Hello everyone, I have recently finished recording my new solo black metal project known as 'Diabolicus'. It was recorded on a home computer using a drum machine, consisting of 4 tracks and is available for free on request. Simply message me with your home address and I can post a CD to you as soon as possible. The demo can be heard in its entirety here:

www.myspace.com/diabolicusmetal

Enjoy, and keep the spirit of metal alive.

Paul,
Diabolicus

PM sent. I also submitted the project here on M-A, if you don't mind. Feel free to make any changes if and when it is accepted.

Just finished my first listen to the demo.

Great stuff! The riffs are incredible and the fact that the songs have a lot of really smooth tempo changes is awesome. You're definitely a great songwriter. The vocals are excellent too, you've given them a really nice production which makes them feel really cold and goes perfectly with the atmosphere of the album.

So yeah, excellent demo.

I forgot to comment on this. The demo is good, nice atmosphere, cool riffs. I like the sense of majesty about a lot of it. What are you planning after the next demo? I'd pay actual money for a full-length or EP release if it happened.

The future is not set for this band, as I said, it started out simply as something for me to do with my spare time but since the demo and live performance went down so well there may well be a future.

I'll keep everyone informed, and again, thank you.

Hey, got your CD's in the mail last week..submitted a review for Open Casket, getting around to listening to Diabolicus. Open Casket was sick, so I have high expectations.

Savage, cheers mate. Glad you like my music. Check out some other Irish bands if you like what you hear, the scene is very closely knit.

Hey Matt hows the form man? Yeah I got my weekend ticket for Winterfest ticket the other day, give me a shout if you recognise me there. I'll be looking for you anyway to get my hands on a copy of that zine. Can't wait to read the review, its an honour to have my project in there with some of the biggest names in Irish metal. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Here is the review I wrote for this demo;

Northern Blaze is always one to applaud those that experiment and are adventurous with their music, and some of our recent Black Metal reviews show this admiration. However Northern Blaze is also acutely aware the power old prescribed doses of sonic warfare, provided of course the right balance of hero worship, sensitivity to one’s forbearers and hefty amounts of energy and dedication is present. With this demo sole Diabolicus member Chainsawgutsfuck (real name Paul O’Callaghan who’s full time band is Cork Death Metal crew Open Casket) has achieved this rare ability of keeping a well-worn genre interesting through musicianship and songcraft matching that of his heroes (most of them probably Norwegian), a believable aura of Satanic hatred and unblinking dedication. Somehow he has managed to make cliché ridden Black Metal sound, well, not clichéd. Opening with an deceptive majestically orchestral intro this demo breaks into a wall of “I-can’t-believe-its-not-a-real-drum-kit” thunderous drums and buzzsaw guitars just seconds before the first icy cold melody, and you only have to wait for the first line of vocals before you hear the word Satan on opener “Behold Your Master.” This is intense stuff that doesn’t let up even momentarily throughout, even through the cleaner tones on the solo on closing track “Enslaved New World” all the way to the sweeping outro. Over 15 years since Darkthrone and Mayhem laid the groundwork for all Black Metal to come, Diabolicus has performed a rare trick of producing a great slab of Black Metal with almost no originality or innovation and all Northern Blaze can really say is fucking nice one. If you love Black Metal you had better by this; it will remind you why you started listening in the first place. [8]
