the majority of the song is fast paced crusty sounding black metal. which is fine and dandy... it's just not sludge metal like it's labeled. If everything was better sounding i'd def like the song more.

and thanks frog! I appreciate that! I just do it for the love of doing it.

Lead and rhythm guitars. I'm a little intimidated because of how extremely tight the guys are, and the vocalist drives everyone like a slavemaster til perfection is achieved :D

Composed and recorded the rough draft of a little piece I'm hoping to later touch up. Theme for a scrapped animation project a friend of mine was putting together. Put it on Soundlcloud, which is something new to me:

More soon.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from. I'm not totally satisfied with it myself, I don't really like the guitar/bass tone either or the drum sounds for that matter. And yes it is a bit sloppy (probably because we didn't use a metronome or click track when recording this). As far as it not being sludge, yeah I know its not pure sludge, we're trying to throw in some death/thrash kind of stuff in there to change it up a bit. We just feel that sludge is the biggest part of our sound (though this song probably isn't the best example).

I'm doing a 2 man black metal band right now. We've been together for 7 months, and have 5 songs written. We are playing a show in Knoxville, TN on February 25th, and are recording our debut very shortly after that. We have a Facebook page if anyone was interested. The videos posted there are a bit sloppy, but we are uploading new videos this weekend.

My dad showed me how to properly use drum loops and do some other cool stuff on garage band, so I'm making a lot of electronic/dance music. Some of the best stuff I've ever done, I think. I really like layering the drum loops, you can create a lot of really cool sounds that way. Also, drum breaks can sound pretty sick. Just have to learn how to play the keyboard better now.

12 parts written for my current project. It's gonna have some of that ethereal urban feel.

I'm trying to find a guitarist, bassist, and drummer for my band. However I'm probably the only person in my state and city who listens to black metal (any extreme metal fan I meet worships Cannibal Corpse). I do however have some songs written, just need people to help me record the music aspects.

Got that right. Spent about an hour yesterday being whacked into shape. The songs posted in the links earlier are some of the easier ones. The new songs are decidedly complex and a huge workout on the right hand, If I'm ready though, I'd be playing my first show with them opening for fucking Nile, which makes me even more stressed out than I already am.
