Hey everyone,
I know I’ve made a thread promoting Tragedy Mask on here in the past, but that is not the purpose of this thread. Rather it is to spread awareness of a critical issue which is impacting my state at the moment and is jeopardizing the lives of thousands of teachers and students, and to let you know what I’m doing about it and what you can do to help.

On July 17th, the same day when Iowa reported its highest daily case total since the pandemic began, Governor Kim Reynolds made a proclamation which forces teachers to return to school in person next month yet provides them with no additional funding for personal protective equipment or any other protective measures. This comes after the governor spent the entire summer saying that it would be left up to individual school districts to handle their response, and only after Trump made school reopening a campaign issue.

This is unacceptable, disgusting, and absolutely disgraceful, and we must take action now to stand up against this act of utter tyranny. What happened to the sentiment of teachers being heroes who are underpaid and undervalued in society? Was that just empty virtue signaling all along?

Just as the pandemic response is a community response, addressing this will also take the power of a community united. That is why I will be doing my part in this fight as an artist by doing the following:

1.) For the next two weeks, my album Theatrum Tragoedia will be pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp, and any amount which you decide to pay will be considered a donation.

2.) I will be taking 100% of the proceeds from all donations received and putting them towards PPE to provide to local school districts.

3.) You can make a donation and download the album here: https://tragedymask.bandcamp.com

If the governor’s proclamation is rescinded and the need for PPE for teachers becomes diminished, I will be donating these proceeds instead to art and music programs in the same local districts.

I will also be holding a virtual concert sometime within the next two weeks, and in lieu of taking tips I will be asking for donations towards this cause. More information on that concert will be provided here as it becomes available.

Our children and teachers are not political pawns. It is imperative that we stand up for them right now. This is the time to act. If you want to help—in addition to considering a donation—please go sign this petition asking the governor to rescind the proclamation: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/res ... irect_link

You can also visit my Facebook page for more information regarding my fundraising efforts and for regular updates on this situation as it unfolds: https://www.facebook.com/tragedymask

Thank you all for your consideration and any efforts to help save our teachers and students here in Iowa.
